Wow.....

Okay, first of all I want to say this will have spoilers in it.

Second of all, I want to say please take none of what I say personally, this is just my opinion.

Season 8....I feel could have been better, I'm not going to lie I'm not a big fan of season 8.

The one main thing I want to say is that, I think they did lance dirty.

Now you know I like lance, this is a book dedicated to him, but honestly I think they did lance dirty in this season.

He got something worse then no character development, he wasn't even a character.

The only thing lance was used for this season was

1.allurance

2.proving he has character development

3. Fan service.

As you all know i am not the biggest fan of allurance, but just because it became cannon, doesn't mean I'm going to resent the show for it, I honestly think allurance would be a super cute relationship....if executed properly, like I had my doubts in the past, but I saw a few senes in this new season and I thought they were adorable, and I'm always happy when someone loves lance, he needs to be appreciated.

Allurance has the potential to be a really great relationship....if executed properly. The show writers just tried to start a relationship at the end point, they tried to start a relationship that was only in its beginning phases at the end point of a relationship.

Before lotor or anything, when lance was showing clear interest in allura she still turned her nose down at him in disgust, then later when she does have the choice of lance or lotor she still chooses lotor. And I'm not saying she cant grow to like lance that way because she totally can, but that would take Time.

Honestly, I can see lance already being in love with allura, and willing to do many things for her, the problem is that allura reciprocated those feelings with the same amount of force as lance and that just doesn't make sense....lance has been pinning and loving allura since season 1 allura has started to grow attached to lance in season 7, their compassion for each other is not the same, so allura to act as if it was totally does not make sense.

Besides this the most of the other sence that we see lance for is because of allura, his interaction with Alfor isn't about being a good paladin, or right hand man...it's about how much he loves allura.

The fun episode for gimmicks at the carnival, also just for allura.

The sene in the video camera episode is for allura as well, both sense actually.

And the writers tried to pack in as much allurance time as they could before the end.

Now there's that list, but here is the worst part about allurance.

It controls lances ending, every other paladin had an ending made just for them, and things they would probably do.

Lances ending, is about allura and fan service.

Lance spent most of his time being rejected by allura, if not her turning down his attempts to flirt, then her blatantly choosing lotor over him. Yet after a few months of them
Being together, and 'in love'  he decides he will spend the rest of his life pinning over her and telling her story....

I'm sorry what?

Are you kidding me?!

This is an ending for ALLURA, not for lance...this just pisses me off so much....

Okay next

2.

They didn't have enough to do a full circle of lances character development, so they had to make it more obvious to us the viewer, so they give us two senes where lance talks about being different.

The first time is with Keith on the red lion, Keith tells lance that he was glad to be flying with lance, the red paladin who was assured of his place on the team.

Thanks for pointing it out to us voltron crew, if you hadnt we wouldn't have assumed he got over his self hatred thing, there is literally nothing pointing to this revelation other then lances book and some people haven't read it. So they decide to do it quickly, to have one character state it and BAM it's true.

Next we have Keith and lance in the room again, literally, no reason for them to linger back, the only reason they add this is to point out lances development.

Lance says stuff about how he used to think he was the best flyer, this making it seem like he now has learned he isn't.

Well here's the thing, if you have to point out character development to us, does it really count as character development, we are meant to watch it happen, not have it whispered into our ears so that you can appease us.

3. And finally, fan service....

Look I love fan service, I will take it at anytime, I will take it anywhere, I will take it and love it soooo much.

But here....it's to much on top of everything.

Lance getting altean marks, yep I love that big ass plot hole you just left.

Apparently when an altean dies and kisses you, you can get altean marks...yep, this is logical....

This was probably mainly for the fans.

I have a problem with what they did to lance, out of all of these things we don't actually see lance be lance, The only reason he is ever added in is for allurance, to prove his development, and fan service.

Lance is a great character who has been ignored in the past and who could have actually had a really good ending character ark, and a really nice relationship with allura.

Heck we could have seen allura slowly take Keith's place in lances life, as the one he goes to, we could see allura slowly step in listen to his problems and because she has more emotional range try to help him. This would make them grow closer and would probably show a nice ark ending for lance.

But instead we got speedy fixes, that in the end don't really seem worth the effort.

I have some other problems with this season, but this is my rant so enjoy.

Don't worry, I still love the show, and I don't think there were some good moments of the season, I will still update.

And again, please please please don't take this personally or anything, this is just my opinion.
