You couldn't sleep at all last night. Your thoughts had you awake and turning most of the night, especially when you heard your mother leave in the middle of the night. Who knows where she went? Maybe to meet up with Jungkook's father, who are you to stop her.
You cuddled Mr Fluffball close to your chest seeking a bit of comfort. Jungkook gave the little brown teddy bear to you a few years ago when he thought that the bear liked me more than him. You smiled as you reminisced the memories you two shared together, from the very first meeting.
He was very brave, and very outspoken as well even when he was just a little kid. It's honestly thanks to him that you've become a happier person because never had he once failed to make you smile.
You snapped out of your trance when you heard a faint knock on your bedroom door.
"Honey, come down. I made you breakfast." She spoke gently before backing away from the door. Your head hung low when you heard her footsteps slowly fade away.
"How am I supposed to face her now? After all the things I said to her yesterday.." You mumbled.
~~~
You and your mom sat on the dining table in silence. She stared at you from time to time but couldn't figure out the right words to say. You on the other hand dragged the food back and forth with the tip of your fork. You felt her gaze on you from time to time, and suddenly you felt small.
You placed the cream covered pastry in your mouth. "Are you enjoying your meal? I made the cream extra sweet this time." She smiled as she cut off a piece of pancake with her fork before eating it. You put down your fork before looking up to meet her gaze.
"Mom, I-"
"Hurry up and finish your food before it gets cold, okay sweetie." She continued munching on her meal, like nothing happened a few hours ago. It didn't sit right with you. Something needed to be said, something needed to be said now.
"I'm sorry for what happened last night. It wasn't very like me at all. I guess I let my emotions spiral out of control." She sighed before putting down her cutlery as well.
"But I kinda deserved it." Your mom's smile fell just for a split second before she continued. "I knew about your feelings for Jungkook, but I still fell for him. I shouldn't have gotten too close." She chuckled bitterly as she focused her gaze on the steam rising up from her cup of tea. You frowned.
"What happened? Why do you look so sad?" She finally looked up at you once again before shaking her head trying to convince you otherwise.
"It's nothing." The chair scraped backwards against re floor as your mother stood up from her seat. "I just broke up with him last night is all. I had to do it...for my daughter." She gathered up her dirty dishes, headed over to the sink and placed them inside. "I'll go and take a shower now. Clean up when you're done."
Your eyes followed her tired looking figure until she disappeared down the the hallway leaving you all alone in the kitchen.
"What have I done?"
Jungkook slipped on a pair of his white trainers planning to go on a morning. Something he never did, but, he just needed to get away from the house, even only for a short time. Yoongi had been trying to talk to him ever since the got back him last night, but he simply ignored the knocks on his door.
Jungkook opened his bedroom door expecting to see his brother waiting for him just outside, but sighed in relief when he wasn't. He didn't need a confrontation so early in the morning.
He didn't want to think of that today.
His father sat patiently on the kitchen table for his sons to come down to eat breakfast together, like they always did. He jolted up when he heard fast paced footsteps approaching.
Jungkook walked into the kitchen with his hands tucked away into his adidas track pants pockets. Jaesun stood up nervously as his son stopped on the other side of the kitchen counter.
"Jungkook. Why don't you sit down for some breakfast before you-" Jungkook took an apple from the fruit bowl before turning to his father. His gaze was cold and he was acting quite distant.
"I'm not hungry." Jungkook said plainly before heading to the door. Jaesun hung his head low trying to cover up the hurt he was feeling.
A few seconds later Yoongi emerged from down the hallway with his school backpack clad on his back. Jaesun quickly replaced his frown with a smile upon approaching him.
"Ah! Yoongi! Why don't you-" Yoongi grabbed an apple from the fruit bowl as well.
"I'm going to the library. I need to study for the coming exams." Yoongi spoke before walking out the door following his little brother.
"That's okay. Study hard!" Jaesun shouted after him but he wouldn't be able to hear him anyways. He had already left. The man slowly turned around to look at the fully prepped table filled with all kinds of food. He sighed lowly before packing it all up into containers and placing them in the refrigerator.
~~~
Jungkook walked down the front stairs heading to the street. The first few steps down he spent contemplating whether or not to eat the apple he grabbed a minute ago. He shook his head at his nonsensical thoughts and took a bite out of the sweet fruit.
"Jungkook!" Yoongi called out from behind him, but he simply ignored his older brother and kept his pace down the street.
"Sooner or later you're going to have to talk to me you punk!" Jungkook laughed sarcastically at his brother's attempts. Whatever he wanted to say he could keep it to himself. He didn't need the usual sympathy that he always got when something went wrong on his life. This time he needed a solution. A solution to stop- whatever game he felt he was walking through.
