"Honey have you seen my swimming goggles?" Makoto called out in a panic from their bedroom and mostly destroying it in hopes to find his missing object.

"Why do you need them for new years? I thought we were staying in to watch the fireworks" Yamazaki asked with a raised eyebrow from where he was settled down on the sofa, leaving some random show playing in the background on their tv.

"We are and I don't need them tonight or tomorrow but I'll need them for work next week" Makoto  sighed as he ran a hand through his hair and wondering where he's left them.

"Worry about them during the bank holidays" Yamazaki mumbled back with a small shrug and glancing towards the living room door, waiting for his boyfriend to come through them.

"Yeah okay" Makoto agreed in defeat and stepped out of their bedroom before heading towards the living room again.

"Come here, Stud. Give me some affection already" Yamazaki smirked as he opened his opens and wiggled into the sofa better to hold all of his boyfriend weight.

"Don't complain when I won't let you go ever again" Makoto warned with a grin as he happily skipped over to cuddle.

"As long as you give me toilet breaks you can have me for the rest of your life" Yamazaki bargained back as he wrapped his arms around his lover once he was laid and snuggling onto of him like a lazy can.

"Hmm, I can live with that" Makoto hummed out rather content.

They stayed as lazy and cuddly as possible for the rest of the growing day. Watching Christmas repeats and happily skipping the news that only seemed to talk about the new years fireworks that'd be live broadcasted on every channel tonight.

Makoto could handle seeing the fireworks in the new year's eve drunk and excited coward with complete ease. But Yamazaki didn't enjoy the busy and loud cowards of drunks and making memories groups. He didn't overly enjoy fireworks either but could cope with watching it on the tv at least.

It might not seem the most fun way to spent new years eve as a couple of six years but it was perfect for the pair of them. And that's all that mattered, each other own happiness.

Yamazaki glancing to the clock almost every couple minutes until it finally started getting dark outside and he made an effect to cook his boyfriend's favourite home cooked meal. And smiling like an idiot to himself when he took notice over the chilled deserts in the fridge, his own favourite desert made by the love of his life and making him feel even more loved then normal.

Normally Makoto was a danger to all and any kitchens, he couldn't cook and was simply the devil of destruction whenever he tried to cook. But making deserts was a skill he did seem to have and while it'd never be restaurant level, they were always nice to eat.

So, with filled bodies and happiness radiating from the both they returned to snuggling on their sofa and contently watched The Nightmare Before Christmas together. A favourite of Yamazaki but he's only ever openly admitted it to his mother and his boyfriend who simple found it adorable.

Love sick smiles and warm eyes filled both their expressions as they silently accepted that their lives were already perfect and they had everything they could ever wish for. Well, almost everything. One of them were daring to make one tiny change in their lives and hoped it didn't blow up in their face instead.

And soon the time came.

The new years count down began all over the world and the pair were forced to sit on the edges of the sofa. Hands laced together and leaning closer to the TV to see the numbers better as the count down started.

Only looking away as Makoto noticed something under their coffee table and asked his boyfriend to reach over for the item. Yamazaki not really minding as he slipped off the sofa and leaned down to reach under their coffee table, feeling his boyfriend slip off the sofa beside him and expecting him to use his phone torch to help him see underneath.

He pulled out the goggles case with more ease than he'd expect before turning to face his partner who was kneeled down oddly. A nervous smile on his face and an anxious but hopeful shine in his eyes.

He quickly snatched the goggles case from his hands before turning it around as he opened them and finally everything fell into place.

"Yamazaki, I've always been a fool to believe in true love's kiss and soulmates because I believed that love came in so many forms and shapes that it was impossible to fully beat it out of a person's life. I never wanted to be a princess, a knight maybe but never a princess because I didn't want to marry the first person who I met. I wanted to stay with them for as long as possible and learn over who they truly stand to be. I wanted to make them laugh, smile and hear their voice until I could recognize it blind. You are the one person I see myself with in the future and you are the only person I want to spend with for the rest of my life. I know it's a bit old fashion in this day and age for couples to simply get married to stay together but I want you as my husband. I want our hearts to be linked as one and for our souls to be linked by two rings on our fingers. So, my darling Yamazaki .. will you make me cry tears of joy by marrying me?" Makoto softly but shyly spoke as he looked the love of his life in the eyes and took the leap to finally proposal to the one person he want's to be joined to him in body and soul.

"S-Shouldn't I be the one down on one knee" Yamazaki chocked out in shock, staring towards the ring that sat inside the goggles case, a ring chosen personally for him in mind.

"You've always felt forced to make the first move because you're seen as the strong male between us. I don't want you to feel forced to make me your husband one day. I want you to marry me because you love me so. You don't need to play to gender roles right now, just play to the tune of your own heart" Makoto smiled softly as he knew his boyfriend and hopefully to be  fiancé had always felt pressure to be the stereotype boyfriend the world pictures him to be.

"I'll marry you" Yamazaki says, his voice breaking a little and his eyes full of warmth and love as he knew he'd never want anyone but his soulmate as his own husband.

"You will?!" Makoto gasped back in shock and joy, his eyes sparkling as a bright and blinding smile stole his lips away.

"Yes dummy" Yamazaki snorted back, shaking his head amused over his boy- no, his  fiancé reaction.

"Is it okay if I cry now?" Makoto sniffled back, happy tears already filling his kind eyes and ready to flow down his face.

"Only after you actually put the ring on my finger" Yamazaki grinned back as he lifted his left hand and holding it out for the magic to happen.

"I'm not sure if it'd fit" Makoto sheepishly admitted as he took the ring out of the case, placing the case on top of the coffee table for now and shuffling to kneel with both knees to shuffle closer.

"Didn't you get my ring size?" Yamazaki questioned with a raised eyebrow, wondering how he could go wrong with the ring so soon.

"I tried. Really hard but it's not as easy as the films made it look. I tried taking your size while you were sleeping but you're such a light sleeper that you kept groggily waking up and I had to pretend that I simply wanted to hold your hand. Than I tried again with the play-doh trick but that failed. I ended up guessing your size by us holding hands and noticing my hand is only a tiny bit smaller" Makoto whined back with a huge puppy pout and giving sad puppy dog eyes over how difficult his now fiancé had made getting a ring size done.

"You gave me your ring size?" Yamazaki replied with a small frown as he knew the ring wasn't going to fit if he did.

"No. I went for the ring size above my own" Makoto perked back up with a proud look in his eyes.

"Just give it a try"  Yamazaki smirked back, wiggling his fingers towards him and smiling as his  fiancé gently took hold of his hand to slide the ring on.

And thankfully the ring was a perfect fit and finally as the two shared a loving kiss, the fireworks going off in the background without each noticing because they were finally going to stand as husbands in the future.

Now, their lives were complete.
