This is me

(Part two)

America ran as fast as his legs could carry him not stopping until he was sure he was at the hotel the nations were staying at.

He was panting by the time he entered the hotel. Some of the other nations who decided not to go out for karaoke looked at him with questioning and curious gazes. (Only the G8 and Prussia were at the karaoke bar)

America ignored them for once and just proceed to go up to his room.

He didn't even bother to take his clothes off and just passed out on the bed.

TIME SKIP BROUGHT TO YOU BY A LAZY AUTHOR

The next day America woke up nervous and embarrassed. How could he do something so stupid. Now they were gonna tell everyone and he would have to deal with more insults.

But first he needed a shower.

After the shower he changed back into his clothes because being the forgetful idiot he is he forgot to pack a change of clothes.

America looked at his watch and it appeared that he was late for the meeting. Shit.

America hurried out of his hotel room and down the hall to where the conference was being held. He took a deep breath and burst into the room.

"THE HERO HAS ARRIVED!" America proclaimed loudly his normal hero grin on his face. The others looked annoyed at his sudden entrance. America stole a glance towards the G8 and Prussia seeing if they remembered anything about last night. They acted and looked at him the same so he assumed they were too drunk last night to remember.

But little did he know that they remembered all the stuff that went down last night from his nervousness to his angel like voice. Why was he so ashamed of his voice? It was probably one of the most beautiful you could ever hear.

After America took his seat the usual chaos began and pretty soon all that could be heard for miles was yelling. America joined in trading insults with Russia while trying to get the former communist nation to get off his brother, who looked like he was about to suffocate.

When he finally managed to get Russia off Canada he was barely breathing. America patted his twins back trying to help him calm down his coughing.

Canada did eventually get enough air to be able to stand without America's help. Canada looked at his twin great full for his help.

"Thanks Al, you have a beautiful voice by the way" Canada said giving his brother a small smile. America froze at this. Did they remember last night? Oh no. If they remembered then they would tell the others and they would tell him how bad his voice was. He already knew it was terrible he didn't need to be reminded.

America slowly but surely left his brother's side and made his way towards the conference room door.

Noticing the American nation's retreat he shot him a confused look while asking,

"Al, where you going"

This caused all of the chaos to stop and stare at America about to leave the conference room.

'Of all the time for them to notice him' America thought as he gave the other nations a grin.

"And just vhere do jou think jour going?" Germany said raising an eyebrow towards the retreating nation.

"Uh, I-I just remember that I have somewhere to go sooooooooooo bye" America said quickly running out the door leaving behind confused and dumbfounded nations.

BACK TO AMERICA

America ran into the garden off the hotel and sat down on one of the stone benches. He felt like he just wanted to curl into a little ball and not worry about anything ever again.

But we all know too well that life isn't like that.

He tried to think of what would calm him down when he decided to sing a small tune he had thought of awhile back. Alfred cleared his throat and started to sing.

"I'm not a stranger to the dark

Hide away they say

'Cause we don't want your broken parts"

Alfred thought about how the other nations despised him despite the fact that he tried to make all of his mistakes right.

"I've learned to be ashamed of all my scars

Run away they say

No one'll love you as you are"

Lifting up his sleeve slightly Alfred looked at the scars that littered his sun-kissed skin. He sighed and pulled down his sleeve as he continued to sin.

"But I won't let them break me down to dust

I know there's a place for us

For we are glorious~"

The other countries were confused when America suddenly left the room in what seemed like a panic. Since they had nothing better to do all of the nations decided to look for The missing nation. They were just about to give up when they heard singing. Completely forgetting why they were not in the meeting they followed the voice and were shocked when they saw America sitting on one of the benches in the garden singing with his eyes closed.

"When the sharpest words wanna cut me down

I'm gonna send a flood, gonna drown them out

I am brave, I am bruised

I am who I'm meant to be

This is me~"

Alfred continued to sing unaware that he had an audience.

"Look out 'cause here I come

And I'm marching on to the beat I drum

I'm not scared to be seen

I make no apologies, this is me~"

No words could describe the beauty that the nations were seeing. The sun reflected on his already sun blond hair and his sun-kissed skin looked beautiful in the light. In short he look like an angel.

"Oh-oh-oh-oh

Oh-oh-oh-oh

Oh-oh-oh-oh

Oh-oh-oh-oh

Oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh, oh, oh~"

Alfred thought about how the others always criticized his weight, people, and looks among other things. Why did they hate him? What did he do?

"Another round of bullets hits my skin

Well, fire away 'cause today, I won't let the shame sink in

We are bursting through the barricades and

Reaching for the sun (we are warriors)

Yeah, that's what we've become (yeah, that's what we've become)

America thought he heard movement behind him but chocked it up to a bird or rabbit. Shrugging Alfred continued to sing without a care in the world.

"I won't let them break me down to dust

I know there's a place for us

For we are glorious~"

The other nations stayed in hiding thinking that if America saw them then he would stop singing.

"When the sharpest words wanna cut me down

I'm gonna send a flood, gonna drown them out

I am brave, I am bruised

I am who I'm meant to be

This is me~"

Alfred stood up and walked towards the small pond and sat down in the cold grass continuing to sing.

"Look out 'cause here I come

And I'm marching on to the beat I drum

I'm not scared to be seen

I make no apologies

This is me~"

Alfred mind started to wonder to his states and how they were doing. He loved all of them as brothers and sisters even if the civil war did happen.

"Oh-oh-oh-oh

Oh-oh-oh-oh

Oh-oh-oh-oh

Oh-oh-oh-oh

Oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh, oh, oh

This is me~"

Alfred noticed a bunny hopping over to him and smiled. He gently took the bunny into his hand and cuddled it to his chiseled chest. He loved animals.

"And I know that I deserve your love

Cause there's nothing I'm not worthy of ~"

He suddenly went silent and let a small tear slip past his sky blue eyes. He knew no one could ever love him.

"When the sharpest words wanna cut me down

I'm gonna send a flood, gonna drown them out

This is brave, this is proof

This is who I'm meant to be

This is me~"

Alfred saw a larger bunny hopping towards him and knew it was the little bunnies mother so he let it go. He smiled softly when they both flapped their ears at him as if saying goodbye. How cute.

"Look out 'cause here I come (look out 'cause here I come)

And I'm marching on to the beat I drum (marching on, marching, marching on)

I'm not scared to be seen

I make no apologies, this is me~"

Alfred looked at his reflection and saw nothing but a ugly, Arrogant, selfish pig that didn't deserve any love.

"When the sharpest words wanna cut me down

I'm gonna send a flood, gonna drown them out

I'm gonna send a flood

Gonna drown them out

Oh

This is me~"

And with that final note the song ended leaving America silently sobbing near the pond.

No one could take this anymore and the countries decided to confront the young nation. Mathew ran towards and hugged him feeling Alfred tense under his touch. America didn't say anything as he hugged his brother sobbing into his slightly smaller shoulder.

The other nations looked like they wanted to join the hug but looked a little nervous about the situation. This was so out of character for America.

Canada gestured for the others to join him and his brother in the hug.  Alfred immediately felt warmth surround him. He knew who it was and at this point he didn't care.

When the hug broke there was an awkward silence that hung in the arm. North Italy not reading the atmosphere broke the silence.

"Ve~! You have a pretty voice America" North Italy said making America blush at the complement. South Italy smacked North Italy on the while tell him to shut up. Spain smiled at the brothers.

Meanwhile America was getting hugs and complements on his singing.

He looked around at all the smiling face and smiled back.

Maybe, just maybe, they cared after all
