Episode 21: What Matters

POV: Dream

My jeans were on match against the slippery draw bridge. As soon as Sean threw me over the the  door, I realized that I would never see Sean again. Tears welled up in my eyes. I was viciously yanked on to my feet by my under arms. They pulled me to the side as someone else slid down the bridge. I pulled against them, and ran to see who it was. Sean slid down the bridge. His eyes were purple, and cheeks were puffy. I ran, and picked him up, and hugged him. His long arms wrapped around my waist, and hugged back harder.

"Where's Ben?" I asked. He looked at me, trying to keep in control of his emotions, but he couldn't manage anymore. He clenched his eyes tightly together, and sobbed. His head lobbed over on my shoulder. I wrapped my arms around him again. He's falling apart.

"Come on, sob shows. Beurnson has something to show you," My hair was yanked back, and Sean by his back pack straps. We were pulled apart, and dragged down a long hallway. We weren't separated, but we had to walk in between the two dragging us along. I never even got to say goodbye to Ben.

I took a quick glance at Sean. His eyes were dry, and skin was normal color again. It's like nothing ever happened.

The halls were lined with artistic graffiti, mostly of murals. They were beautiful, but its purely a facade.

"In here," The woman said, and pushed both of us in the room. I stumbled over my legs, while Sean was perfectly balanced. The dimly lit room was cascaded in murals of people kissing Beurnson's feet, and portraying him as a God, who hands out gracious gifts.

"Well, is it good to see you again, Doctor!" Beurnson's eyes were melting through Sean's steel composure.

"We had a deal,"

Beurnson's laugh echoed through out the building, naming it again for his own.

"The deal, was to pass along your little friends. I needed to make sure that they were going to be of use. See, this one knows how to run things. Exploit the help of others for your own personal gain. Sad to see the other one go. He had so much to give. And for what?" Beurnson's anger was in the form of spitting fire. This guy has some serious shit with Sean.

"Well, that's none the matter now. The matter being, your truth telling, Dr. Mcloughlin." He said, sitting down in a tattered, black computer chair, crossing his left leg over the knee of his right.

"I haven't lied to you since the day we met," Sean spat, eye brows furrowing.

"Oh, okay then. Oh wait, you mentioned that, you didn't know these people, correct?" He asked, his elbows leaning on his knee.

Sean breathed out his nose.

"Yes. That is what I said."

"But, correct me if I'm wrong Doctor, but, I saw you two hugging. And, you signing "I love you," to that boy out there, correct?" His condescending attitude made me want to slit his throat, then mine.

"Yup,"

"So, your previous statement, it clearly false!" He jumped up from his chair, and got right into Sean's face. He didn't step back, and keep staring him right in the eyes.

"Yes."

"I see. Doctor, come with me please," Beurnson said, tapping his chin like he was in a video game. Sean stared at him, not moving an inch. Beurnson walked back, pinching the bridge of his nose. He looked to me, with sardonic kindness in his eyes.

"Darling, would you leave Dr. Mcloughlin and I alone for a moment?" I honestly had no idea of what to do. I looked to Sean for direction. He slightly nodded, while then I did the same.

"Kat-lynne, would you show our new member, her quarters?" Beurnson talked like he really had to ponder over everything he had to say.

"Uh, yeah. Sure. Come with me," The ebony haired goddess behind me, looked like she had literally just walked out of runway. Her pulled back hair was slick, and shining against the dim room.

I walked out the door, and followed to where she was leading me, a little behind her.

"How long have you been here?" I asked her. If I'm going to find my sister, I need to find out everything I can about things here.

"Uh, I don't really know. I've been here as long as I can remember." She seemed reluctant to talk.

"What, um, what is it going to be like?" I asked, trying to keep up with her steadying pace as we turned a corner.

"I guess you'll have to find out. I don't really know you, I don't feel comfortable sharing this information." I was shocked.

"All I asked you was what is it like here, I didn't think that was too personal of a question," I said. She stopped, and sighed.

"No, you're right. I'm sorry, shit has just been so tense around here lately. I feel like if I make one wrong move, there goes my head. Um, well that gives you a pretty good look as to what it is. It's usually not this stressful. When new people come, it gets worse though. You're life here is going to be a living hell for the next couple of days, but I mean, it will all be worth it." She said, sticking a piece of stray hair out from her ponytail.

She turned her head, as we stopped by a barred room.

"Someone just called for me. Kids centerum. I gotta go. Here's your room. I'll come get you when I'm done. Just, stay put, and don't make any noise."
