Chapter 7
AUNT JONAH
After I got separated from Apollo. I did my best to sacrifice myself to save my nephew away from the filthy hands of danger. Especially, the two other bad guys were still chasing him at this moment. I just hoped that he would be okay, and I wished he found his way to the portal.
I only did what was right, and I was doing my responsibility on being his life guardian.
Speaking of guardian. I gave Apollo the palace key for him to keep it safe, In case the shadow people started searching for the key.
The key had a great importance to Apollo's quest, and it was the only access to the enter the palace, even though it had a magic barrier and the shadow king casted by a black magic to block the entrance of the palace from anyone who dares to intrude. The palace key was more powerful than any dark abilities, especially it held by someone, and I know its my nephew who could save the entire world from the darkness.
It was the reason why I gave Apollo the palace key, He held the last light and it was hidden underneath of his heart. A very powerful one.
Once Apollo entered inside the light palace, half of its brightness of the kingdom would eventually come back, and if he does that, he would easily defeated the shadow king, with the use of the hidden power underneath his heart.
Also, my guess was right all along. I know it was the shadow king who ordered his men to brutally slaughtered Apollo's parents before, since they are both previously the heroes of the light kingdom. The king wanted to erase their history and put the new future on his evil hands, is to rule the kingdom with eternal darkness.
The shadow king did know that his mortal enemies had a child. He would do everything just to capture Apollo and give the young man the same fate. The fate of being killed.
Before he could he laid his hands on my nephew. I managed to be the first one to save Apollo away from the shadow king's reach.
I took Apollo under my care, and I sealed his presence away from the world. I needed to protect him whatever it takes, even it costs my life. After all, I was his guardian.
Because Apollo's life was next in line to be a hero to save the entire world from the dark. Whether he likes it or not, it was his destiny.
I faced a lot of struggles and difficulty in life without giving up that easy. But seeing Apollo ran away. Waves of doubts had crashed into me, and I ended up drowning deep into the depths of questions and wonders.
Would he survive and stay out alive?
Would he be alright?
Lastly, would he overcome his fear in the dark?
I know somewhere deep inside of Apollo's heart. There's a light still shining bright within him, and a spirit of hope that could give him bravery to overcome his fear.
My thoughts dissolved to dusts when the two bad guys locked both of my hands with handcuffs. I watched their leader who held a scythe, chanted a dark spell, then a black portal had appeared before me. Its spiral goes spinning around, as if it was alluring me to get inside.
Every drop of the rain gave bitter cold into my skin, while tears poured out in my eyes.
I just hoped everything would be alright.
_ _ _ _ _
I stood at the middle of the throne room, while my hands were still locked by handcuffs. I felt my heart beat fast intensively because I could feel the their eyes staring at me narrowly, as if I was the main attraction.
"Where is the palace key?" the shadow king who sat on the throne in front, asked me.
"I don't have it."
"Then where is it?" he snapped angrily.
I shook my head, and I glanced at him with a cold stare. "Why will I tell you then? Its useless because the palace key was no longer at my hands."
He stared suspiciously at my eyes. "Liar."
"Its true. I tell you," I gazed directly back at him, "the palace key is safe from someone's hand."
His eyebrows peaked in curiosity. "Someone? Is it your beloved nephew perhaps? The wannabe hero?"
With his choice of words had left a heavy pain on my chest. I felt the heat started to boil inside my system, and any second I was about to explode because of my anger.
"Don't you dare speak at my nephew like that," I gritted my teeth, "he will find a way to get inside the palace to stop your evil schemes once and for all."
The room awkwardly fell silence. All eyes were on me. I could tell they were surprise at my bravery, when I raised my voice at their so called Master. Then I heard him laughed icily, as if he was not threaten by my words.
"Oh. I'm scared." The shadow king placed his hand over his chest dramatically, pretending to be intimidated by my outburst. "Will I believe that kind of stupidity? Apollo? A hero? Oh. Come on. He's afraid of the dark. As for a guardian like you. You are totally crazy as nuts." he added amusingly.
"As for a king like you. You are flamboyant to your words." I hissed back at him. No one messes with my nephew.
The shadow king smiled devilishly at my response. "What a bravery act you got there. I'm impressed," he commented sarcastically, "what if I tell you that your king of the light kingdom was good as dead right now?"
I was startled in surprise. How did he--
"Why can't you speak before me? Cat got your tounge?" he began to tease me with an annoying smirk plastered on his face.
