Third Person P.O.V.

(Y/n) felt out of place as he felt the many eyes of these new people staring at him. He heard the voice of a young male as his sandals flapped against the ground when he came towards them.

Steven: Lapis, who's your new friend?

Steven asked. (Y/n) had caught the tone in Steve's voice and for some reason (Y/n) thought that Steven may have already knew who he was, despite the two never meeting before.

Lapis: This is (Y/n). He's the one that baked the apple pie for you guys.

Steven: Hi, I'm Steven, it's nice to meet you.

(Y/n): Nice ot meet you too Steven. I heard a lot about you.

(Y/n) said as he held out a hand to Steven waiting for him to grasp. Steven took (Y/n) hand joyously.

Lapis: Now he will always remember who your are.

Lapis looked at (Y/n) as he pushed his dark shades on his nose. No sooner had Steven came over to greet (Y/n) the gems all did the same.

Amethyst: Nice shades dude.

(Y/n): Thank you.

Lapis: This is Amethyst, Garnet and Pearl.

Lapis said as (Y/n) held out a hand for each name she called in order to better feel who was who.

Pearl: Wonderful to meet you (Y/n).

Garnet: It's always nice to meet new people.

(Y/n): The pleasure is all mine.

Steven: You still have to meet my dad and Connie, they should be here any minute.

Steven said and as soon as those words left his lips, a van was heard in the distance and a girls voice shouted out.

Connie: Sorry we're late everyone.

Connie said as the van came to a stop. The sound of two doors opening and shutting came after.

Greg: yeah, I haven't really played baseball but we wanted to make sure we had everything.

Connie: Yup, safety first.

Connie said as she padded the helmet on her head.

Greg had then began to unload his van with the extra equipment an lots of water. Taking one box, he turned around only to be recognize a familiar face and drop the box.

Steven: Dad? Is something wrong?

Greg didn't answer and stuttered out a name.

Greg: (Y/n)?

(Y/n): Greg? Your Steven's dad? I missed a lot. I didn't know you and Rose had a kid.

Greg: Yeah.....

(Y/n): Where is she anyway?

Greg: She's.......no longer with us.

(Y/n): Oh.....that does explain her absence.

(Y/n) could hear that Greg's tone was slightly sad and uncertain. There was an awkward silence between the two that was interrupted by another unfamiliar voice.

Peridot came running out of the barn as fast as she could.

Peridot: Wait, wait, wait, don't start without me, I just needed to go over the rules.

Lapis: Oh there you are Peridot.

Peridot: Hello Lapis and.....strange human I don't know. Why are you wearing those glasses, are you trying to be like the Garnet too?

(Y/n) could only think of waving at Peridot but he was waving the wrong way so Lapis had to turn him in the right direction.

(Y/n): Woops. O_O

Lapis giggled at (Y/n).

Peridot: Come on, let's get started.

Peridot pointed.

Peridot: I've gone over every possibility for the perfect team. I'll take first pick as the team captain.

Lapis: Peridot, you should let (Y/n) decide everything. He actually played baseball before.

Peridot: Fine but I still get to be a team captain.

(Y/n): That's fine. A normal baseball team is very big but we only have 9 players. That's basically one team and the number is odd but we can make it work.

Connie: I don't mind being the back up Mr. (Y/n), or the bench warmer or the water girl. Those three roles are just as important.

Connie said proudly.

(Y/n): Sure, if that what you want.

Connie: I won't let you down sir.

(Y/n): The numbers are even now. That's much better.

Pearl: We could play with Ruby and Sapphire. I'm sure they wouldn't mind.

Amethyst: They do get distracted though.

Steven: They don't like being apart anyway.

Everyone said as they looked at Garnet.

(Y/n): Garnet, I have the perfect position for you. Your going to be the umpire.

I said as I dug around in the boxes Lapis and I had brought along in order to give Garnet her proper uniform and mitt.

Pearl: We'll need someone standing the bases. You can leave that to me.

Pearl said as she brought out her holo Pearls for the job who immediately went to their proper bases. Amethyst went over and placed their team baseball shirt over them so that we'll know which one belongs on either team when they all rotate. Pearl also gave each team one holo Pearl to act as pitchers and catchers as well as infielders and outfielders.

Lapis: You can be the other team leader (Y/n).

(Y/n): If everyone's fine with that, we can start picking teams members.

Peridot: I'll go first. I choose Steven, Amethyst and Pumpkin.

(Y/n): That Leaves me with Greg, Lapis and Pearl- wait, who's pumpkin?

(Y/n) questioned before he heard what sounded like a puppy barking.

(Y/n): Um.....I don't think a dog can play.

Peridot: Of course he can and he's a pumpkin. He also makes a great Pearl.

Pearl: What....?

(Y/n): Ok..... well your team is up first Peridot.

Peridot: Come on team.

Peridot said excitedly.

Steven: I wish you luck dad.

Steven yelled from across the field as he prepared to bat first.

Greg: Go easy on your old man.

Greg teased.

Garnet: Ready? Batter up!

Garnet said to get everyone's attention.

Connie: Go Steven!

Connie cheered on the sidelines.

Looking back at his team who were more than ready to win, (Y/n)'s mind was focused on Greg who he had always had a rusty past with. If they were going to be on the same team, something had to be done to properly motivate Greg and so (Y/n) did what he thought was right.

(Y/n): Greg?

Greg: Yeah?

(Y/n): Try your best I'm sure you can do it. I just want you to know that there are no hard feelings between us. How we acted towards each other in the past should affect how we act to each other In the future.

Greg: I agree. I didn't dislike you or anything but we were both just different. It's kind of bad that we couldn't really be friends back then but now we have a chance.

Greg said as the two said as they shook hands.

(Y/n): Sausage fingers.

(Y/n) joked as he gripped Greg's hand.

Greg: Hey!

Greg chuckled.

(Y/n): By the way, win or lose everyone still gets pastries.

(Y/n) told Greg.

Greg:Really?! Now I'm super motivated. I'd do anything for one of your pies right now.

Greg said anxiously.

(Y/n): We should make this game interesting.

Greg: How?

(Y/n) then turned around to make an announcement.

(Y/n): Since this is a special game, everyone is allowed to use their powers.

Everyone was a little confused to the sudden news but their faces peeked with interest.

Pearl: Won't that be a little unfair for you and Greg?

Pearl questioned.

(Y/n): Don't worry Pearl, I'm sure Greg and I can come up with a few tricks of our own.
