Chapter Twenty Four

The weather was warming up around the castle and quidditch season was back up as Hope was preparing for the upcoming match against Ravenclaw. Henry was desperate for Gryffindor to destroy Ravenclaw just so he could rub it in McGregor's face. But he wasn't sure how well the game was going to go since McGregor and Hope still seemed to be smitten with one another. When it was just him and Hope, things were great and Henry was at his happiest, but whenever McGregor jumped into the situation, Henry wanted to strangle him. Perhaps it was because whenever McGregor showed up, Henry automatically felt like the third wheel in the situation.

The morning of the match, he was walking right next to Hope who was complaining about Wood's stupid early morning and late evening practices before the match took place.

"But you're a morning person." Henry pointed out.

"I know...but not that early. And since when does Fergie get out of bed so early?"

"Well, you guys lost against Slytherin, this is your last chance to win if you guys want to win the quidditch cup this year."

"It would be nice to win the cup, but my life isn't solely depended on winning the cup, like Fergie."

"Can you blame him? Remember all the stories Harry told us about his father growing up? Wood had one thing and only one thing on his mind when he was in Hogwarts. And that was quidditch."

"And Todd." Hope snorted.

"Hush." Henry chuckled.

"I thought I smelled low tide."

The two stopped and turned around to see Peeves standing behind them, leaning against the wall in the corridor.

"And surprise, surprise...I find the SeaCow with Dopey Hopey."

"My advice would be to close your mouth, Peeves. It might help with the smell." Hope said.

Peeves narrowed his eyes at the girl as she smiled triumphantly.

"Ready to lose again?" Peeves asked her. "Poor Dopey Hopey couldn't even manage to win her first game of the year. I think the Gryffindor team would be much better off if they replaced you with..let's see, perhaps a wooden post."

Hope turned to Henry. "It's like he's speaking a different language. I can't understand him at all. Did you say something Peeves?"

"I can't hear anything?" Henry said as he looked everywhere but at the poltergeist.

"Perhaps it was just my imagination running wild again." she shrugged.

"You two think you're so funny..." Peeves huffed in annoyance.

"Oh there it is again, Henry. Did you hear it that time?"

"I think it was just the wind, Hope."

"Oh well, I guess it's not important then. We should keep going."

The two left down the corridor wearing cheeky grins as they whispered back and forth to each other.

Peeves was fully prepared to retaliate when he heard someone's throat clear behind him.

"What's this I hear about low tide?"

While most people had witnessed plenty of mothers go into Mother-Bear mode to protect their young, only few had witnessed one go into Mother-Mermaid mode.

Nixie glared at the poltergeist that was eyeing her. "You want to repeat what you said there?"

Upon reaching the quidditch pitch, Hope had to part ways with Henry to join the Gryffindor team, leaving Henry to head to the stands alone. As he sat down waiting for Stella, Eliza and Teddy to arrive, he looked over to see his father and Remus entering the stands with a familiar face joining them to watch the match. Henry smiled to see Hope's Greatpa Lyall come to the match, knowing that Hope would be thrilled to see the man there.

He heard footsteps near him and turned to see Eliza climbing into the stands with Teddy trailing behind her.

"Where's Stella?" Henry asked them.

"She wasn't feeling well.' Eliza said. "She was in the Great Hall this morning for breakfast and then I think she went back to bed."

"I guess you could say that she's running low on steam." Teddy said.

Henry and Eliza stared at him while the boy shook his head. "If Hope was here, she would laugh her head off at that. You two don't appreciate good humor." he huffed before sitting down.

"I do appreciate good humor." Henry told him. "That wasn't it."

Eliza smiled as she sat down and looked down to the empty pitch. "I'm assuming Hope and Elliot have joined their respective teams."

"Well, I haven't seen Elliot today," Henry said. "But Hope went with the Gryffindor team just a few minutes ago."

"I wonder how today's game will go." Eliza wondered out loud. " I mean to think the boy she's seeing is on the opposing team-" She stopped herself as Teddy motioned her to stop from behind Henry. "I mean...and Elliot is there too!"

Teddy facepalmed hard at her statement before shaking his head and looking away. Before Henry could retort, Teddy had turned his head to the point where he saw his father and grandfather.

"Oh Merlin..is that Grandpa Lyall?" Teddy asked.

"Yeah," Henry answered. "I guess he came to cheer Hope on."

Teddy groaned. "I really really hope he doesn't take his shirt off again when he gets too into the game."

The three shuddered as they remembered the disturbing memory.

"You have to admit though," Eliza spoke up. "He's quite strong to rip through a shirt at his age. I don't think I could do that."

