Possibly one of the worst moments of Supernatural for me was back in season one when Sam was still only 22

And he was still having nightmares of Jessica's death and this guilt was weighing on him because he thought he could have prevented it

So he's trying not to sleep, trying to solve as many cases as possible, trying to save everyone he sees

So much coffee, so much research

And when he finally crashes, he inevitably has another horrific nightmare

And he wakes up, fatigued and upset

And he stares at the ceiling that isn't being licked away by flames

And he whispers to Dean,

"Why did you let me fall asleep?"
