Chapter 14 ( Meepmorps)

Third Person P.O.V.

After the teams had a break, everyone was rather eager to continue the game. The game had gone on for  an entire hour. Everyone was having so much fun that they could play forever, even well into the night time. During this time, there had ben a big change in the game. Peridot had done something right and her team was coming on strong. At on point when Peridot was pitching, this wasn't something she could do. She couldn't throw the ball more than a few inches in front of her and after failing to throw a successful pitch to Pearl, she gave up in embarrassment and called over Steven to pitch for her.

Even Pumpkin was coming on strong. Whenever Pumpkin pitch, it surprised everyone. Pumpkin was small but he had a few tricks of his own. There wasn't a rule stating that he actually needed to use his hands to pitch, not that he could use his hands if he wanted, he didn't really have any. He did a lot of thinks with his mouth and considering the fact that he was brought to life by magic he could be skilled when he wanted to. He would pitch by putting the ball in his mouth and shooting it out with great force and provision. The juices and seeds that stuck to the ball made it harder to hit but whenever anyone did hit a ball pitched by Peridot's team, their holo Pearls would get the ball and go after you in a flash. They were so determined to get you out that they looked like they wanted to hurt you than tag you. Poor (Y/n) found himself nearing at second base when it was his turn to bat but was running back to first base when he heard the holo Pearls speeding his way.

On the other hand, it seemed like everyone was doing great except for Greg. It seemed like no matter how hard he tried, Greg couldn't make a single hit. He struck out every time but he so, (Y/n) always kept him confident. Even with such a close game, (Y/n) was still playing hard just as much as Peridot and he always seemed to bring out a new trick for someone without powers of his own.

When the chance came for (Y/n) to pitch, he had a trick ball that had an invisible but elastic string attached to it. When he threw it to Steven, all he had to do was pull his hand back slightly and the ball would sling shot back towards him like a yo-yo. The gems thought it was a very clever magic trick. Everyone was so sucked into the game that when Connie finally called an end to it in order to reveal the scores, everyone looked liked they had been brainwashed and where just snapping out of a daydream. Everyone anxiously went over to Connie who tallied up the scored on a notebook.

Connie: The score is 28 to 28....I think. Baseball scoring is kind of difficult.

Peridot: What? All of that and there isn't a specific winner.

Peridot said annoyingly.

Pearl: What Peridot means to say is that today's game will be a memorable one.

Connie: Yeah, I really enjoyed watching you guys. I'll definitely play next time.

Greg: You can take my place Connie....

Steven: This should totally be a family thing.

Greg: Good idea Steven. I rather liked being the umpire.

Amethyst: It was better than a normal baseball game. It was (Y/n)'s idea to use our powers.

Lapis: He had some really cool tricks I wasn't expecting.

Pumpkin barked in agreement.

Pearl: It was such a close game and it's already pretty late.

Pearl said as she gazed up at the nearly dark sky as the moon started to become visible behind thin clouds.

(Y/n): Hold on, Lapis told me that gems don't really need to eat but I made these.

(Y/n) said as he went over to dig for a decorative white box with a pink ribbon that contained the sweet and fluffy pastries.

Steven, Connie, Greg and Amethyst marveled at the sight before choosing the pastry to their liking.

(Y/n): Have as many as you like.

(Y/n) insisted.

Greg: Taste exactly how it did back in the god old days but even better.

Greg said as euphoria struck him while he at a slice of apple pie.

Connie: This macaroon is so light.....

Steven: You should taste this cookie, it's so brittle.

Amethyst: Mmmmmmmm.

Amethyst said as she stuffed her face that was covered in crumbs and cream.

Amethyst: Your....the best.....(Y/n).

Amethyst said during chews and bites.

Pearl: It was really nice meeting you (Y/n).

Peridot: We agree, Pumpkin and I enjoyed your company.

Garnet: I hope we see you more often (Y/n).

Connie: I hate to say good bye but we can always see you tomorrow.

Connie said.

Greg: You know (Y/n), I still can't believe after all these years you look so much younger than me. There isn't a speck of grey in your hair at all.

(Y/n): Really? I wouldn't know.....

(Y/n) said as he pointed to his eyes.

Greg: Just trust me, you look great.

(Y/n): Thanks.

(Y/n) said before he a voice called to him.

Lapis: I packed up everthing. Are you redy to go?

Peridot: Go where? I thought you were finally going to stay with me. Your always away.

Lapis: I just...thought I'd go stay with (Y/n) for a while Peridot but we'll always be barn mates.

Peridot: But.....but......

Peridot stumbled but couldn't finish her sentence. She seemed upset before running off into the barn.

(Y/n): Lapis....you don't have to.

Lapis: But I want to. Peridot will be fine. I know she will be. Pumpkin will keep her company and I promise I'll visit her. This was actually a very difficult decision. I was comfortable living wit Peridot and we made so many meepmorps....

Lapis said before walking off towards (Y/n)'s house. (Y/n) picked up the remaining boxes of equipment before jogging to catch up with Lapis as he followed the sound of her footsteps.

(Y/n): Bye you guys. It was fun playing with everyone.

(Y/n) yelled after them as he waved in the direction he thought everyone was in.

Steven: I never knew Lapis and (Y/n) where that close.

Pearl: She's actually going to live with him?

Amethyst: Well, she did say she wanted to find a good home. She was living at the barn which was comfortable and all but we have to think about whether or not she considered it to be home. Maybe her really home is with (Y/n).

Garnet: Lapis knows exactly what she's doing.

Garnet simply said with a smile as everyone looked up at her. After understanding what she meant.

The gems and Steven all said their goodbyes before they parted ways with Greg and Connie, though (Y/n) was still on everyone's mind.

Meanwhile.....

(Y/n) had heard Lapis fumbling about with a rather silky sounding frabric and had decided to ask her about it.

(Y/n): Lapis? Did you take the ribbon off of the pastry box.

Lapis: Yup. I need it for a meepmorp idea.

(Y/n): A meepmorp?

Lapis: It will remind me of the first time we played baseball together.

Lapis said and when they reached (Y/n)'s house, the first thing she did was take the silky ribbon and tie it around one of (Y/n)'s old baseballs and placing it on the shelf beside the picture of (Y/n) and his mom.
