Chapter Six

Hope stared down at her homework assignment for Ancient Runes as she sat on one of the common room sofas in front of the fireplace. With her knitted quilt resting over her lap, and her Ancient Runes Made Easy book open beside her, she was reviewing over a runic script when Henry arrived with his textbooks.

"About time." Hope said not looking up from her work. "What took you so long, I was beginning to think you drowned during your shower."

"I like my shower time. Okay?" Henry said before shaking his hair out before her, allowing a few droplets to hit her in the face.

"Lovely." she said before wiping her face. "Well, at least you don't stink."

"And my hair smells delicious and I look immaculate."

"Ooh look at you, using sophisticated vocabulary. Two points to Henry." she said with a slow clap. He made a face at her before plopping down beside her, knocking her book to the floor.

"Ooops."

"Pick. It. Up."

"Don't you give me the badger face!" he scolded her.

"Don't give me the puppy eyes!"

He pulled her blanket away from her with a mischievous grin.

"Henry, you know that if you do anything to that quilt, I will destroy you." she threatened. Henry looked down and realized it was Hope's blanket that she had slept with shortly after her birth, made by her mother. It was her nap quilt, full of plenty of memories making her very protective over the blanket.

He quickly placed it back down.

"Right, didn't know it was that blanket." he said giving her leg a pat and sat back down. "Truce?"

She narrowed her eyes at him before she smiled. "Truce. Now can we finish this assignment before we have to head to the Astronomy Tower tonight?"

"Yes, yes. " he said opening up his book. He looked down at the assignment and quickly closed his book back over. "Nope, Nope."

"Henry!" She opened his book back up and placed parchment paper in his lap."There you go. Get started."

Henry let out a loud whine that didn't resemble any type of human noise that Hope had ever heard.

"What in the world was that?" she asked him.

Henry cleared his throat and shrugged. "I dunno, must be merfolk related."

"That didn't sound very mermaid like, you sounded like a dying whale.'

"Thanks."

"Anytime. Now more writing, less whining."

Henry and Hope loved Astronomy for the laid back atmosphere of the class, especially since Sirius was the professor. But the two knew all of Sirius' star jokes and puns so well that they could go through all of them before Sirius even had a chance to start up the class.

"I love this class but it's so hard." Hope said. "Astronomy just goes right over my head."

"Ha." Henry laughed flatly. "I'm sorry Hope, but I think we need our space."

Hope pouted at him. "Why so Sirius?"

"I guess you can say I'm like the moon and I'm just going through a phase."

"Not the dark side!"

"I'm afraid so, I'm sorry, I didn't planet."

"I have no comet for you!" she turned her back to him. "All along I thought you were something spacecial. But I was wrong."

"I don't think you understand the gravity of the situation!"

"Alright you two," Sirius voice alerted the two making them look back over their shoulders. "If this is your way of telling me that I slip in one too many puns during class, point taken!"

"What? No, we love your puns." Henry told him.

Hope grinned.

"Yes, they're some of the brightest."

"I really wish girls would stop calling my father handsome and I really wish guys wouldn't talk about my mum like I'm not there." Henry shuddered as he and Hope were on their way back to the Gryffindor Common Room.

"I'm guessing you heard Stevens then?"

"How could I not?"

"Just ignore him Henry, if anything, you should be the one flattered."

"Why?"

"Well, people think your father is handsome and your mother is beautiful, which means you are the product of two very good-looking people. The result being that you're quite handsome yourself." she said with a wink.

"Oh stop it, you!" he said turning his head away bashfully with a silly giggle.

"You're so weird, Henry."

"Right, but it's one of your favorite things about me. Just admit it."

"No thanks."

He made pitiful sniffing sound and looked at her.

"Oh no, don't make the face..." she covered her eyes.

"Hope wait don't..." Henry flinched as she walked into right into the wall. "Ouch."

He hurried over to her side and looked down as she was lying on the floor.

"Are you okay there?" he asked.

"Besides my ramming my face into the wall...I'm feeling amazing!" she waved her hands in the air.

He grabbed her hands and pulled her up to her feet. "Let me see."

She stood still for a moment as he examined over her face. "Well, your nose is a little red, but everything else looks okay." he told her.

She rubbed her nose for a moment.

"Still hurts though."

"Want me to kiss it and make it feel better?"

"NO!"

"Aww come on, just a little smooch!"

'Henry, back away!"

Henry puckered his lips before Hope took off down the corridor.

"You didn't have to hit me so hard." Henry said rubbing the back of his head.

"I did too." Hope told him as the two were back in the common room later on that evening.

"Does your nose still hurt?"

"No."

"See? My kisses have magical healing abilities." Henry announced proudly puffing his chest out.

"I wish they could cure what your mind has become."

"Listen Ope,"

"What is it, Ry?"

"Quit hogging the blanket, woman."

"This is my special blanket, go get your own."

"Sharing is caring."

"Well, I don't care."

"Hope!"

'Alright, alright! Little cry baby, you are." she moved the blanket over onto the two of them. "Are you happy, now?"

"No, I'm Henry. Say it with me, Hen..ry."

"Idiot. There, did I say it right?"

"Not even close."

"Oh well, Henry...Idiot... they mean the same thing."

"Just like Hope and Dope."

"You better be nice, Henry, I have control over the amount of blanket I share with you."

"Umm....I think you're beautiful."

"Don't try to butter me up now!"
