A Promise for the Dancing and the Dreaming | Durmstrang Draco Drarry

In which foreign students woo champions and love promises are made.

Harry was sitting at a side table, watching the girl he took to the Yule Ball dance with someone else. He really didn't care, the person who he'd rather have gone with, he wasn't allowed to. The band began playing a slow song with a short flute introduction. Other people seemed to know the song and were starting to pair up.

Draco walked up to his boyfriend - unknown to the rest of the school - and held out a hand while smiling gently. "Excuss me, sir, might I heff sis dence?" He asked in a thick Russian accent.

Harry happily took his hand as Draco led him to the dance floor. They had been courting each other for the past couple of months, ever since Durmstrang arrived at Hogwarts.

"I'll swim and sail on savage seas..." A singer started.

"I'll swim and sail on savage seas," Draco sang with, only a hint of his accent showing through. "With ne'er fear of drowning. And gladly ride the waves of life, if you will marry me..."

Draco dropped to one knee and held up a ring in the shape of an emerald-eyed serpent. The entire crowd stared at them; even the band paused to see the reaction. Harry blushed and nodded slightly, allowing Draco to place the ring on Harry's left ring finger.

The band and Draco continued.

"No scorching sun nor freezing cold

Will stop me on my journey

If you will promise me your heart and love,

And love me for eternity."

They paused, waiting to see if Harry could continue. Harry smiled and from his mouth burst forth the next lines.

"My dearest one, my darling dear

Your mighty words astound me.

But I've no need for mighty deeds

When I feel your arms around me."

Draco pulled Harry into his arms as they begun dancing to the tune, twirling and stepping as they continued singing back and forth.

"But I would bring you rings of gold,

I'd even sing you poetry.

And I would keep you from all harm

If you would stay beside me."

Harry placed a small kiss on the tip of Draco's nose.

"I have no use for rings of gold,

I care not for your poetry.

I only want your hand to hold;

I only want you near me."

They finished together in harmony,

"To love and kiss, to sweetly hold,

For the dancing and the dreaming.

Through all life's sorrows

And delights

I'll keep your laugh inside me.

I'll swim and sail on savage seas

With never fear of drowning.

I'll gladly ride the waves of life.

If you will marry me!"

Draco dipped Harry and at the bottom, in front of all of the staff and students of the three schools, kissed each other. Breaking free a moment later, Harry muttered to Draco, "I love you, my fiance."
