Distractions

She just had to hold on.

Dear god this was pathetic. They'd been reduced to a mess of sweat and leather and dwindling fire all because they couldn't fucking focus. And that was his fault. It was! If he hadn't decided to pin her against a wall and kiss her till she thought she was drunk just half an hour ago then they'd have defeated this akuma within five minutes. Marinette was losing her patience.

He was looking at her like that again. Lustful and sinful and god she just wanted to hold him against her but she couldn't because akuma goddammit that has priority, not kissing your partner till his legs are weak...

"Lucky Charm!" she yelled at the top of her voice and was gifted with a bouncy ball. She hurled it at Chat who smashed it into the face of the akuma victim. As he was temporarily stunned, Marinette grabbed at the blackened pendant round his neck, crushing it between her fingers. She cleansed the butterfly with ease, setting it free. She turned and Chat was there again, watching her with a grin. He grabbed her by the hand and they swung away together before any civilians or reporters could get to them.

They landed atop a secluded balcony far away from anyone; the house they'd chosen seemed pretty much deserted judging by the shutters swinging in the musty air.

He was looking at her again. With that look. She snapped.

"You utter twat."

He seemed genuinely surprised with that outburst.

"What?"

"You know damn well what!" Ladybug was pissed now. We could easily have beaten that akuma! Easily! God, it was the easiest villain Hawkmoth's created for months, I mean, Joker Boy? And if it hadn't have been for you coming up to me like that when we were supposed to be on patrol and -"

"Kissing you?"

"Yes!" She stomped her foot irritably and glared at him. "If you hadn't done that then maybe we'd have solved this all a lot faster and no one would have got as badly hurt but no you just had to come along and kiss me until I felt like I couldn't breathe and goddammit - Chat fucking Noir I swear to Jesus if you ever  pull a stunt like that again I will kill you, Paris and Hawkmoth be damned."

"Does that mean I distracted you?" Chat's grin was white and shining, wide and broad. Ladybug blushed deep scarlet. "I did didn't I?"

"How else was I supposed to react?" she huffed stubbornly. "You and your - ach damnit! I can't think, I can't do anything without you being there and saying something and you're just -"

In one swift movement she was pressed against him as Chat placed a hand on the small of her back and pulled her to his chest. His smile was even more noticeable now; she didn't dare look in his eyes. They were glowing bright green and they were half closed; his arms were drawing her even tighter against him now and she could feel herself blushing harder and it wasn't hard for him to notice; she heard his chuckle.

"I'm sorry," he whispered, his voice low. Husky. Hot, she caught herself thinking before she stopped herself immediately, scolding herself. "How can I make it up to you?" His lips loomed closer and his eyes fluttered a little further closed. Ladybug had had enough.

"Kiss me."

"As you wish, my lady," he whispered with a grin and she flung her arms around his neck as he pressed his lips upon hers tenderly, his hands firmly upon her waist. She groaned into his mouth with satisfaction and she ran her fingers through his feathery hair, not caring about Adrien, because she could not deny she was attracted to Chat, almost like it was animal instinct. Ironic, she thought to herself as he hoisted her into his arms, pressing her back up against the balcony wall and kissing her for all he was worth. At that moment, she realised, he really meant it when he said -

"I love you, Ladybug," he whispered. "I truly do."

She took a moment to catch her breath and she looked up at him, almost pleadingly. His eyes were wide and hopeful but deep down, she knew, he expected rejection. She could almost see the tear beginning to form there already.

"I don't care if you don't love me back," he murmured, running his hand up her arm fleetingly to grasp her hand gently, "it's just that the flirting became this and I just, well, I suppose I hoped -"

"I don't know Chat," she said, softly. "I know I like you. I like you a lot more than I should, and I'm scared of that. Because I like someone else. I'm afraid of loving two people at once and I don't want to put either of you two through that guilt. It's so difficult, I can't get my head round it but I truly care about you Chat."

A small silence passed as he set her back on her feet gently.

"Are you saying I may have a chance?"

Ladybug smiled gently.

"Unless your alter-ego is Adrien Agreste then I'm not sure, kitty cat."
