Chapter Fifty
"Eliza, what did you do?" Stella turned to her sister with a wild expression, but Eliza offered no clues as she remained calm in her face with the knowing smile.
"Just watch, Stella." Eliza grinned. "Just watch. "
Hope looked at her two cousins, before turning in Henry's lap to face the boy. "You don't she..."
Henry's eyes widened at the prospect of Eliza actually taking it upon herself to enter the tournament.
"No," he shook his head in disbelief.
"This is Eliza we're talking about here." He whispered to Hope. "She wouldn't do something like that, it's completely out of the norm for her."
No longer facing each other, the teens faced the Goblet once more to see Professor McGonagall standing beside the cup. She looked around, her eyes holding the look of disbelief and confusion as she figured the scenario seemed all too familiar. Only the last time it wasn't her standing in that spot, it was her mentor and lifetime friend until the end. Albus Dumbledore had a way that made students feel safe even in the most dangerous of situations and through his older years, he had done so much. With the help of many other wizards and witches, the dark times were over and a new era had begun.
Looking at all the hopeful faces that were willing to enter the tournament, the woman took a deep breath. It was her time to be the one to look after her students and guide them to be everything they could potentially be. To move forward, she would have to let go of the past as much as it dwelt in her mind.
Voldemort was dead.
Albus Dumbledore was dead.
But so many people were alive, trying to live their lives and not be jaded by the darkness of the past. The Goblet was familiar as was the Triwizard Tournament, but she vowed things would not be the same under her watch. With professors new and old surrounding her that had experienced the dark times, she was fully prepared to take on anything the tournament through her way and the way of her students.
The first team was cast from the Goblet.
"Representing Ilvermorny." She announced. "Is the team consisting of Tyler Wells, Phoebe Clatters and Josue Garcia."
The students cheered as the students from Ilvermorny congratulated the students that would be representing them.
Henry suddenly felt all nervous to hell, as Eliza's smile never faded from her face. Looking across the way as he wiped his sweaty palms on his robes, he caught his mother's eyes. The mother had a look of concern on her face as if silently pleading that Henry had stayed true to his words of not entering. He gave her a reassuring look, knowing that he honestly didn't enter his name in the goblet. Neither did Hope, they had respected the wishes of their friends and families and decided to play it safe.
Looking away from the direction of his parents, he could see Teddy standing beside his father, along with Victoire. The boy looked irritated beyond belief as his arms were folded, staring in the direction of the goblet.
Victoire whispered something to him with an encouraging look but he shook his head profusely and stared down at his feet.
There was so much going on in the room that Henry's head was so wrapped up that he didn't even hear who had been selected for Durmstrang. He saw two boys high five each other as the clapping continued before he shook his head to focus.
He wrapped his arms tighter around Hope's waist as Hogwarts was the last to be called.
Professor McGonagall grabbed the slip of paper and looked down at the representatives of Hogwarts. Her eyes perked open for a bit, seemingly surprised before she looked up and cleared her throat.
"Representing Hogwarts." She said. At the same moment, Henry swore he could hear everyone in the room hold their breath.
"Eliza Weasley!"
Stella let out a horrified cry as she looked to her sister in complete disbelief but Eliza seemed unphased in that moment.
"Eliza, what-"
"Stella Weasley!"
Stella's face completely paled as her jaw dropped. She obviously wasn't the only one surprised as Teddy looked mortified across the way. Elliot didn't even blink as he shook his head back and forth rapidly.
Henry sighed in relief at Eliza's plan to enter her sister and then to probably enter Teddy to soothe over the battling, but McGonagall quickly made sure to crush that idea for the boy.
"Hope Weasley!"
Hope had been mid clap when her hands froze in midair. Her eyes widened as well as her grandfather's as she had been completely blindsided.
"What?"
She turned to face Eliza. "Me? But...you...I thought..." She looked in the direction of Elliot or Teddy.
"You obviously thought wrong." Eliza finally spoke. "Besides, I thought we could use some good ol' Weasley bonding throughout this. Not to mention Hope, you're always complaining you don't spend enough time with Stella and me. Here's your chance.
"But-"
" Sorry, Henry," Eliza looked to the boy. "Nothing personal for not selecting you to the team. But the last time Hogwarts joined the tournament, there were three boys competing against one girl. I figured it would be nice to show a little girl power. Not to mention, we're representing all the houses. Slytherin, Ravenclaw, and Hufflepuff and Gryffindor fall under the House of Hope, so we got that covered."
Before anyone could say anything to the girl, Elliot had made his way over, tears at the brink of his eyes as he stared at Eliza.
"How could you do this?"
The tension was clear and thick in the room leaving all to feel incredibly awkward instead of celebrating the team of Champions to represent Hogwarts.
Hope turned around to look at Henry.
"Dun...dun..."
"Done." Henry finished.
