Prompt: Decorating the tree.

"Star or angel?" Kei asked as he picked up the tree toppers from the shoe box that held a small amount of Christmas decorations they brought with them from their parents place. 

"Tsukki you can't put the top decoration on first. It has to be done last. After the rest of the tree is decorated enough. It's the main star of the whole thing" Yamaguchi whined back from where he was finishing opening up the last packet of newly bought decorations they got to use on their apartment together. 

"It's just a decoration like everything else we're putting on the three" Kei sighed as he eyed the mess of packages and wrappers left on their floor. 

"But it's the last decoration that goes on to show a completed tree" Yamaguchi argued back as he jumped onto his feet and glancing to their smallish tree that sat on top of an end table pushed against the wall in the corner. 

"This is stupid" Kei grumbled back as he placed the star and angel back into the shoe box for now. 

"It's Christmas!" Yamaguchi cheered back with a goofy grin on his lips and hopping over the placed out baubles, tinsel and Christmas character/theme shaped ornaments. Along with the unfolded ceiling decorations left mostly untouched for now.  

"Not until another twenty-three days" Kei reminded his boyfriend with an roll of his eyes. He was only now willingly putting up the tree due to the Christmas decoration tradition that lands on the first weekend of December. 

"I'll let you pick if we use the star or angel" Yamaguchi offered with a soft smile as he hopped over to his boyfriend, wobbling as his foot caught the newly bought box they planned to put all their decoration inside of when it was time to put them away in storage. 

"I was going to let you choose" Kei admitted as he gently held his boyfriend's arms, steadying  him and pulling him safely close. 

"Maybe we should get one that we both like. I've brought the Star from home and you brought the Angel from your home. Maybe we should try buying one for OUR home. Than we can swap between the three of them for each Christmas we spend together" Yamaguchi muttered out his thoughts with a sweet smile, sliding his arms over his taller boyfriend shoulders and wondering over the little things they could do to make their home more their own. 

"We can think about it after we finish decorating the tree" Kei promised as gave a slight push to his affection boyfriend to get them back to decorating. 

"Gold or silver tinsel first?" Yamaguchi asked with a grin as he rushed over to the tinsel and holding up the two colours the chose on before. 

"Silver" Kei answered with a small smile. 

Christmas songs played in the background to help fill the content silence and bring the joy to them while they fought with their decorations. Arguing and getting frustrated over where everything should go or if they were at the correct height for the pair of them. Laughing at some of the funny shaped ornaments they each chose out and placing them on proud display for any visitors to see. 

Cleaning up the mess half way through to stop them all from tripping over them when trying to reach other decorations and soon having a mostly decorated tree. The lights left on just to give them a show over what it'd look like during the evening and they fancy sitting in the shine of the Christmas lights. 

"That's an ugly looking tree" Kei confesses as he stares at their finished tree, both cuddled up on their sofa and taking in the view of their fully decorated living room. 

"But it's our pretty tree" Yamaguchi proudly announced without any shame and happily resting his cheek against the other's shoulder, feeling the arm around his waist giving a comforting squeeze. 

"It's messy" Kei commented with a frown, glaring towards the tree as if it had personally insulted his like for strawberries. 

"Not every Christmas tree can seem like the ones in movies. And anyway, this gives off a more homey feeling to me" Yamaguchi huffed back before smiling warmly over how much more of a home their apartment was finally becoming. 

"You're way too sappy for your own good" Kei sighed as he pressed a kiss to his lover's hair, wrapping his second arm around him to hold him even closer. 

"I'll only grow more sappy as the years go past" Yamaguchi warned with a cheeky grin on his lips as he lifted his head to stare at the other. 

"I think I can handle that" Kei promised with a smirk of his own and leaning down to press their lips together for a sweet kiss. 

"Merry Christmas, Kei" Yamaguchi hummed back as they broke from the kiss. 

"Merry Christmas, Tadashi" Kei gently smiled back, knowing he'd want every Christmas to be spent like this. Ugly tree as well since it only build to their home like everything else did.
