Chapter 1: Here We Go
I sunk my knife into the enemies heart. Their blood staining the steel with ease.
I watched as he chocked, blood oozing from his chest and mouth. I stabbed him once more.
He finally stopped breathing. I carved out his heart and put it in my box. Claire will be pleased with my victory.
My squad and I returned to the ship and made our way home.
I took in the darkness of space. It was peaceful. Calming. The stars formed patterns each more beautiful than the last.
The planets filled with life all so complex yet so simple.
I love space. The only thing I think I could ever love more, is Claire.
That gorgeous red hair, her purple skin, matching mine, those beautiful crimson eyes.
I feel my wife is the most wonderful in the galaxy. Once I arrived home she was the first to greet me.
She ran into my arms and I spun her around happily as she laughed and cried with joy that I'd returned safely.
"My love! How I have missed you!" She exclaimed.
"Ah, I missed you to darling." I replied, putting her down.
"Please, take your mask off. I wish to see the rest of your face." She pleaded.
"As you wish, my Queen."
I took of my mask. Wind blowing through my empty socket, my scars able to breathe, I felt free.
Claire smiled.
"How beautiful." She whispered.
She pressed her lips on mine and I leaned into it.
"Your highness!" We hear a messenger call. "My queens, urgent message from our spies."
Claire looked to me, worried. I put my mask on and we went inside.
"Earth is dying." He said.
"We need to gather information to keep it alive. Who shall we send?" The General asked.
Claire seemed speechless. She didn't know how to make the decision. I am her most trusted warrior.
It would only make sense to send me.
Claire wouldn't admit it though. She tells me she needs me here. And I don't like leaving the system.
Earth, though far away, was bought by the last king. And she could not get rid of it. She refused.
"I...I will think of who to send." Clair struggled.
I took her hand and lead her to our room. She broke down in tears begging me to stay here.
I caressed her cheek. She kissed the palm of my hand and I felt her hot tears as she calmed herself.
"My darling, it seems we don't have a choice." I said. "All the other warriors are afraid to go. And the scholars are all on different planets."
She sighed and embraced me.
"You just got back..." she whined.
"And I will come back again." I said.
She tightened her grip and took a deep breath.
"I know you will..."
Eve