"Well yeah, he...oh...oh no. He's putting on face paint. Someone stop him." Teddy pointed out.

"Would you let the man have a good time, Teddy?' Henry laughed.

"I'm just trying to look out for Hope, this could be very embarrassing for her."

Henry caught sight of movement in the distance and saw Hope jog out from where the teams were waiting for the match to start. She ran across the pitch to where her grandfather and great-grandfather were in the stands with a bright smile on her face.

"I don't think she seems all that bothered by it." Eliza said. "And if she is...she's really good at acting."

Eventually, the match started as everyone mounted their brooms at the sound of the whistle. The snitch was released and the teams were off in the air. Hope apparently, wasted no time sending the first bludger to the Ravenclaw team nearly clipping Elliot's foot. While the two were great friends, out on the quidditch pitch, all friendly ties were off. If there was one thing the Weasley family taught Hope, there were no friends out on the quidditch pitch. It was Hope's duty to protect her teammates and destroy the other team.

Henry smiled as McGregor came close to getting hit as well. He seemed rather surprised that Hope took aim at him . With Peeves' taunting words and her Greatpa's presence at the game fueling her, Henry knew it was going to be a victory for Gryffindor.

And a victory for him as well to watch McGregor get his ass handed to him.

The Gryffindor students roared loudly in the stands as they destroyed Ravenclaw 270-70. Henry cheered obnoxiously loud, but didn't come close to outcheering Lyall who dominated the stands with his hollering. Hope was incredibly red in the face, a mixture between playing a good game and the embarassment of her small fanbase. But as soon as she saw Henry, she leaped at him, nearly causing the boy to crash to the ground. It was a small victory of the season, but it was a victory nonetheless for the team.

"You were great out there!" Henry told her as he set her back on the ground.

"It was an amazing game, did you see Fergie? He was out for blood, the game was just..." she fell back onto the grass.

"Fergie? Hope, all eyes were on you! You destroyed Ravenclaw!" Henry said.

She grinned. "You don't think I was too hard on them, did you? I felt bad when I clocked Elliot in the shoulder."

"You know Elliot understands quidditch injuries better than anyone, I don't think he'll hold it against you." He chuckled. "But really, it was a spectacular game. Did you hear your greatpa the entire time?"

"I'm pretty sure people in Japan heard Greatpa Ly Ly." she laughed.

"This calls for a celebration!" Henry said. "I got something for you..just in case the situation arose."

Hope lifted her head from the ground. "What did you get me?"

"Well, it rhymes with rocolate."

Her eyes became bright as Henry smirked at her expression. "I can tell that you figured it out, so come on!" he offered his hand.

"Okay....oh wait...before that though...I should probably head to the Hospital Wing and see how Elliot and Benji are."

Henry grimaced. "Right...Benji."

Hope placed her hand on her shoulder. "I'll only be fifteen minutes or so. Okay? Then we'll get chocolate wasted."

"Yeah okay." Henry said braving a smile for her. 'I'll be in the common room."

He watched as she smiled back at him before leaving, leaving him to sigh loudly in frustration.

"You're killing me, Black." Teddy said suddenly leaning on Henry's shoulder. "Absolutely killing me here."

"What? What did I do?" Henry gave him a bewildered look before shoving Teddy off of him.

"Why don't you just tell Hope?"

"Tell her what. I already told her, Teddy. Hope isn't the problem...it's McGregor...I just don't want him around."

"Because you like Hope-"

"I do not! Not like that...it's not like that."

"Then why don't you like McGregor?" Teddy crossed his arms. "Because Hope hangs out with plenty of other boys in the school...yet that doesn't seem to bother you ...I never hear you complain when she hangs out with Fergus.'

"That's different." Henry grumbled.

"It's different because you like her and he likes her...he's competition." Teddy said. "That's why McGregor bothers you, because you two are after the same person."

"Why are you smiling like this is a good thing!?" Henry snapped at him.

"I'm just so proud of myself for calling it first. So I'll be the one to say I told you so, and I'm going to stick this finger...right here..." he lifted his left index finger and placed it in Henry's face. " ...and stick it right in your face!"

"Get out of here, Teddy!" Henry smacked the boy's hand. 'Don't you have other things to do, like bother someone else?"

"Unfortunately, my token person to bother is feeling quite ill right now. Although I suppose I could see what Victoire is up to for the day. I'm surprised to see she didn't come out to the game."

"Why? No one else is. She gets cold easily.'

"If she would just wear the jumper Ellie made her, she wouldn't have that problem!"
