Christmas Break was over, and everyone was at Hogwarts for another couple months, until they graduated. The whole group was sitting at their usual tables, ready for Minerva to make her dinner speech. She stood up, and collected the room.
"Thank you, students, for coming back for another year. I hope you had a fun Christmas Break, and you are prepared for your end of the year terms. In light of the ending of the war, I would like to hold a contest and a ball. You will have all this week to train your wand and reflexes. I am holding a mass duel for everyone 5th year and above." She said. Everyone was shocked. It sounded so cool.
"I am going to split up everyone into two groups by random. You will be required as your Defense Against the Dark Arts exam, to participate in the duel. Your teacher will grade you on how well you use the spells you've learned this year. It will be a rogue duel. You fire spells as fast as you can to defeat your opponent, no matter who they are. I have decided to make this have some incentive, so the top five fighters will duel each other, to win the house cup. After we are done, I will hold a ball for all the contestants. Everyone had such a tough year last year, and I want you to have some fun as well. This is not a duel to the death. You will know what group you are in come the day of the duels." Minerva concluded. She sat back down, and food appeared on the tables.
Ron immediately dug in. Everyone else was processing what Minerva said.
"A duel?!" Hermione exclaimed. Everyone was really excited.
"This'll be great. A duel where no one gets seriously hurt. It'll be so fun." Harry cheered. Ron nodded, but didn't speak.
"I don't know. I'm not one for duels." Neville said nervously.
"You'll be fine. You did great during the battle. Just keep a calm head." Luna advised Neville.
"I guess it'll be fine. It's for a grade, so I guess you can't get out of it." Draco said. He wasn't much for dueling. When he was a kid, sure, but now, not so much.
"You'll do great, Draco. Don't worry." Harry assured him. Everyone ate and chatted about the duel, and headed to bed.
The next morning, everyone woke up early to start training. Minerva stopped all classes for 5th years and up, for the whole week, and students could practice whenever and however they wanted. Harry, Draco, Hermione, Ron, Neville, and Luna headed to the Room of Requirement early so they could keep it to themselves. Harry thought about a battle arena, and opened the door.
Inside looked like a war aftermath. It was a small town, with rubble everywhere, concrete pulled out of the ground, debris everywhere. They all walked in and locked the door.
"This is perfect!" Harry exclaimed. It looked so cool. "We should start practicing. How about we battle each other in groups of three. Group one will find a hiding place, while group two goes to the opposite side of the room, and waits for fire. Use any spells you want, as long as they are not physically harmful. And definitely no forbidden curses. Alright, I'll take Luna and Draco." Harry called. That left Neville, Hermione, and Ron to their own group. The groups split apart from each other, and found their attack positions.
"Ready! Set! Fire!" Harry yelled. His group immediately started to regroup, and find pieces of rubble to fire from. Harry started a dead sprint towards the opposing group, then hid behind a piece of concrete. He waited for Draco and Luna to lure them out, so he could hit them with some hexes. Neville popped up first, and Harry shot him with a leg lock hex, which made him fall over. Hermione popped out after, and she shot a Confucious spell at Draco as he popped up. He was disoriented, and didn't move. Harry shot Draco with a gust of wind that made him fall down so he wasn't in view.
Harry stood up, and shot Hermione with a stinging curse. Her face immediately swelled up, and her vision was impaired. Luna shot up then, and hit Hermione with expelliarmus. Draco jumped out from his hiding place, no longer disoriented, and shot Hermione with a knock out curse. Hermione dropped to the ground. Ron and Neville didn't remember the counter curse, so the duel was left for them.
Draco quickly hid behind another piece of rubble, and regained his breathe. Luna stepped out, and started to distract the opposing team with lots of fireworks that disrupted their vision. Draco slipped out of his spot, and started to run around the building, out of view. Harry emerged, and he ran over to Neville, who was on the ground, unable to move. He shot expelliarmus at him, and took his wand. The match was left to Ron.
Ron was still blinded by the fireworks, that he did see Draco run around the corner, and shoot him with expelliarmus. While Harry and Luna distracted them, Draco slipped away, and attack from behind. Luna stopped shooting fireworks, and everyone stopped. Harry awoke Hermione, and gave Neville his wand back. Ron grabbed his wand from where it landed.
Luna sat down, and charmed Hermione's ailment away. Her face was back to normal.
"What in bloody hell was that all about?" Ron said. He helped Hermione up from the ground.
"We systematically eliminated you one by one." Draco smirked. When cunning was needed, Draco was a force to be reckoned with.
"Now that we're done, we should look up some counter curses." Harry suggested. The room produced six copies of 'Duels and Counter-Curses.' They all sat down, and skimmed through the book. They eventually found the counter-curse for knock outs, and a lot more spells and means of destruction. Harry learned the spell to break pieces off of buildings to distract others.
They all dueled a couple more times before heading back to the common room to relax their muscles.
