Chapter 21 - Nothing Is Ever As It Seems
As the firemen tried to take out the fire, police cars pulled behind the fire truck. A tan policeman got out of the car, and walked to me and Jimmy.
"Hi! I'm Officer Morgan. So, I just want to search through your house for evidence of how the fire started." Officer Morgan explained.
"Someone got in the house," I corrected. "the fire didn't start itself. Is there any possible way we could find out who it started it?"
"Yeah, I could run some DNA tests." Officer Morgan replied.
I nodded in agreement, and the Officer went in the house once the fire was out.
Jimmy wrapped his arms around me. I stared at him for a few seconds, and kissed him. I ran my fingers through Jimmy's hair as he put his hands on my hips.
After about 2 minutes, someone snapped their fingers in our faces. We quickly let go, and I looked at Jimmy. He had my red lipstick all over his mouth. I snorted.
"Ya done yet?" Officer Morgan asked.
Somehow Jimmy knew my lipstick was everywhere, and he snorted along with me, and bit his lip.
"What's so funny?" Officer Morgan asked, acting serious. "Your house was just on fire!"
"Yeah, my lips look like they've been set on fire too. I like to twin things, it's my hobby. A.K.A what I do in my free time." Jimmy said. I laughed so hard I lost balance and fell over.
"Yeah, you have some problems." Officer Morgan slightly giggled. "Anywho, we found a match that may have started the fire. We're going to do DNA tests on the handprints. They should be ready in a couple of days."
"Okay, thanks sir." I shook his hand, and he left.
As all the fire trucks and police officers left, I looked at Jimmy, and he haven't bothered to take the lipstick off.
"You're too funny." I nudged Jimmy on the arm.
"Don't make me tickle you," Jimmy said, smirking.
"No," I stepped away from him. He took small steps toward me, and started running.
We ran around my whole backyard like little kids, until he caught me. His arms wrapped around me, and he lifted me up in the air.
"Gotcha!" Jimmy said devilishly.
"Don't you dare," Jimmy lied me down on the grass. "Don't. You. Dare." Then, he started tickling me.
"No! Stop it!" I said, laughing like a maniac. After about 30 seconds, I got out of control and got the strength to get up and pin Jimmy to the ground.
"Bitch," I said jokingly, and tickled him in revenge.
"Okay okay, I'm good now!" Jimmy said after about a minute.
I got off of Jimmy, and let him sit up.
"So, uh, did you learn your lesson?" I asked Jimmy, giggling.
"I think so," Jimmy said, still trying to catch his breath.
After a few minutes of silence, I finally said, "So, where do we go now?" I asked.
"We can always go to my place. It's your call." Jimmy responded.
"Your place, I guess." I agreed.
Jimmy and I stood you, and walked to my car. We got into the car, and left.
"Okay, now take a right," Jimmy said, helping me find where his house was.
I pulled into the parking lot of an apartment building. I put the car in park, and we got out.
We leaped up the stairs to the apartment, and Jimmy got his keys out of his pocket, and unlocked the door.
The building was very fancy. It had hardwood floors and stairs, and the doors were shiny as if they'd been cleaned recently.
Jimmy led me to his apartment door, and unlocked the door. The apartment was really big; everything an average house would have.
*2 days later*
As I was pacing around the living room, my phone rang from my pocket. I took it out, and it was a number I didn't recognize. I clicked answer.
"Hello?" I said.
"Hi! This is Malina, right?" A man asked.
"Yeah, why?"
"I'm Officer Morgan. I wanted to let you know that we've done the DNA tests," Officer Morgan said.
I took the phone away from my ear, and gestured Jimmy over. I put the phone on speaker.
"Here are the results we got...are you familiar with the name Marcus McCollough?" Officer Morgan asked.
I looked at Jimmy, and we both widened are eyes.
"He's actually trying to kill you," I said, frightened.
