Chapter 30 - Stay With Me

*Two months later*
Today was the day of Emilie's funeral. I couldn't wait for a day full of grief and guilt.
I was dressing up in all black, just like my mood was. Depressed and guilty.
Jimmy was also dressing in black. White shirt, black tie, black pants, what not.
But everything was better when Jimmy was around. Everything about him made me feel like I can do anything.
Jimmy was fixing his tie next to me. "Everything's gonna be okay," Jimmy said, and kissed my head. I smiled and blushed.
"I know, I'm just guilty." I said with a long sigh.
"Why?"
"Because I was a total bitch to Emilie! I should've just settled down and talked about it with her!" I wiped away a tear that escaped. "The last conversation we had was a fight,"
"Hey, don't worry." Jimmy took his index finger, and lifted my chin up. He gave me a peck on the lips. "You did what you had to. Emilie was being set up, and it made her bitchy. What else were you supposed to do?"
I guess Jimmy was right, I really didn't have another choice. I never knew she was being set up, and that's what caused her to be nasty.
"C'mon," Jimmy said, patting my back. "Let's get going." Jimmy and I walked out of the apartment, and to the car.
Jimmy put the key in the engine, and we were on our way.

Emilie's funeral was in an episcopal church about fifteen minutes away.
Jimmy and I walked out of the car, and got into the church. There was a big picture of Emilie right next to her coffin. Her white-blonde hair was curled, and her piercing blue eyes made me feel like her presence was here with me.
Then, Emilie's mother, Shannon, and her father, Chandler, walked up to me.
"Aw, Malina, how are you sweetie?" Shannon said, looking at me in awe.
"I'm hanging in there," I replied, trying to force a smile. Today was not the best day for me.
Shannon's gaze turned over to Jimmy. "Hi, I'm Shannon, nice to meet you."
"You too. I'm Jimmy." Jimmy shook her hand. We stood in silence, until Emilie's parents walked away. Well, that was awkward.
I was giving a speech later on. I had no idea what to say, I didn't plan a speech.

Later on, we took our seats. The priest said his speech, and then it was my turn.
I anxiously walked up to the wooden stand, and took a deep breath.
"Emilie Alderman was a one of a kind. She was definitely a best friend anyone would ever dream of. She taught me so many things...loyalty, kindness, and most of all, friendship. We did everything together. We had sleepovers every weekend, got hungover every Friday pretty much." Everybody chuckled in the audience. Thank god, because I was starting to think I shouldn't have talked about getting hungover at a funeral. I saw Jimmy giggling. God, he was so cute.
"She was my best friend, and she always will be." I started to sob. I bit my lip, trying to fight the urge to cry. Everybody applauded, and I took my seat.
Once I took my seat, I sobbed.
"It's okay, let it out." Jimmy held me in his arms, which always helped. I loved him so much.

After the funeral, it was dark outside. Jimmy and I walked out to the car.
"Damn, that was hard to tolerate." I said, my head in my hands.
"I know. I'm so sorry, Lina Bean." Jimmy said. I blushed at the nickname he just gave me.
"It's okay, I just have to comprehend with reality." I said. Well, I needed to. I sure as hell wasn't living in a fairytale.
"l need to start getting used to this. I've gone through so many deaths in my life, it's not even funny. Who's next, Jimmy? I'm almost positive we're next. This anonymous person wants to torture us. What else is coming for us?" I said.
"I really wish I knew," Jimmy replied. Yeah, me too.
Then, my phone buzzed. It said Blocked I.D. I clicked read.

Wanna know who I am? Meet me at the Richardson Mall parking lot.

"Jimmy, pull over." Jimmy pulled over, and I showed him my text. He read it, and his eyes widened.
"Well, it's a good thing I'm armed. There's no way in hell I'm going anywhere without a gun with this maniac chasing us everywhere." Jimmy and I chuckled. Jimmy reached into the backseat, and pulled out two guns. Can't fool Jimmy.
"Take one," Jimmy handed me a gun.
"Alright, let's get this show on this show on the road." Jimmy said, and we drove to the Richardson Mall.

When we got there, there were no cars in the parking lot. That's really weird.
Jimmy and I got out of the car, and walked around the parking lot. Jimmy was wearing a black hoodie. I don't know why, but I loved when he wore black hoodies. It made him look mysterious and sexy. His hair was messy as usual, and he had a determined look on his face.
"We're here!" I yelled. There was no sight of anyone in the parking lot.
Then, me and Jimmy saw a silhouette across the parking lot. It was walking towards us. I couldn't tell wether it was a boy or girl. Whoever it was was wearing a ski mask, I'm pretty sure.
I pulled out my gun, and aimed it at the person.
"Listen up!" I yelled. "Whoever you are, we would appreciate it if you would take off your mask, and show us your identity. That's the easy way, and if I were you, I would do it that way. The hard way is we take you down. We're armed, and we catch fast moves. Take off your mask!" Jimmy aimed his gun at the person, too. But, the person just stood there.
"Take it off!" I screamed. "I'm about to pull the trigger!"
Still nothing.
"You chose the hard way," I was about to pull the trigger, but then the person pulled out a gun, and I heard a gun shot. There was a sharp pain around my forearm. At first I whimpered, then I wailed in agony.
Suddenly, I couldn't hear anything, as if I became deaf.
"Malina!" Jimmy yelled. His voice echoed in my head. The whole world blacked out.
*Jimmy's POV*
I ran over to Malina's body, and kneeled down. "No, no no no no!" I said. I felt her pulse, nothing. I started to panic. I performed CPR. "Come on, wake up! Don't die on me!" Nothing.
I looked around her arm, and saw her wound. Blood was oozing out of it. A tear rolled down my cheek.
"Wake up!" I wailed. I did a couple more rounds of CPR. Nothing at all.
I pulled out my phone, and quickly called 911.
"911 what's your-"
"Come here quick! My girlfriend...sh-she got shot. Please, she's not breathing!" I stammered quickly. I was out of breath.
"Okay, we'll bring ambulances there as soon as possible. Where are you?" The voice on the other line said.
"Richardson Mall parking lot,"
"Okay we'll be there as soon as possible." Then, I hung up. I performed CPR again, nothing. I started to sob. I put my head in my hands.
I started to hear roaring sirens coming from outside the development. An ambulance pulled up, and several paramedics came out, and kneeled down next to Malina.
"There's no pulse, let's get her to the medical center!" A paramedic said to another. They brought out a portable bed, and picked her up and laid her on it.
"We're you with this girl?" A paramedic asked me.
"Yeah," I replied. I couldn't control my sobbing, even when I was talking.
"Are you coming?"
"If that's okay..." I said.
"Come on," The paramedic gestured me into the back of the ambulance. I climbed in, and sat into the seat on the side. They wheeled Malina right in front of me.
Once they closed the back doors, I pushed a stray hair out of Malina's face.
"Please..." I started to sob again. "Stay with me, Lina Bean. Don't leave me."