"I heard a lot of the students are using the dungeons as a pool. How about we all go swimming?" Draco suggested. Everyone seemed to like the idea, and they all dressed up in their bathing suits, and went down to the dungeons. Neville brought some Gillyweed just in case they wanted to dive somewhere.
Everyone casted a charm on themselves so their bodies were warm in the frigid water.
"This is so relaxing." Hermione commented as she floated around on the surface. Everyone agreed.
"How about we go diving? I brought Gillyweed." Neville asked.
"It's too dark though. We won't be able to see anything." Harry commented. Neville shook his head.
"I know an underwater spell that works like lumos. Just say 'In Lucem.'" Neville told them.
"I'm down with it." Draco said. Everyone else agreed, and they all ate some Gillyweed, and dove underwater. Soon everyone was swimming down deeper into the dungeons, with their wands lit.
They all came across Snape's old classroom. Everyone decided to explore a little. Draco went to the potions cabinet, and looked over the remaining bottles that weren't broken. Harry swam around and looked at the books with Hermione. Neville and Ron just poked his weird figurines, and looked through his living quarters.
Draco found a tote, and he pilled in the sealed potions and ingredients that was left. He tied to bag so everything didn't float around.
Harry and Hermione opened up the books, but the months of water damage disintegrated most of the pages, and the ink was unreadable. Ron managed to break something, but nothing bad happened thankfully.
They all left the classroom, and just looked around the flooded classrooms. Before they knew it, their Gillyweed wore out. Neville brought extra so they could take it, but instead they found a large air pocket. Everyone took a breather in the air pocket.
"Wow, it looks so cool." Hermione commented. "A shame that all the books were ruined though." She noticed a pair of doors, and walked over to them.
"Isn't this the out of use bathroom? The one where the Chamber of Secrets was?" Hermione guessed aloud. Harry walked over, and opened the doors.
"You're right. It is." He said astonished. Everyone followed inside, and closed the doors. It looked like the closed doors created the airpocket, since there was no sign of water in the bathroom. Harry headed to the very sink he opened a years before.
"Do you think it still works?" Harry asked. Ron and Hermione shrugged their shoulders. Draco put his hand on Harry's shoulders.
"Are you sure you should open it? What if something is down there?" He cautioned.
"Don't worry. The only thing there, is a Basilisk skeleton. As long as you don't touch the fangs, you'll be fine." Harry assured him. He turned to the sink, and asked for permission to enter the chamber in parceltongue. It took a moment, but everyone stepped back as the sink changed, and showed the opening.
"Let's go down." Ron said excitedly. "Don't worry. It's just a bit dusty." Ron got close to the edge, and got ready to jump. Hermione pulled him back.
"What if it's flooded?" She said. "And how do we get out once we're down there?"
Harry and Ron hadn't thought of that. They relied on Fawks to carry them out the last time.
"Damn it." Harry said. He sat down, and thought.
"If we transfigure ourselves with wings, in reality, we could fly back up." Luna suggested. "Or we could make a rope, and just climb back up."
Hermione thought. "The rope idea is a lot more plausible. Let's try that." She said. She ripped a loose sting off of her bathing suit, and she transfigured it into a long rope.
"I can lengthen it when we get to the end. I'll go first." She said. She tied the rope to a stall, and started to lower herself down with her wand in her mouth. She reached the end of the rope, and casted a growing charm on it. It kept on growing in length, and was ascending down the tunnel.
"Let's go." Hermione said. Everyone started to lower themselves with the rope, and held their wand with their teeth.
Soon everyone safely got to the bottom of the spiral tunnel. Hermione stopped the rope from growing.
"So where do we go?" Neville asked. Harry and Ron led the way. They all passed the decomposing snake skin, and found the locked entrance. Harry spoke to the entrance, and it soon opened up.
"Here we are." Harry said. They walked down the familiar hall, passing all the snake statues, and got to the skeleton.
"It's huge." Draco marveled as he walked around the skeleton. "And you fought that in 2nd year?" He asked astounded. Harry nodded his head.
"With a little help from Fawks, I managed it." Harry sighed. "It only seems like yesterday I fought the bastard." Harry commented, in which he got a couple laughs.
Everyone kind of just explored the cave separately, and then climbed back up the rope. Harry closed the Chamber, but Hermione left the rope in case they came back. They ate another handful of Gillyweed, and set back out to the exit of the Dungeons. Everyone was just waiting for the Gillyweed to wear off.
The group sat down on the floor of the dungeons, and played around with whatever they could.
Harry and Draco testing out some of the underwater spells they knew, and tried to break bottles. Casting spells underwater was very tricky, but they got the hang of it.
After a bit, everyone surfaced when they couldn't breathe water anymore.
They dried themselves off, and headed to their dorms to take showers. When everyone was done, they all hung out in the common rooms until dinner was ready.
Once everyone ate, they headed back, and talked a little more before going back to bed.
