I've got this quote stuck in my head from the Pride and Prejudice movie with Keira Knightly and Matthew MacFadyen.

After Mr. Darcy insults Lizzie, and she and Charlotte overhear his words, Charlotte looks at Lizzie and tells her, "Count your blessings. If he liked you, you'd have to talk to him."

I like to remember this on the occasion that I hear something particularly nasty about myself. If they liked me, I would have to talk to them. I would have to deal with them and their negativity.
