Chapter 4 ( The apple of my eye)
Third Person P.O.V.
Lapis wavered in the sky, circling the human she discovered a week ago. (Y/n) seemingly surprised Lapis with how well he was coping with his disability. Observing him, he looked pretty normal and could get around just fine on his own. This time, when she hovered over him, she saw that he was wearing black glasses and she was unable to tell if where he was looking at. (Y/n), however, was very aware of a presence near him but decide to pretend he didn't notice it and continued picking apples for a pie he was intent on making.
(Y/n) was thinking deep in his mind, trying to remember this particular sound that he heard on numerous occasion but all he could think of was the sound being related to a bird. He thought to himself, if this was a bird, why would it not attack him like a normal bird would. He's surrounded by trees so there was no doubt he may have unknowingly disturbed a nest. Gripping a shiny red apple in his hand. He clutched it tightly before chucking it in the direction of what sounded like beating wings.
Lapis: Hey!
A female voice cried out in alarm.
Lapis's P.O.V.
Great....I just gave myself away. I was being as quiet as I could but I guess water wings aren't the quietest things in the world. Looking down at the human below me, I saw he was climbing down from the tree using a rather long ladder. He was carrying fruit back in the direction of his house. He was acting strange again. He knew I was here and yet he was pretending like he hadn't heard my voice at all but then he stopped in front of the door to his has, dropping the basket of apples beside him with a loud thud and turning around in my direction as I landed in front of his porch.
(Y/n): So your the one that's been creeping around here lately. Do you think doing that is funny?
Lapis: I didn't mean to make you angry, I just didn't know how to approach you that's all.
(Y/n): Maybe you could have started by introducing yourself like a normal person.
He said sourly. My eyes narrowed at him.
(Y/n): Look lady, you shouldn't even be all the way out here. Just go home.
He said before picking up the basket of apples beside him and headed for his door, though he was a little bit too far to the left and instead of being met with a door and a knob, his face was met with a hard bang to the wall when he stepped forward. Raising his hands hastily to grasp his pulsating nose, he dropped the basket of apples, causing them to spill all over the porch. One apple rolled all the way down from the porch and in front of my feet. Looking up at the human, his glasses had fallen off of his face from his impact from the wall.
Without thinking, I laughed at his actions. I wasn't so much as laughing because he couldn't see where he was going, I just thought he was funny. Besides, he seemed almost nervous to have someone over. He turned his head towards me with a blush before quickly turning away in embarrassment. Still, it fascinated me to be able to see his eyes again. They were still dull and colorless but I liked them.
Lapis: Here, let me help you.
I said before bending down to pick up the apples.
(Y/n): I can do it myself, I don't need your pity. I may be blind but my hands and feet work just fine.
He said before started collecting every apple that fell and placing them back into the basket.
Lapis: You collected them all.
(Y/n): Why are you saying that like your surprised?
He responded annoyingly before I went over to pick up his glasses.
(Y/n): I can see with my ears. Don't you know that already?
I felt a little bit confused at his explanation. He walked back onto the porch with me, he found my hand and snatched his glasses out of my hand before placing them back on his face.
(Y/n): Go away.
He said before going into his house and slamming the door. Looking down, I saw that he forgot his basket of apples.
Lapis: Don't you want your apples?
I called out to him.
(Y/n): I'll get them when you leave.
He said angrily. I didn't have anything to do so I could stand here all day until he came out and for some reason he knew this. I heard a deep sigh on the opposite side of the door before it opened up. The human scooted the basket of apples into his house with his foot before stepping aside.
(Y/n): Come in. -_-
I briskly walked inside, taking in the décor of his home. It was very colorful and more organized than our barn was. The kitchen was the first room when you walked into the house and so I took a seat at the table. The human came over momentarily and sat down on the opposite side of me. Honestly, when it comes to meeting new people, I'm not the most social person but knowing that he couldn't see me, it made it easier to talk and be around him.
(Y/n): Why do you have to act like a second Rose Quartz?
Lapis: Rose Quartz? Do you know her?
(Y/n): Not exactly but she insisted on being my "nurse". She kept telling me she was a gem. I think she was crazy.
Lapis: Well she is a gem, I'm a gem too?
(Y/n): Sure, your a gem and I'm not a blind guy.
He said sarcastically.
(Y/n): Rose probably called herself a gem because her name was a gem name.
Lapis: My name is Lapis Lazuli.
(Y/n): Gem names must be popular this time around, I guess.
He said before getting up from the table.
(Y/n): Anyway...."Lapis".......
He put emphases on my name as if it was something I made up.
(Y/n): If your going to be here, you can at least help me with this pie.
Lapis: Only if you tell me your name.
(Y/n): Sigh......it's (Y/n). Now get over here and start chopping.
