Chapter 10

APOLLO

After I defeated the shadow commander and his army. The palace key was back again on my hands. Then I felt a sigh of relief on my chest. Finally I proved to myself that I could faced my own fears without someone at my side to protect me. Something that I could be more proud of.

At this very moment, I was still standing in front of the entrance door of the light palace. I could feel my heart beat insanely fast when I stared at the black energy that the shadow king had casted a spell with, which it occupied the whole space of the entrance door, as if it was warning me not to enter the light palace.

I took a deep breath. There's no time for me to be afraid. I had to be brave. I know I could do this. This is my final destination. I didn't need to stop. I had to finish this quest. I had to bring the last light inside the palace. And I know the entire world was depending on me.

Apollo. Please. Calm yourself down.

I mentally thought of myself. Then I slid my hand inside of my pocket, as I took the palace key out. The golden brightness greeted broadly before me.

This shiny key was my only access to get inside the palace, and this is my opportunity to rescue Aunt Jonah from the shadow king. In short. This is my one shot of chance. I couldn't let it waste to nothing.

I mustered all of my strength before I install the key in the door lock. I felt a light of heat on my hands when I began to push and twist the key against it.

In the few seconds later. I felt the entrance door shook recklessly before me. I tried to stand up still, as I watched the black magic started to swirl around and I almost got dizzy of its spiral movement. My heart skipped a beat when I saw it vanished into the air.

"That was quick." I mumbled.

The next scene made my body jumped in surprise. The entrance door slowly opened on its own, as if it was expecting me to come inside. With that moment, I didn't waste another precious second when I finally entered the light palace.

When I stepped inside the ground floor of the palace. An indescribable feeling started to creep into my chest. I could also feel the beat of my heart, it was beating unnaturally fast. As the waves of excitement filled up both of my lungs.

I felt I was here a long time ago. A part of my childhood memory. I couldn't clearly visual an image of the familiar scene before me. Which was a solid evidence that I had been here at the light palace. In short, I couldn't recall my almost forgotten past.

My thoughts were crumbled to dusts when the two shadow humans, who all wore a black regalia stood before me. Their cold distant stares gave a violent wave of shivers into my skin. Oh no. This could not be good.

I creased my forehead. Where in the world they came from? Oh right. They are the hence men of the shadow king.

I instantly remembered them back at the real world. The time they were chasing after me in the rainy street and inside my bedroom. How unfortunate to see the two of them unexpectedly here inside the palace.

I heaved a sigh and held the knight sword tighter on my hands. I didn't show any shed of my emotion, while I was glaring back at their direction. I had to act brave in front of their stupid faces, or better yet I needed to do something to get pass through them.

I was bothered by my thoughts when I heard them speak before me.

"Is that young man named Apollo?" The blond guy started to ask, staring suspiciously at me from head to toe.

"Yes its him," the guy who wore eyeglasses comfired his question. "He looks different and tough. But I can tell he is the same coward who left his aunt from danger," he later added, a wicked smirk was plastered on his face.

Those final words left a weight of pain inside my chest. I tried not to cry. Fuck them. They are the freaking cowards.

To be honest, I was been coward. I did regret by running away. Its my freaking fault that I didn't rescue my aunt from the filthy hands of danger.

This was my chance to fix everything right. This was the perfect time I would show to them, that the Apollo they used to know before would glow beautifully like a light.

I began to wander my eyes around. The ground floor of the palace started to light up on its own. I felt it on my two feet with its warm heat.

I sighed. My heart beat pounded so fast while the waves of adrenaline rushed into my bloodstream. Its like someone put the spotlight on where I stood. Then I felt the source of energy started to form inside of my chest.

"What the hell is he doing right now? Why everything is starting to glow?" the blond guy said hysterically.

"I don't know. But Apollo did something bizarre about this commotion." the guy who wore eyeglasses replied at his companion.

"Wait, do you mean he has a hidden power?" he asked skeptically, his eyes both widened in surprise.

"Yes. Based on my observation. The source energy is coming from Apollo. The reason why everything here is glowing with brightness." the guy who wore eyeglasses answered.

"Don't tell me he is the chosen one?"

