Prologue

I do not own The Chronicles of Narnia, or any of its characters, names or places, except the OC character that I made up.

Note from the author; I would highly advise against anyone reading this story before Trail of the Traitors, that way the beginning and end will not be so confusing.

Year 1000, year of the fulfilment

Coming to stand next to the cell, I said to the minotaur, "throw him into this cell."

Walking forward, the Minotaur ruffly shoved the boy inside before slamming the cell door and locking it.

The boy tumbled to the floor, landing with cry of pain as he hit the cold ground.

Slowly he got up, turning to face me, the terror plainly evident on his his pale face.

"Do you know why you are here, boy?" I asked coldly, quietly enjoying the look of horror spreading across the face of the other boy.

"No-no your majesty", Stuttered the first boy.

Gesturing with my right hand too the second boy standing beside me, I replied, "Because he turned you, along with his family in, for sweeties".

Looking at the two boys, I reveled in the wave of hurt and betrayal that appeared on the face of the first, while enjoying the expression of the other boy, which bore the distinct expression of guilt and shame at having his lies revealed.

"Why? Why, Edmund? Is that true? I thought we were friends!", asked the first boy as his eyes shimmered with tears.

Edmund was clearly struggling for words as he refused to look at the other boy. Finally he replied, "I'm sorry Alex, I did not know this would happen. I just wanted you to trust me so I didn't tell you the truth about this place. Earlier the others would not come with me so I thought that I could get you on my side and tell you the story about it after it was all over. I never thought this would happen, honest Alex!"

Alex's face hardened with anger as he replied, "And you thought I would be ok with this! What did she do to you that made you think lying was the best way to gain my trust!"

I smiled cruelly, the words of the first boy like music to my ears.

The boy was not yet done, though, it seemed he was only just getting started!

"And are you meaning to tell me you not only betrayed me, but also your siblings, along with who knows who else! Is that how you treat your only friend, making them guilty for the same sin you committed, let alone whatever you did to your family!"

This one is very good with words, I thought, slightly impressed. This is going even better then I thought!

"What did she offer you, an endless amount of candy? revenge on your siblings? your own throne?", continued Alex.

Although he was clearly very angry, he surprisingly spoke in a calm, serious tone that held no hint of anger. just hurt. Instead it was his eyes that showed his anger, though he repressed even most of that.

Edmund looked absolutely distraught, and about ready to burst into tears.

The look on Alex's face on the other hand was as if Edmund had just stabbed him in the stomach and was now leaving him to die.

I couldn't figure out which one I liked torturing more!

Then, with a look of quiet finality as his face shone with tears, Alex spoke the words I knew would be the killing blow, saying,

"Or did she simply do what you just did to me?"

A sob escaped Edmund at those final words, but Alex was no longer looking at Edmund, but instead at me.

Gone was the terror he had looked at me with before and in its place was a stubborn determination. His anger was the spark that lite him, and every word he spoke on fire and overcoming his fear.

"I hope your satisfied, your majesty!" He spat, his eyes burning with a hazel colored fire.

Swiftly I reached inside the cell and grabbed him by the collar and pulling him forward, slamming his face up against the bars of his cell.

With a smile of satisfaction, I heard the crack of the boys nose breaking against the bars of the cell and laughed at the strangled cry of pain he made.

Blood spilled out of his nose, going down his face and onto my hand as I slowly tightened my grip on his shirt making it hard for him to breath.

On the left side of his face their was the beginning of a black eye and his left cheek was already turning purple.

He gasped for air but continued to stair defiantly into my eyes, anything even related to submission nowhere to be found.

Then he said mockingly, a smirk playing at the corners of his mouth, "I may not know very much about this world, but one thing I do know, You're Highness, is that you are no queen of Narnia, or at least not a real one, though you might fancy yourself as one. No, you're most definitely a witch! How else could you have gotten Edmund to do your bidding after only meeting you once! And for that you shall be judged!"

I wanted to turn the little brat into stone right their but alas, he could still be useful so instead I did the next best thing; I pulled the stone knife from out of a pocket and quickly brought the hilt down on his head.

Oh well, he would have been to much trouble to take along anyway. Perhaps he will be of more use to me later.

"Alex!", Edmund screamed as Alex dropped to the cold floor without even a sound.

He landed on his back, each of his arms splayed around one side of his head. His face was turned to the right, the bruises on his left cheek and eye now spattered with the blood coming from left side of his forehead, along with his badly broken nose, which was also bleeding.

Edmunds face became an ugly shade of green as he got his first clear look at his friends bruised and bloody face.

"You have courage, for such a small thing, boy. Pity I couldn't put you to better use. If it were not for the fact I still needed you, I would already have turned you to stone, or killed you outright, for your insolence."

Then, as Edmund wretched into a corner, I turned to the minotaur and said, "Watch him until I get back, or I send you express orders to bring him to me. If I should find him gone or dead when I return, I shall have your head."

The minotaur nodded and replied, "Yes your majesty".

Then I strode out of the dungeon calling, "Come along, Edmund, we must reunite you with your family!"

Looking back at the cell for a moment I smiled cruelly at the sight of Alex's badly beaten body on the floor of the cell, reminding me that Alex was not the first, little king to stain the cells floor with his blood, nor were he and Edmund the first foolish young princes she had caught.

No, a hundred years before their had been another boy only about three or four years older then these two that had received the same treatment, and worse.

The idea that it had been that long since I had, had any fun like that appalled me. I made a mental note to change that with these two new pets of mine.

Edmund came hurrying up to me, his face streaked with tears and his eyes wide with guilt and terror. I stared at him coldly for a second before I smiled and wiped my bloody right hand on the front of his shirt.

Then I said, "Their. Now his blood is on you!"

Edmunds face went a couple of shades paler at this analogy of the situation, more guilt and shame practically cracking his face open.

This was going to be fun.

Just like last time.
