America sat on his captain America sheet covered bed and let the tears free fall from his beautiful sky blue eyes.
Alfred looked up and wiped the tears from his eyes. He looked around his room; at the posters; at the figurines.
Many people didn't know this, but Alfred and Stan Lee were good friends.
After Lee created his heroes and made him the person he was today. He was a hero in his own way. He helped a lot people and that's all the star spangled nation ever wanted in his immoral lifetime.
Deciding that being sad wasn't going to bring Stan back, Alfred walked over to his guitar and slung it over his shoulder and walked over to the window.
It was the afternoon, 2 o'clock to be specific and Alfred thought that music would be away to get his sadness to dwindle down.
Taking a deep breath, America tuned the guitar to the right cord and began to sing.
"I'm just the boy inside the man
No exactly who you think I am
Trying to trace my steps back here again so many times
I'm just a speck inside your hand
You came and made me who I am
I remember where it all began so clearly~"
America has the faintest memory of meeting Stan Lee at a park in the 1930s'. The young Lee at the time was trying to think of ideas for his comic book. America also remembers freaking out because of a spider. Alfred also made a joke; 'At least there isn't a spider man'.
"I feel a million miles away
Still you connect me in your way
And you create in me
Something I would've never seen
When I could only see the floor
You made my window a door
So when they say they don't believe
I hope they see you in me
After all the lights go down
I'm just the words you are the sound
A strange type of chemistry
How you've become a part of me
And when I sit alone at night
Your thoughts burn through me like a fire
You're the only one who knows who I really am~"
Alfred took a deep breath and wiped the tears that began to form in his eyes once again. He re positioned himself so that he could continue playing.
"We all wanna be somebody
We just need a taste of who we are
We all wanna be somebody
We're willing to go but not that far"
America grew up misunderstood and was often left alone when England went to explore the New World. So when he met Stan Lee in before WWII he adopted his hero personality and the need to save everyone around him. Brought his more than his fair share of hate, but hey screw them.
"And we're all see through, just like glass
And we can shatter just as fast
That light's been burned out for a while
I still see it every time I pass
It was lost in the corners of my mind
Behind a box of reasons why
I never doubted it was there
It just took a little time to find and even when..."
America clears his throat and begins to sing louder.
"...I feel a million miles away
Still you connect me in your way
And you create in me something
I would've never seen
When I could only see the floor
You made my window a door
So when they say they don't believe
I hope that they see you in me
After all the lights go down
I'm just the words you are the sound
A strange type of chemistry
How you've become a part of me
And when I sit alone at night
Your thoughts burn through me like a fire
You're the only one who knows who I really am~"
America knew Stan lee was going to be missed as much as Walt Disney. Probably even more.
"We all wanna be somebody
We just need a taste of who we are
We all wanna be somebody
We're willing to go, but not that far
We all wanna be somebody
We just need a taste of who we are
We all wanna be somebody
We're willing to go, but not that far~"
Then Alfred's voice started to go a little lower singling the outro of the song.
"I'm just the boy inside the man
Not exactly who you think I am
Trying to trace my steps back here again so many times
When I could only see the floor
You made my window a door
So when they say they don't believe
I hope they see you in me~"
With one final strum of his guitar America finished his song and set the guitar down. Alfred heard a laugh come from behind him and turned around only to see Stan lee himself.
The man didn't say anything he just raised his hand to salute the Sad nation and said,
"This is goodbye Alfred, Excelsior"
Alfred felt his eyes widen before he also raised his hand in a salute position and also said,
"Excelsior!"
