Chapter 17 - Marry Me?
*Jimmy's POV*
The rest of the night, me and Malina sat on the couch watching TV. Around midnight, she fell asleep. I carried her up to her bed, and I talked to her once she fell asleep.
I kneeled down next to her side of the bed, and looked at the peaceful face she made while she was sleeping. "Hey, Malina, I know you can't hear me, but I wanted to say that you mean so much to me. Everyday, I think about how thankful I was to talk to you at our SNL audition. From the moment I saw you, I knew I had true feelings for you. Everything we've been through together, how many times we got close to being arrested, how close we both got killed, made our bond stronger. You are so incredibly beautiful, and you have a too good to be true personality. You are so loyal to your family, to me and your friends." A couple tears escaped. "I look forward to many more memories with you. And, I-I'm just so lucky to be with you. I'm so thankful."
I paused for a couple of minutes, and stood up. When I opened the door, I heard Malina say, "Jimmy?"
I whirled around, and saw Malina's wide ice blue eyes looking at me.
"Did you hear what I told you a couple of minutes ago...?" I asked. Malina nodded, and smiled. Her eyes started welling up with tears.
"I'm so thankful for you, too." Malina said, and stood up. She walked over to me, and gave me a tight hug.
"I love you so much! My heart is filled with love, Jimmy." Malina squealed excitedly. My heart melted, I was so in love.
I did a lot of thinking later that night, and found the nerve to propose to her. The way she reacted to what I said was so adorable, and seemed like she was happy, too. I was afraid that it may be too fast, considering we've been dating for only 7 months. But, we both knew what me and Malina had was true.
During the middle of the night, I wanted to look around and see if there was any place that selled rings this late. Thankfully, there was. I walked in, and they had a ginormous selection of rings. There was one that caught my eye. It was silver, and had a cute sized diamond.
The person behind the desk walked over to where I was, and saw which ring I was looking at. He pointed to it, "That one is three-hundred dollars." He said. That was a great price for a ring like that. I bit my lip, and thought for a moment. "I'll take it."
"Alright, sir!" The man said, and walked to the cash register. I reached in my pocket, and opened my wallet. I had three one-hundreds. Perfect. I gave it to the man, and he took the ring out, and put it in a box.
"Have a great day, sir." The man said with a smile.
"You too." I said back, and walked back to my car. I was hoping I wasn't doing the wrong thing to propose after only 7 months.
When I got back to Malina's house, I tip-toed quietly into the living room. I put the ring in the pocket of my plaid pajama pants, I laid on the couch. Soon, I drifted asleep.
The next morning, I woke up around ten-thirty. Malina woke up not too long after I did.
"Good morning." Malina said, rubbing her messy hair.
"Good morning." I said back with a big smile.
I had no clue how to propose to her. Where should I do it? In her house? Outside?
"Malina?" I jumped up from the couch, my heart racing. Malina whirled around, and had a concerned look on her face.
"What's up?" Malina replied.
I but my lip, trying to rehearse what I should say. "Hey, uh, I know this isn't the best place to do this but...I love you. I love you so much, Malina. I hope you know that. I would take a bullet for you. And-" I gulped. Malina was looking at me, not really sure what was going on. "I wanted to, you know, ask you.." I was running out of other words to say. "Malina McCullough, will you marry me?" I got the ring out of my pocket, opened it, and kneeled down.
Malina's eyes widened, and she covered her mouth with her hands.
