Chapter 14

I'm really sorry, peeps. Oh my gosh, I really have to make up to you because of my long long long long long delay. I don't know how many days, weeks, months or years I haven't updated but thank for staying tune. Thank you so much. I promise I'll be updating frequently from now on. I was just busy those days and I think I'll be more vacant this time. I love you all and I won't be saying anything more

...

Chanyeol woke up to hear someone humming downstairs. He lazily sat up from his bed as he took his time waking himself up. He blinked a few times before he stood up, knowing he's fully awake already. The humming still continued and the music was something Chanyeol could listen to all day long if not for the source of it.

"Hey," he greeted lifelessly as he grabbed a pack of fresh milk from the refrigerator and put it in a glass. He drunk the milk in one gulp before putting the glass on the sink and returning the fresh milk pack on the refrigerator.

Baekhyun ignored the greeting and continued cooking and at the same time, humming. He was confident on cooking since Kyungsoo had taught him how to last night. He didn't sleep in Chanyeol's house because of that reason. He remembered how his brother got annoyed because of disturbing his deep slumber. He messed up several times and wasted a lot but the outcome was nice. He got to cook real smooth already. And... he wasn't doing this for Chanyeol. He was doing this so that he won't embarrass himself in front of the guy. That was what he reasoned out as a defense.

"So, you already knew how to cook," Chanyeol whispered more like to himself. He still didn't want to talk to Baekhyun and the greeting was just a mistake. He was greeting to the kitchen not at Baekhyun. That was his ritual every morning, greeting lazily at the kitchen.

Baekhyun looked at his cooking before he was already satisfied and put it in a plate. He put it on the table and just then, he noticed Chanyeol was already there and was properly seated. He rolled his eyes and sat himself across him. The plates, spoons and forks were already prepared by Baekhyun and all they can do left is to eat.

Chanyeol almost, just almost, smiled at Baekhyun. He was impressed but he didn't want to admit it to himself and frowned. Baekhyun's bacon and eggs that were placed in front of him looks good and he was a bit hesitant if he should take a bite.

Baekhyun seemed to notice the hesitance on Chanyeol's eyes. "Why aren't you eating?"

"There's no poison in here, right?" Chanyeol blurted out.

Baekhyun could only roll his eyes and took a bite of his own food. It tastes good. He complimented his own cooking. "No, it doesn't have. I could have died if it has," Baekhyun answered, still chomping his own food.

Chanyeol nodded slowly before getting a piece of it on his fork and ate it. It tasted fine, not so good and not even bad. He was already satisfied with this. He wasn't even expecting much from the latter's cooking. In fact, he was even proud that the guy already knew how to cook.

"How does it taste?" Baekhyun asked as he observed how Chanyeol ate the food in front.

"It tastes fine," Chanyeol said honestly before continuing to eat. He didn't notice Baekhyun's smile on his face and the sparkle on his eyes when he said those words. Baekhyun was happy but he didn't want to admit that either.

...

They were back in business when they reached their companies. The board members already knew their decision and they thought it was a wise one. Those two companies weren't that big and massive but it would help them gain more than what they could have. Wu Cooperation is a rich company while Huang Enterprises is a strong one. Each has a different aspect that could make the merger more successful than it already was.

As usual, both of them were busy. The Park Industries and Byun Holding's building became one already. Baekhyun and Chanyeol sharing the same office since a new building wasn't build for them yet. They knew they have to wait some time for that. For now, they'll have to focus on the upcoming signing of contract for Huang Enterprises and Wu Cooperation.

Baekhyun let out a sigh as he paused working on the contract, he looked at Chanyeol who was making some papers. He looked away after that, he didn't want to get caught staring at him, which he wasn't. He was just looking if the guy was doing his work properly, that's all. There's nothing more.

Both of them weren't talking since yesterday. Well, sure they have talk but it wasn't enough to lighten up the air between them. Baekhyun felt guilty for what he did but he can't do anything and so he went back to his work.

Minutes or so, Baekhyun was done making the contract and all there's left to do is to print it. He could've automatically print it, if not for the other businessman using it. Papers and papers went out slowly from the printer, Baekhyun thought it won't stop. "When will that stop?" Baekhyun asked with a tone of impatience.

"What?" Chanyeol looked up at him with boredom.

"I mean your papers," Baekhyun added, "Is it that important?"

"Why can't you just wait?" Chanyeol was irritated at the tone Baekhyun was giving him.

"Fine," Baekhyun grumbled and slumped back on his seat with his arms crossed in his chest. "Why is it taking so long?" Baekhyun uttered to himself which Change had heard clearly. He hated people pressuring him to do things the fast way when it's better to do it slowly and carefully. People should be more patient. "Will you stop complaining?! You're talking as if it's my fault why it took so long. Go talk to the printer," he ranted.

