VI
Alexander was pulled out of the world of sleep by something poking his face. He swatted it away, snuggling further into his pillow. It touched him again, and he growled, turning over. What finally got him to open his eyes was the whine from his boyfriend.
"Aleeexxx~!"
Alex turned back over to face him with a deadly glare. "What the fuck do you want, John?"
John gave him an innocent smile and climbed on top of him, looking a little disappointed when Alex's harsh look didn't falter. He let out a small sigh. "Do you have to be so grumpy?"
"Did you have to wake me up?" Alex shot back, "What time is it anyways?"
"Around three in the morning." John replied, and Alex narrowed his eyes, visibly unnerving the vampire. "I can't sleep. I'm fully awake."
"And who's problem is that?" Alexander growled. "Go take a walk or something."
"C'mon Alex..." John brushed a strand of hair out of Alex's face, leaning down until Alex turned away. "Really?"
"You woke me up by poking me in the face at three am. Yes, really." Alexander retorted sarcastically. "I know what you want, and you're not getting it."
John sighed and rolled over so that he was laying next to Alexander. "You're so harsh."
"And you're being annoying, you horny bastard. Go take a walk." Alex chucked a pillow at him.
John narrowed his eyes. "Excuse me, you're the bastard here." He threw the pillow back, before sitting up and letting out another sigh. "Fine, I'll take a walk. Go back to sleep."
Alexander watched as John got up, walking out of the room. He soon heard the front door open and close, and heaved a small sigh. He knew he had to be harsh with John if he was going to stop, because he had been woken up at ridiculous times almost every night for the past week. Alex knew that vampires were naturally nocturnal, but this was ridiculous. On the occasions Alexander actually slept, he liked his sleep.
It had been a few minutes, and Alex had been just about to drift off to sleep again when there was a knock on the front door. He groaned, but sat up anyways. He quickly got out of bed as the knocking continued, and went to the front door, pulling it open with full intentions to tell off whoever thought this was an appropriate hour to disturb him.
He didn't expect it to be such a gorgeous woman.
The woman smiled up at him, nervously pushing some of her dark curls to the side. "Mr. Hamilton, right? I've been looking for you."
Alexander was quiet for a moment, eyes scanning her features. She seemed extremely familiar, he was sure that he knew her, but from where? The realization hit him like a bullet.
"You're the vampire from that old house..." Alex breathed out, taking a step back. "How did you find me?"
"Your scent is unforgettable." The woman replied, stepping towards him. She walked through the doorway, giggling a bit when Alex's eyes widened. "Your roommate invited me in earlier. I'm Maria Reynolds."
"Giving a known hunter your name isn't a very smart move, Ms. Reynolds." Alexander narrowed his eyes at her.
Maria gave a small nod, but kept approaching him until he was backed up against the wall. "I wanted to thank you. I... I trust you with my name, because you spared me. You had no reason to keep me alive."
"I was feeling generous." Alexander tried very hard to keep his urge to flirt away, but it was in his blood. "Besides, how could I rid the world of such a beauty~?" Goddammit Alex, you whore.
Maria's cheeks turned red and she came closer still, placing her hands on Alexander's chest. She smiled up at him, tilting her head to the side. "You're quite the charmer, aren't you, sir?" She giggled, one of her hands sliding up to cup his cheek. "Let me pay you back, Mr. Hamilton. It's the least I can do~."
Alexander felt his cheeks grow warm at her touch, and her words laced with seduction left a shudder down his spine. Maria was leaning closer, and Alex almost couldn't wait to close the gap. I can't.
"No." Alexander turned his head away. He placed his hands on her shoulders, gently pushing her back. "There's no need for that. Just not telling the other vampires in your little gang where I live would be payback enough."
"Are you... are you sure?" Maria tilted her head slightly, appearing confused at his rejection. "I don't mind-"
"No." Alexander cut her off. "I'm in a relationship, one I'm actually trying not to fuck up. You're a gorgeous woman and seem like a good person, but I won't be doing anything sexual with you."
Maria nodded slightly, glancing to the side as she took a step back. "I see... you're with someone. I'm sorry, I should've asked first. Whoever it is is lucky to have someone loyal like you." She offered him a small smile before turning away, heading for the door before glancing back at Alex once more. "I won't tell anyone where you live. Thank you again, Alexander."
Alex watched her leave before stepping towards the door and pushing it closed. He let out a sigh of relief before a smile grew on his face. I said no!
He was more proud of himself than one normally would be, but having ruined his past relationship with Eliza by cheating, being able to reject an offer like that was a step for him.
You really are the only one I want, John.
