Warriors
America sat in a room full of costumes, makeup, and many other cosmetic things, gazing thoughtfully at the country staring back in the mirror. America's normal appearance that usual consisted of his beloved bomber jack, dress shirt, a tie, khakis, converse and a pair of wire framed glasses had been altered to something much more badass.
The now changed look had a black leather jacket with the name 'Sons Of Babylon' inscribed on the shoulder blades of the jacket, a grey T-shirt that said "God Dances With The Outcast", his dog tags that he had earned over the years serving in his own military, tight (but not quite skinny) black jeans, a pair of combat boots tied up to his knee cap, and a pair of sunglasses that cover his sky blue eyes. You may be wondering what prompted Alfred to change his look from his 'awesome hero' look, well allow me to explain.
You see, Tyler had told him that a friend of hers bands lead singer was sick with the flu and couldn't sing at a concert the band had just booked. So naturally being the hero and all Alfred offered to sub for the lead singer until he got better. It was his job as the hero to help his people with anything and everything. Tyler looked at him surprised for a second before she went and called her friend and his band telling them that she found them a solution to their problem.
When Tyler's friend and his crew had arrived they first looked at the American confused about who he was. Tyler had introduced them all to America and vise versa. The first guy Zach who was actually Tyler's friend had shoulder length black hair tucked into a ponytail, he had golden brown eyes that seemed to flicker between different emotions as he had examined the American head to toe. The man looked to be in his mid-twenties and said he was the piano player of the group.
The second guy was Sam, the boy looked a little younger than Zach, but was still older than the patriotic personification's physical age. He had cropped auburn hair that kinda reminded America of Italy's hair, he was also sporting electric blue eyes that would glance around nervously every now and then, he had pale skin that glowed in the artificial lighting of the recording studio, and he dressed like a typical teenager would. The kid said he was on the drums.
The last guy was named Keith, he looked to be in between Sam and Zach's ages making him about 21 to 22 years of age. He had ginger red hair that was put together in a buzz cut type fashion, he had forest green eyes that seemed to stare into your soul and make you want to tell him your deepest darkest secrets, his skin tone was the same as Alfred's the California sun-kissed. He dressed like a army recruit with black combat boots, camouflage pants, a grey muscle shirt that had some type of logo on it that at the time America couldn't quite place, and had a tattoo of an American Bald Eagle on his upper right arm. He stated proudly that he was the lead guitarist and dared the American to forget it.
After introductions had been finished Tyler explained that Alfred had volunteered to be a temporary sub until there lead singer (whose name Alfred learned was Rick) got better. Zach and Sam agreed almost immediately having no other option as they had a concert to do tonight and they couldn't find anyone else to fill the main role. Keith however, didn't seem to like the idea of a temporary new singer and said the if Alfred beats him in an arm wrestling match then he proved himself worthy of the lead role.
Instead of backing out like Keith thought he would, America agreed with a confident smile dawning his face. It was at that moment he knew he fucked up.
Needless to say Alfred destroyed the table while also being careful with the guitarist arm.
So it was settled that Alfred would fill the lead role until the real lead singer got into better health.
America was pulled out of his thoughts when he heard a knock on the dressing room door and walked over to the plastic door before opening it and peeking outside. There Sam stood, drum sticks in hand jumping up and down excitedly. "Alfred! Alfred! Come on it's almost time for the show to start!" The drummer said excitedly grabbing America's arm and pulling him out of the dressing room and into the long carpeted hallway.
America tried to keep up with the gleeful young man as he ran down to the hallway, dragging the personification with him. They finally came to a stop and a door that said MAIN STAGE and enter the door, seeing Keith and Zach there already to go and play some music.
"Ah so you get im' Sammy that's mighty fine" Keith stated and pulled his guitar from over his shoulder and to the front of his chest. "You ready to do this, noob is?" Keith teased a smirk dancing on his lips as he teased the newest temporary member of the band.
"Ready as I'll ever be, how 'bout you asshole?" America snapped back his smirk reflecting Keith's own as the two growled at each like pissed off dogs ready to rip each other's heads right of the shoulder. Zach suddenly got in between the two and pushed them both away from each other looking at the pair with a expression similar to a mom scolding her children.
"Will you two stop it all ready? We have a gig to play remember?!" Zach snarled emitting an aura equivalent to a certain Russian's own. Alfred and Keith got scared and held each other crying out, "Yes sir!" While clinging to each other as Sam recorded the whole thing on his phone for blackmail.
The evil aura around Zach disappeared like it was never there in the first place and he smiled widely dragging the two muscle heads on to the stage as Sam followed the trio snickering under his breath.
When they were all finally on the stage and in position the curtain rose and the crowd cheered loudly. Alfred grabbed the microphone and addressed the crowd.
"HELLO, NEW YORK CITY! ARE YOU READY TO ROCK?!" America shouted/questioned enticing cheers of "Hell yeah's" and "Totally" from the eager crowd below.
Alfred smirked and nodded towards the other band members who nodded back. Zach to play the keyboard and Alfred started singing.
"As a child, you would wait and watch from far away
But you always knew that you'd be the one
That work while they all play
In youth, you'd lay awake at night and scheme
Of all the things that you would change
But it was just a dream~"
Sam started playing the drums as the song flowed perfectly from the American's mouth, creating a perfect anthem for the crowd. Keith also started playing his guitar adding to the pure awesomeness of the song.
"Here we are, don't turn away now (Don't turn away)
We are the warriors that built this town (This town)
Here we are, don't turn away now (Don't turn away)
We are the warriors that built this town (This town)
From dust"
The group was amazed at how well Alfred pulled off the first part of the song and happily continued playing while the secret personification sag his heart.
"The time will come, when you'll have to rise
Above the best and prove yourself
Your spirit never dies
Farewell, I've gone to take my throne above
But don't weep for me, 'cause this will be the labor of my love"
As selfish as it was the song kinda reminded the young nation of himself in a way. He set out to prove himself to the world and its personifications when he was young and he's done so much since then.
"Here we are, don't turn away now (Don't turn away now)
We are the warriors that built this town (This town)
Here we are, don't turn away now (Don't turn away)
We are the Warriors that built this town (this town)
From dust"
Keith's cue final came and he did a solo on his guitar with Sammy still playing the drums. After the solo finished Alfred reached the end of the song.
"Here we are, don't turn away now (Don't turn away)
We are the warriors that built this town (This town)
Here we are, don't turn away now (Don't turn away)
We are the warriors that built this town (This town)
From dust"
With that the music stopped and the crowd cheered even louder than before, causing Sam to have to cover his ears in a desperate attempt to save his hearing.
"GOOD NIGHT, NEW YORK!"
The curtain fell and the band exited the stage tired from the performance and yet happy at the same time. They all exchanged goodbyes and promised to meet up again some time in the future.
Alfred got home to his apartment and walked sleepily towards the bedroom, shedding his clothes as he did. America changed into some red, white, and blue pjs before jumping into bed, snuggling under the covers. Alfred's hand felt around until he came upon something soft and grabbed it, hugging the item to his clothed chest.
It was his eagle plush, George, a gift from Canada when his nation turned 100 years old. With thoughts of superheroes and music clouding his mind, America drifted off to sleep, still hugging the bird plush.