"Yeah, maybe I should. Hey, printer can you do that faster," he said sarcastically.

"I think it's not good when we're breathing the same air," Chanyeol said.

"Yeah, it's really not. I don't like it here."

"And you think I like it in here? Dude, the feeling's just mutual."

"I shouldn't have agreed in being your servant. What's the point?" Baekhyun scoffed.

"And I shouldn't have agreed to the merger. What's the point even?" Chanyeol huffed.

"You know what?" Baekhyun said, "I think you need to leave."

"This is my office. Why would I leave?!"

"Asshole."

"Bitch."

"Jerk."

"Brat."

"Stupid."

"Selfish."

"Giant."

"Smurf."

"Fuck you."

"Fuck you, too."

"Go away."

"Why would I?"

"I want to be away from you."

"If you want to, then you should be the one to leave."

"I have work here."

"I also have work here."

Suddenly, their argument was cut when the printer created a very, long and annoying noise. "Your printer's old," Baekhyun teased.

"And so are you."

"I'm not that old like your printer."

"Just shut up," Chanyeol ordered which made Baekhyun close his mouth, much to his dismay.

Chanyeol fixed the printer. Turns out that the bondpaper was placed the wrong way and all he needs to do is to pull it out. The printing continued and Baekhyun's face contorted once again. "It's not done yet?!" He whined, "What's that anyway?" He stood up and looked at the papers that was printed. "Oh," Baekhyun could only say, "Sales and Profit of the company."

"Yes, you have a problem with that?"

"No. But do you still need to print it?!"

"Yes, because our main company is in Seoul."

"You still have to move back there?" Baekhyun asked, sadness depicted on his tone and Chanyeol sensed this.

"Yeah," Chanyeol simply said.

Baekhyun nodded slowly as he sat back down on his seat. There was silence on the room. And it was an uneasy one. Since when did silence became comfortable? Ever since Baekhyun and Chanyeol had been together, silence for them should be avoided.

"Don't you think its good if you move your main building here?" Baekhyun suddenly talked, breaking the silence.

Chanyeol paused and turned to look at him. He wanted to see if Baekhyun was playing a joke on him but he saw only seriousness. "I have to move again?"

Baekhyun looked down and begin fiddling his hands. Chanyeol thought he was in deep thoughts. "How about I move in there?"

"What?!" They said in unison.

"No! Oh my God. No. Yes. I mean what the hell, I didn't mean it that way," Baekhyun ranted nonstop and mentally killed himself. He didn't mean to say those words out loud. He swear his mouth had some mind on its own.

"And you were the one who said that it's not good when we breath the same air." Chanyeol can't help but to smirk. "But I won't mind at all."

Baekhyun rolled his eyes and looked at him. "I think I remembered you agreeing that you don't like us breathing the same air."

Chanyeol chuckled. "What? I don't remember anything?" He said innocently.

Baekhyun just groaned. "The printing is done already. It's my turn," he changed the topic but Chanyeol didn't let him.

"So? Are you going to move in Seoul or what?" Chanyeol's tone became serious and Baekhyun knew he should answer it seriously. He shrugged. "I don't know."

...

Baekhyun and Chanyeol was already on the house. Of course, it was no other than Chanyeol's  house. Where else could they be? Baekhyun was on his room and Chanyeol on his.

Baekhyun had been thinking about what he said lately. It was an accident but he meant it. But why would he move back to Seoul when his life here is already fine? And besides, the merger could still be successful even if they're far from each other. They could work on that. He didn't need to go back to Seoul. The past happened in there and going back to the place means going back to the past. Going back to the pain. But what can he do? Pain was already in front of him and it was Chanyeol. He didn't want to admit that he was but it was inevitable. It would lead him to admitting the truth that Chanyeol pains him. He don't know what reason it was and he also didn't want to find out. He'll just have to decide when the time comes. But for now, he needs to sleep and it wasn't too long when he gained what he needed.

Chanyeol was just outside Baekhyun's room. He didn't know why but he felt going to his room. He noticed that the guy haven't uttered a word. He was worried which he shouldn't be. He was about to go in when pain striked again. He really shouldn't. Why would he let himself get involved? He knew the guy had been thinking about moving to Seoul. It was a bad idea. He wanted to be far from Baekhyun that's why he distanced himself away from him and that involves moving the main building to Seoul. He had heard a lot from Baekhyun as a businessman. He pretended that he didn't care about it but he actually did. He was envious how the guy had been so successful without him, and that pushed him to do the same thing. He knew that time that he already moved on but it was different when you'll see the guy personally. Instead of feelings coming back, it was pain. He should go away. He knew that's what Baekhyun needs. And he also needed that. Tomorrow, he'll end their made-up contract. It shouldn't happen in the first place. That was a mistake.

Chanyeol went back to his room and plopped himself in the bed, lulling himself almost immediately in a sleep.

...
