Chapter 34 - The Suicide Note
"When I was looking for Emilie in the fire, she told me that there was someone coming for her. She said that she could put us in great danger if we knew, and she never told me. She gave us her warning." I said, studying the picture Jimmy took. This was impossible. Emilie killed herself, she clearly sent me a text. Or did someone else send it?
"It has to be Anonymous," Jimmy said. That seemed to make sense.
Then, my phone vibrated. I looked at the I.D. It was Officer McDermott. Why was he calling me right now?
"Hello?" I mumbled in the receiver.
"Hi! This is Officer McDermott. So, the police station wants to interrogate you and Jimmy of Emilie Alderman's murder. Do you mind coming down? It won't take long." Officer McDermott said. I rolled my eyes. I've had enough of being interrogated.
"Sure," I said, trying to hide the annoyance in my voice.
"Okay, bye."
"Bye."
I hung up, and looked over at Jimmy.
"The police wants to interrogate us about Emilie," I said, and rolled my eyes.
"Oh my god," Jimmy sighed in frustration. "Let's go."

When we got to the police station, there was an officer we didn't recognize waiting for us.
"Hi, next to meet you. I'm Officer Greene." He said, and shook me and Jimmy's hands with a warm smile. He gestured us to follow him into the interrogation room.
"Okay, come on in." Officer Greene said, gesturing me into the interrogation room. I looked at Jimmy, then walked in. I sat down in the chair that was way too small, and took a long sigh.
"Okay, please state your full name and age please." Officer Greene said. He was flipping through papers on his clipboard.
"Malina Cameron McCullough, and I'm twenty-five years old." I replied.
"Okay, and by what we saw, Emilie had sent you a suicide note, correct?"
I nodded. Could I ask them if they knew who murdered her?
"When we were investigating her home, we saw what she sent you via text. Yet, there were no signs of her committing suicide, she only had severe stab wounds around her abdomen." Officer Greene said.
"She could've stabbed herself." I said. Just because she didn't die from asphyxia or something doesn't mean she couldn't have stabbed herself.
"We know that, but there were about seventeen wounds. If she were to kill herself, she would've been dead within at least five stabs." He did have a point. "Has Emilie ever told you about anyone that was threatening her?"
"No." That was a total lie, she did tell me about someone threatening her. But I'm not sure we should take a chance and tell anyone about Anonymous right now.
"Okay," Officer Greene wrote something down on his clipboard. "Go ahead and bring Jimmy in here."
I got up, and walked out.
"He wants you in there," I whispered to Jimmy. He nodded, and walked in.
*Jimmy's POV*
I walked in, and sat down in the chair opposite of Officer Greene.
"Okay, please state your full name and age." Officer Greene said.
"James Thomas Fallon, and I'm twenty-six."
Officer Greene wrote something on his clipboard, and looked up again. "I understand that Emilie Alderman has sent your girlfriend a suicide note, am I correct?"
"Yeah," I mumbled. Why were we even here? Is it because Emilie had sent the suicide note to us?
"She's never warned you and Malina of anyone threatening her?"
"Nope," That was a complete lie. There is no way I'm talking about Anonymous to anyone except Malina right now.
"When we investigated Emilie's house, we saw her phone in her hand. We saw the message she had sent you, but we knew she hadn't committed suicide. She had seventeen stab wounds in her abdomen, and there's no way she could've gotten to seventeen stabs without dying," Officer Greene explained.
"Who murdered Emilie?" I asked softly.
"We don't know. We've tried running DNA tests, but this person is smart."
I took a long sigh in frustration. "Okay, I'm pretty sure we're done here." Officer Greene shook my hand, and I met Malina outside the interrogation room, and we walked out to the car. I put the key in the engine, and we drove home.

When we got to my apartment, we walked to my room. I unlocked the door, and walked in.
*Malina's POV*
"I'm gonna get into my pajamas real quick." I told Jimmy, and walked to me and Jimmy's room.
When I went to get my pajamas from the drawer, I saw something at the corner of my eye. I slowly turned my head, and gasped. I couldn't believe what I was seeing.
"Malina? What's going on?!" Jimmy raced into the room, and his gaze turned to where I was looking at, and he gasped too.
There lie Emilie's lifeless body. Her skin was blue with no blood going through her veins, and her eyes were wide open. Why wasn't her body in the grave?
"Who put that there?!" Jimmy asked, shocked and confused.
"I don't know, all I know is that someone has been in the house." Jimmy and I exchanged a nervous look, then I looked back at Emilie.
Who put that there?
