Author's note

To put it very simply, dear reader, this was one of the first original stories I created on Wattpad besides my three fanfics.

"What?" You may say. "And it's taken you this long to publish it?" Believe it or not, this is one of the stories that has required the most amount of research to develop and write.

Also, until I read a certain story, SS. Olympus by laorangerose I did not have the confidence to publish it in fear of offending people. *cough* because of a certain character *cough*

Anyways, the story behind this story begins long ago.

It starts in a third grade classroom where a history-enthusiast like myself was reading a children's historical fiction book about time travel in Ancient Greece. Somehow or another, I ended up with a companion guide to another book in the same series that took place in Ancient Egypt, which I originally did not want. However, originally I had always been interested in history, but preferred reading fiction over nonfiction any day.

Instead of throwing it away, I casually read it, only to discover by the time I was done reading it that I wanted more and devoured it countless more times. From then on, I watched and read anything to do with the Egyptian cities of the dead and Ancient Egypt.

Even with the Percy Jackson phenomenon in middle school, none of my previous interests 'cept for my new fascination with Chinese culture and history could compare, and actually it could never compare.

A few years ago, I dreamt up a scene where two enemies met in the moonlight of Ancient Egypt, and instantly came up with the idea to write a historical fiction story as an ode to all the the documentaries, museum trips, encyclopedias, historical textbooks, research studies, etc. that I devoted my time to all to learn more about the fascinating world of Ancient Egypt. (Not that it was perfect, mind you.)

Consequently, Iris of the Nile (working title at the time) was born, a story set in the backdrop of Ancient Egypt, the Babylonian empire, Ancient Greece and a bit more of what would be modern-day Middle East.

I am so happy to share this with you and thank everyone for their continued patience regarding my other stories.

Thanks so much.

Peace out,

EdgemoonPR aka Edge

P.S. After watching a certain movie *cough* Gods of Egypt *cough* I was like...well...that was...well...so I worked on/posted chapters of the story to feel a bit better. It was like therapy almost. *laughs*