"Or worst. He is the next ruler of the light kingdom."

Their conversation was cut off immediately when I screamed at the top of my lungs. Something warmth came out of my chest and the brightness almost blinded my eyes. I heard both of them shrieked helplessly in pain.

I guess I couldn't blame them for being such a coward. What a shame.

The next scene made my mouth a gaped in surprise. They vanished into the air. The tiny dust of glitters began to shower upon me. A smile was curved on my lips. This moment I felt victorious.

The ground floor of the palace started to shine slowly. The hallways, the hanging crystal chandeliers, and the bare walls glowed brightly with the sea of golden lights. There's nothing else for me to do was be amazed at the glorious scene before me.

This place on where I stood was like a humble home for the royal family. With all the luxurious things that surrounded around me. I felt I was a part of it, a missing piece to complete this majestic place.

If I heard it right. I was the next ruler of the light kingdom. I was their last hope to save the whole world from the darkness.

I held the knight sword tighter on my hands. A smile of relief was plastered on tired my face.

I am Apollo and I was destined to save you all.

I nervously opened the double doors. A cold air greeted before me. Waves of shivers began to kiss my neck with an icy fear. Before I step inside. I sighed deeply. I felt my heart raced accelerately fast.

This is it. All of my hard work must not go into waste. I had reached this far enough.

Without any hesitations. I finally entered the throne room.

Darkness was all over the place. I tried to get a control of myself. I couldn't let my phobia bring me down again in the depths of misery.

I caught my breath while the beat of my heart stopped its beating. Damn this is getting darker than I thought it was.

My entire world halted when I heard the voice of my beloved aunt somewhere in the throne room.

"Apollo," her shaky voice was loud and clear. "I'm here, Please dear get me out here!"

My heart skipped a beat. "Where are you auntie? I couldn't see a thing around here. Its so dark." I began to look left and right, hoping I could see a glimpse of her.

"Apollo. Use the knight sword on your hands. You need to hit it on the ground." she instructed briefly at me. "Hurry dear. We don't have enough time. Please do it before the shadow king returns," I could sense her voice was about to crack because of her hysterical screaming.

I heaved a sigh. I raised the knight sword up into the air. With all of my strength. I hit it aimlessly towards the ground.

I took a back step. The light shone brighy before me. I quickly covered both of my eyes. Then I saw my auntie stood alone inside the prison cell. Her gloomy face was brighten up instantly when she saw me standing few inches away from where she was at this moment.

I grabbed my opportunity to run towards at her direction. I don't care if my tears began to stream down on my eyes. What's important is, I had to get Aunt Jonah out in the prison cell as soon as possible.

"Apollo. You really came for me. I know you will come. I'm so proud of you." She said, touching my face. then she started to sob nonstop.

"Auntie, I will get you out of here. I promise." I assured her, caressing her hand softly.

"You grown up so brave. I'm very happy that you really face this difficult quest alone. I just wish your parents can see this. I'm certain. They will be so proud of their son. Who is extremely tough to face his fears."

With her praise words. I couldn't help myself but to cry helplessly in front of my aunt. There's nothing I could ask for. She was everything to me. She was my constant light everytime my life is in pitch dark. I was blessed to have a guardian like her. I would do whatever it takes just to protect her.

I was about to get a hold on the padlock. When I heard a menacing voice behind me. My heart beat unnaturally fast. I could sense danger ahead. Oh. No. This could not be good.

"How touching. Am I too late?" a deep voice broke the silence, as it entered the throne room.

I glanced around to see the shadow king. He was standing near the door, while a wicked smirk was plastered on his face.

His eyes sparkled in pure excitement when he stared at my direction. "Well isn't the young man named Apollo or shall I say the wannabe hero?" Then a mischievous smile crept on his lips.

I don't know why I felt intimidated by his presence. Then I began to tremble in fear. He had this ability to scare the hell out of me.

"Why are you in the rush Apollo? Aren't you gonna say anything at the shadow king?"

I couldn't speak up before him. like a quicksand, the words are stuck at the back of my throat, as I couldn't find my voice. Then I could feel my heart beat insanely fast and he was enough to shake my quiet walls apart.

Damn. I was speechless in front of the devil.