He had to jinx himself, didn't he? Since the very first day he had a hunch, a feeling that the two of you being together was too good to be true. Why couldn't he just....It's pointless to think like this right now because it's already too late. What's done is done. That's how the universe wanted things to play out.
If only the universe was a person, Jungkook wouldn't waste time throwing a few blows right before he begged it to change everything back to the way it was. Before he-
Jungkook ruffled his hair in frustration. He felt like he was going crazy just thinking things through, he wanted to see you, talk to you, check on how you were doing but you both needed some time alone just for a little while. Yeah. Yeah!
He threw the apple core in to the bin before reaching into his pockets and pulled out an mp3. He connected his headphone to the port and played his favourite songs. This gave him a lot of motivation to run like his very existence depended on it.

You sat around a small round table in a small, cozy cafe, with Jungkook's father seated across from you. He looked a bit uneasy at first but loosened up when the waiter placed the food in front of each of you.
He glanced at his coffee for a quick second before giving a quick stir.
"Thank you for agreeing to meet me Y/N. I didn't think you'd want to after things last night ended on a bad note." He sighed before covering it up with a smile.
"It's not a problem at all Mr Jeon. It gave me the perfect excuse to get out of the house for a while." You smiled trying to ease the tension. You grabbed the plastic cup, and placed the straw in between your lips taking a few sips of the milk tea.
"Are you enjoying the tea?" He asked causing you to look up at him excitedly.
"Yes! It's really good but..." You paused for a while taking the time to admire the well decorated interior of the building. It looked like this place had been here for a good few years at most. You continued. "I've lived in Busan for my whole life but how come I've never come across this cafe before?"
He smiled as he looked around the cafe once more recalling all the memories this place held for him.
"We learn something new everyday. That's the beauty of this world. You've always loved tea since you were little and always threw little when you didn't get to drink it." You chuckled at your younger self. Did you really do that?
He sat quiet for a bit still admiring the place. "This was the place where your mother and I went on our first date. Well it wasn't really a date, I just thought it was the perfect place to enjoy our breakfast."
You frowned at that. Just like that the guilt rushed through you.
"You guys were so happy together, weren't you?" You mumbled inaudibly as you set your cup back down on to the table. "I heard from my mom that you two ended things. I'm so sorry." He laughed lowly, almost as if sarcastically.
"Mr Jeon? Why did you want to meet me?" You finally asked the question you wanted to ask from the beginning.
"It's about Jungkook." His gaze suddenly became strong when he brought up his son. You hummed in confusion when he brought up your boyfriend's name.
"Jungkook? Is he okay?" You asked worriedly. He laughed at your behaviour and reassured you that he was indeed not in any harm.
"I know I shouldn't ask you to do this for me, but he won't even talk to me let alone look at me." A lone tear escaped from his eye followed by even more. "Y/N, you're the only one I know he'll listen to right now."
"Mr Jeon, I can't-" You stopped when he grabbed hold of your hand. He was feeling desperate right about now and it showed in his eyes.
"Please...I already lost your mother. I can't lose my sons too."

Jungkook had been running non stop for the past couple of hours or two, and needless to say he was exhausted. His body had reached it's limit and he knew he had to rest up for a little bit before heading back home.
He slowly walked over to one of the larger trees in the park and took a seat under it, appreciating the cool breeze that blew through it's shade.
Jungkook was exhausted but was grateful that he was able to distract himself for a few hours. His eyes slowly closed but opened them immediately after. He slapped his cheeks a bit hard to try and keep himself awake but after a while the slaps softened and he'd managed to drift off to sleep.
~~~
A little girl walked through the park at the fact that she had been let out of the house, with her brother's supervision of course. She had managed to slip away when they met some of his friends along the way. They were so immersed with each other that they hadn't noticed her figure wandering further and further away.
The little girl wore a soft pink jumpsuit with a white t-shirt tucked away inside it paired with her plain white sneakers. Her hair was tied into uneven ponytails on either side of her head leaving one lower than the other, courtesy of her brother.
In one hand she held on to the purple leather leash, her puppy prodding beside her. She was happy. Happy that she could walk around on her own without her big brother barking up orders at her. He was doing it for her own safety but she was too young to understand.
"Come on! We have to get to that ice cream truck before it leaves!" Her eyes lit up as she overhead some kids shouting from the distance behind her. If she wasn't craving the sweet treat earlier she was now.
