Chapter 20 - Unexpecting the Unexpected
I ran over to Jimmy, and kneeled down next to him.
"Oh my god, can you move your jaw?" I said quickly.
Jimmy tried to move his jaw, and winced. "Not really."
"C'mon, let's get you out of here." I helped Jimmy up, and rushed out the door.
"I'll talk to you later!" My mom yelled from the other room.
"Next time I see you, I will kill you." My dad said to Jimmy. A tear rolled down my cheek, and we rushed to the car. When we got in, I wiped tears off my cheek, and started the car.
"Hey, don't feel bad!" Jimmy said, trying to calm me down.
I sniffled, and looked at Jimmy, who had a hopeful smile on his face.
"Are you okay?" He ran his hand up and down my back.
"Yeah." I said, my voice hoarse.
"Okay, good. Don't worry." Jimmy said. "Is there anything I could do to make you feel better?"
"No, I'm okay. Thanks." I replied.
When we got home, me and Jimmy watched TV for a few hours.
I walked for my New York Times newspaper on the dining room table, I started to smell smoke.
"Do you smell that to?" I asked Jimmy.
"Yeah." Jimmy said.
I snapped my finger. "You know what, it might be my microwave. It makes that smell sometimes when it's been recently occupied." I said knowingly. But then, I realized that wasn't my microwave. It smelled like that it's coming closer and closer.
"Yeah, that can't be your microwave." Jimmy said, walking up to me.
"Here, I'll check outside real quick." I walked to the back door, and examined the house. Nothing. I went back inside, and Jimmy ran over to me.
"There's smoke coming out of the upstairs window!" Jimmy said quickly, gesturing for me to come with him. We ran up the stairs, and into the bathroom and looked out the window.
"Yeah, that's the door to the attic. How could there be smoke coming out of there? How is the attic window open?" I asked, starting to panic.
Jimmy paused for a moment. "Someone's been in the house." Jimmy ran to where the attic door was, and opened it. We climbed up the stairs, and the attic was in flames.
"What the hell?" I yelled in shock.
"Who started this?" Jimmy asked, curious.
"C'mon, we have to get outta here," I said as we rushed to the front door, and went outside. I pulled out my cell phone, and dialed 911.
"Hello, what's your emergen-"
"There's a fire!" I interrupted.
"Where? What's the address?" The voice on the other line asked.
I told her my address and hung up. Me and Jimmy stared at the fire. Jimmy wrapped his arms around me, which never failed to make me feel safe.
Within seconds, the top of the house blew.
Jimmy and I covered out heads with our arms, and ducked down. Pieces of the roof fell off of the house. Luckily, no pieces hit us.
As sirens roared and got closer and closer, me and Jimmy ran down my driveway, and waited for the fire truck to come.
Once the fire truck came, firemen spilled out and rushed to the house.
I won't lie, me and Jimmy have been through hell together. But that's what makes us closer, and our bond stronger. I love him more than anything, and he loves me. We're soulmates, no doubt about that. He's my world; he's all I think about. He's my forever, my only one. The only one I will ever love.
Hey guys! I hope you liked this chapter! I wanted to add a plot twist because for some reason I'm obsessed with plot twists haha!
So, who do you think started the fire? Comment your theories!
It will be revealed in the next chapter or the one after that!
