Chapter Forty Six
With Ilvermorny students sitting at the Gryffindor table and the Durmstrang students sitting among the Hufflepuffs during the feast, Hope was all too excited to talk with some of the newcomers. The feast was underway after McGonagall welcomed both schools to Hogwarts. While the professors conversed over their dinner, Hope was finding it all too difficult to sit down at the table as she quickly left Henry's side and planted herself in between two older students from Ilvermorny.
"Hi!" She greeted them bright extending her hands out to them. "I'm Hope Weasley...of Gryffinpuff."
"Gryffinpuff?" One of the girls repeated, shaking Hope's hand with slight hesitation. "I thought it was Gryffindor?"
Henry clapped his hand over his face shaking his head.
"Well, it is, but I also consider myself an honorary Hufflepuff, since they wouldn't allow for the House of Hope. So I'm a Gryffinpuff, or Huffledor. Hufflegryff? Gryffinhuffle? Puffdor? Dorpuff?"
"This is her way of saying hi and welcome to our school." Henry said sitting across from the three. "It's called the Weasley Welcome."
"Weasley...where have I heard that name before..." The other girl said thinking it over.
"The Weasley family is quite extensive," Henry told them, " don't be surprised if you-"
"The war!" One of them piped up. "The Weasleys were one of the families that fought in the war...they're on the Chocolate frogs, remember, Kendall?"
"Oh yeah, now I remember. There was Ron Weasley and El-"
"That's my mum!" Hope said proudly.
"Ron? Was your mother?" The one named Kendall said with a baffled look. Hope raised a brow before giggling.
"No, Ron's one of my uncle. Eleanor's my mother."
"She's the one who knitted for the war." Kendall nodded her head, turning slightly red with an embarrassed look. "Wow, that's awesome."
Hope kept smiling. "Keep saying more words, I love your accent!"
"Well, I think it's official." Fergus chuckled that evening as the feast came to an end. " Hope wore herself out."
Henry and Fergus looked down at Hope who was asleep at the table, her head resting upon her arms. The boys smiled at one another before walking over to wake her up and help her back to the Gryffindor tower.
The Great Hall was clearing out but Teddy made his way over to apologize to his niece for his earlier outburst that he took out on her.
"Wow...she's really out of it, isn't she?" Teddy said as he stood behind Hope. He picked up the girl's hand and dropped it back down. She didn't even flinch from the movement.
"I think she wore herself out with how excited she was." Henry said. "You should have seen her talking to Kendall, she kept telling the poor girl to talk so she could hear the "American" accent. I think she's done for the night."
Teddy scratched the back of his head with a small frown. "Do you think she was upset with me earlier when I yelled at her?" He asked.
"No, but I was." Henry replied giving him a look. "What was with that? She was only excited, you didn't have to snap at her like that."
"Well, becoming the protective boyfriend, are we?" Teddy smirked. "Anyways, I didn't mean it, I wasn't upset with her, it's just..."
He glanced over in the direction of the Slytherin table where Stella was walking besides the Nott boy.
"It's complicated." He turned back to Henry. " Just let her know if she wakes up that I'm sorry."
"Or you can tell her in the morning." Henry smiled at him before giving him a clap on the back.
As Teddy walked off, Henry stood beside Hope and began to shake her shoulder. Eventually, she stirred from her slumber and gave him a sleepy look as she lifted her head.
"Hi Ry."
"Hey Ope." He grinned. "Come on, we're heading back to the Gryffindor Tower, I think it's time for you to go to bed and get some much needed sleep."
"Hey where did everybody go?" Hope asked looking around.
"To bed, Hope. The feast has been over for quite some time."
"Oh." She said rubbing at her eyes and sitting up fully. "Aww I hope I didn't miss out on too much, did I?"
"No, not at all. Let's go," Henry said turning his back to her.
Hope just stared at him for a few moments before Henry cleared his throat.
"I don't have all day, Hope."
"Oh right!" She laughed before pushing herself up, but instead she tripped over the bench and fell to the floor. Henry flinched as he looked down at her.
"Are you okay?"
"I think...I think I'm just going to sleep here for the night." Hope said caressing the floor.
"No, Hope, we're going to get you to bed."
After a five minute struggle of convincing Hope to get off the floor, Henry had her on his back, carrying her towards the Gryffindor tower. He was incredibly thankful that she was quite light because as he reached the stairs to head to the portrait entrance, he was completely exhausted.
Giving Elizabeth the password, he entered and made his way to the sofa, placing Hope down. He plopped down beside her to catch his breath. Already, the girl was falling back asleep as she leaned against him. Henry was stuck in place as she curled into his side. Too exhausted to try and get Hope to go to her own bed, Henry cuddled up into her in front of the fire and fell asleep himself.
Concerned that Henry still wasn't in bed, Fergus traveled down the stairs from the boy's dorm to find the two asleep on the sofa. He smiled to himself with a small nod before heading back up the stairs and grabbing Henry's blanket.
He returned and threw it over the two before returning back to the dorms for bed.