She turned around to ask where the truck was but fell to the ground when they bumped against her shoulders. They continued running of course, not caring whether she was hurt or not.
Her eyes wandered over to the kids that ran behind her and noticed the truck with pictures of iced lollipops and other sweet treats printed on the outside of the vehicle. She smiled wanting to run over and buy herself one with the change she had in her pocket but her puppy was too small to run that fast.
She stood there for a while thinking about what to do when her eyes landed on a figure propped up against the side of the tree. Before she knew it her little feet brought her to the boy sleeping put in the open.
"Mister? Hello? Are you still alive?" The little girl waved her hand frantically in front of his face. Jungkook's eyes fluttered open, the first thing in his field of vision being the little girl.
"Oh good! Do you mind looking after my puppy for me?" Jungkook had barely enough time to react when she grabbed his hand and placed the leash on it. He furrowed his eyebrows in confusion. Who was this girl? Why did he feel like he'd seen her somewhere before?
"I want to catch up to that ice cream truck before he closes up. Make sure to hold on to her leash really well. She gets really excited sometimes!"
"Thank you mister!" She shouted excitedly as she ran off towards the truck.
"Ummm..sure?" He ran a hand through his hair before slightly tugging on the leash to guide the dog towards him but.. "Wait...Why does this leash feel really light..like nothing is being held.." Jungkook ruffled his hair in frustration. Did she really just give him a leash with no dog on the other hand or did the dog escape somehow?
"I must be going crazy. Yeah, yeah. That's the only explanation. That girl might not even be real and I just happen to have a purple leash in my hand." He said to himself before getting up from the ground starting to look around for any fuzzy haired animal wandering around.
It couldn't have escaped, could it? If it did he would have heard it. He'd just woken up, so of course his senses were acting up.
Soon enough the little girl came running back with two iced treats in both her tiny hands.
"Hey mister! Thank you for looking after her for me." She smiled brightly causing Jungkook to smile as well. She wasn't so bad now, was she? But something about her seemed so familiar almost as if-
He snapped out of his thoughts when he saw her little outstretched hand offering him an unwrapped treat. Jungkook hummed in confusion.
"I had some extra money left over after buying mine so i decided to get one for you too." He smiled as he looked at her only to find her eating her ice cream messily, her arm still outstretched, patiently waiting for him to take it.
"Really? Thank you. I'll enjoy this a lot-" He said happily as he reached out to grab it, until she dropped it on to the grass beneath her along with her own. Her face fell as her eyes scanned the area looking for her dog when she noticed the end of the leash was limp.
"Wait..where is she? Did she get loose again?" Tears welled in her eyes before they fell down her chubby cheeks. Jungkook rubbed the back of his neck nervously when he couldn't figure out the right words to say in that moment.
"But you gave me the leash with no-" He attempted to pat her back but she jolted up when her eyes turned to the entrance of the park. She quickly wiped her tears before running off in that direction. Jungkook frowned when she shouted back.
"There she is! Running to the outside of the park!" Her small feet carried her across the small park making an attempt to catch up with the escaped puppy.
Jungkook's eyes widened when he saw that she wasn't going to stop running anytime soon. She was going run straight out of the park onto oncoming traffic. Soon enough he felt himself running fast in her direction.
The exhaustion from before was still present but...what could he do at that moment other than stop something terrible from happening. Sore muscles were only a small price to pay for the safety of that little....Even though he didn't know her that well.
But why did he feel as if the little girl meant something more to him than he thought. He internally groaned at the all too familiar feeling he tried so hard to forget.
This feeling is what got him in to this mess in the first place. It would just be better if he ignored it from now on, but it wasn't that easy.
The little girl giggled loudly as she shouted out to the dog as she stepped through the park's entrance on to the sidewalk. The pedestrians exclaimed loudly when the girl sped past them, some even tried reaching out to grab her but she was too fast.
The air around him felt suffocating. He didn't feel like he was breathing at all, he was too fear stricken when he saw one of her feet take a tiny step on to the tarred road. Cars were honking loudly not daring to slow down even just a little, even the driver of the truck approaching at a fast pace. People held onto their kids tightly while shielding their eyes from the horrible sight that would soon happen.
As if on cue, Jungkook quickly grabbed hold of her hand and pulled her back into his embrace. His arms tightened around her when he felt her shivering in his hold.
Her arms were tightly wrapped around his neck and she was sobbing on his shoulder. She tried apologising multiple times through her tears but Jungkook shushed her while rubbing circles on her back.
"It's okay." He whispered against her hair. "You're okay now..i promise." She softly nodded burying her head even more into his shoulder.
