One thing I remember throughout my whole life is being lonely.

I let out a sigh as I wandered down the desolate, barren back streets. The hot sun shone down on me, piercing through the light layers of clouds.

Warm sand ran over my feet as I walked down the pathway to the stream. The air was warm yet at the same time clear and humid; on either side of the path, long grass stretched up from the ground due to being untended.

I need to refill the well.

I adjusted the two large wooden pails in my hand as I came to the stream. It glinted in the sunlight as the blue water rushed along.

I knelt beside the river and ran a hand through it for a moment, allowing the comfortably warm water to trail over my skin. My skin reacted as my hand turned blue in response, bringing a slight smile to my face.

I love this river; it's the only one that I've seen that's actually blue.

I removed my hand from the water, which caused the camouflage effect to fade away as my hand turned pale again.

I leisurely gathered water in the bucket. Looking across the river, I observed the lush forest where I hunted. Large trees sat across the riverbank, their dark green leaves contrasting slightly with the tan-colored bark.

Around me, the soft chirping and tweeting of small birds seemed to echo in the deafening silence. A few of the small birds floated by in the river as they bathed and played with each other.

I watched them with a small smile on my face as a tiny ball of sadness opened up in my chest, creating an icy chill. I bit my lip as I stared at the birds.

I remember when the humans used to let me play with their children. But then...they began to hate me and excluded me.

I let out a sigh and stood up, picking up the now full pails as I did. Then I began walking back to my home, singing softly as I did.

"Lavender's blue, Lavender's green. When I'm a knight, you shall be my queen," I sang softly.

I walked all the way back to my home. My home was actually just one of the many old, abandoned houses in the village that I had managed to fix up to suit my needs.

When I arrived, I walked to the back of the house and filled the old cobblestone well with the water before I went inside.

I closed the wooden door behind me and placed the now empty buckets in the living room corner. My makeshift home was a small dome-shaped building with a fireplace carved into the hard stone. Other than a few things I'd made or found, it was as barren as the rest of the village furniture wise.

I let out a small huff as I surveyed my living room area.

"I'm home!" I called out, knowing no one would answer, that no one cared enough about me to answer.

But at this point, it was done out of habit more than anything.

Maybe, just maybe, one day someone will answer back.

I walked over to the ice chest and removed two of the fish I had caught yesterday. I placed them on the wooden table.

I began crudely sawing the heads off of them using my thick claw. After that, I skewered them with sticks, lit the fireplace, and began roasting them.

Here I was all alone, abandoned forever in the ruined city of demons.