"You. Monster. How can you do such thing? You killed him!" I cried, tears streamed down on my face.
"I know right? I'm expecting for an award of recognition. Thank you."
The shadow king had murdered the current ruler of the light kingdom. How dare he wanted an award. What for? To show the entire world that he was massively powerful, and everybody around must bow their knees down before him just because he killed his opposite enemy? So ambitious of him.
"After I broke the crest, half of its brightness was gone. As you observe outside the kingdom, the whole village have no lights in each street and pathway. I have become stronger because of the darkness that surrounds me," the shadow king stood up, spreading his arms slowly. Then he chuckled.
"You're crazy as hell." I remarked disgustingly.
"Well. I'm more than hell, darling," then he winked at me.
I cringed when he mentioned darling. If my hands were not tied. Maybe I would strangle his neck, until he lost his breath and die.
"Soon the light kingdom will no longer have its brightness. If it happens, darkness will rule the entire world, and they will know me as their new leader," then he smiled.
"Sorry, but you will never succeed. Apollo will stop your evil doings, and he will bring back the brightness to the palace." I retorted.
"Is that so?" The shadow king raised a brow, while the smile on his lips slowly faded, "Apollo's only one against my army, which was plenty and more powerful than he is."
I mentally rolled my eyes. If he only knew how powerful Apollo is. He would totally freak out. Big time.
I wonder where Apollo is at this moment.
Did he found out that my tiny candle in his bedroom was the secret portal to the light kingdom?
I wished Apollo kept the palace key, safe and sound. Though it was his last access to the light palace, since the entrance door was been locked and sealed by the shadow king's black magic. In short, the key he held was powerful than any magic abilities.
Speaking of Apollo, I saw the two other guys, who was after my nephew in the real world had both entered the throne room, while disappointment was written all over their faces.
I sighed in relief. A sign of victory sparkled on my eyes. A light of hope grew inside my chest.
Maybe he found out about the portal!
Maybe my nephew was here at the light kingdom to start his quest to save the entire world from the darkness.
"Your Highness. I deeply apologise for our incompetence and tardiness. We lost the trace of Apollo," the guy who wore eyeglasses replied, bowing his head on the floor with embarrassment, "he figured out his way to the portal, and at this moment, he's at the darkest part of the light kingdom."
"We tried our very best to capture him," the blond guy chimed in, while his lips are trembling. "Apollo has the palace key, your highness," he added, stammering.
I glanced back at the shadow king, who stood at the throne, dumbfounded. His eyes were cold and distant, while his hands balled into fists. I could feel the anger in his gritted teeth.
"You fools. Why did you let him get away just like that!" The shadow king exclaimed, throwing his hands in the air. "Did you morons know Apollo has the palace key? He can enter the front doors without any hesitations, who knows, he brings a secret weapon along with him and use it against us," he added furiously.
I silently giggled at the humorous scene before me. They were completely clueless about the Apollo's secret weapon that they are referring to.
They didn't know the last light was hidden inside Apollo's heart. A secret weapon that my nephew could use against them.
The shadow king turned his gaze back at me. His eyes flickered with interest, as if he had a brilliant idea to stop Apollo on entering the palace.
I watched him descended the stairs, and slowly he walked around me. I could feel his cold stares, giving me waves of shivers at the back of my spine.
"What if we can cage Apollo's aunt inside the prison cell here at throne room," the shadow king began to suggest at his army. "In case, he enters the palace. I wanted to see his horrified face when I slit his aunt's throat in front of him. Maybe he will give up and surrender himself to us, just to save his pathetic aunt over here." he glanced back at me with a plastered smirk on his face.
"Who you call pathetic?" I questioned him icily, "I assure you, my nephew will end this delusional madness once and for all, a flamboyant king like you must be prepare in what Apollo got in store for you."
He stopped, then he grabbed my cheeks harshly, as I winced in pain. "That's no way to talk to a king. An ignorant aunt like you must learn some basic manners."
He leaned closer at my face, before he could reach my lips. I spit out my saliva at his shock face. That would teach him.
"Feisty." He remarked. Then he punched his fist hard against my stomach, as I groaned in pain.
"You'll never get away from this. I tell you. Apollo will crash your little dreams into tiny pieces." I breathe heavily.
The shadow king smiled. "We'll see about that." Then he glanced at his two henchmen, beckoning them to come closer at him.
"Take her away and cage her inside the prison cell."
I glared at the shadow king for the last time before I was taken away by the henchmen.
