Chapter 87: Big Mistake
"Are you going to show me where you've been hiding?" I asked Ichiru as we slipped back into the academy. "I won't tell anyone."
"It's a secret," Ichiru placed a finger over his lips. "And if you knew, you might be in danger."
"I don't care," I lied. The chill of being in danger again, clenched my stomach, worsening at the thought that I might put Ichiru in danger as well.
"Of course not," Ichiru planted a kiss on my forehead. "You should go back to the dorm now anyway."
"Good night." I decided to let his secret hideout remain a secret. "Be careful, okay?"
"I will." The figure of Ichiru faded into the night, his silvery hair eventually swallowed into the darkness.
As I watched him disappear, the realisation struck me then, how much I would miss him if he disappeared. If he did fight Rido - he would be killed. I just can't let that happen.
There was a figure standing on the roof of the Moon Dorm. That's where he is.
I slipped into the Moon Dorm, a plan forming in my head. Senri's battle with Kaname over, no doubt, seeing as Senri's standing up on the roof. I'm pretty sure both sides are unharmed. Two purebloods pitted against each other. Monsters fighting.
The door to my room clicked shut behind me. It was empty, moonlight shining through the open window as the curtains bucked in a sudden gust of wind. It was getting windy.
Walking over, I pulled the windows shut, but let the curtains stay open, just so the moonlight would keep shining through. It was a comforting sight, seeing the white light.
A sight I might not see again.
Stifling a sigh, I sat on the edge of my bed. Reaching underneath, I pulled out a long wooden box. Placing it on the bed beside me, I reached under again and pulled out a second.
The wooden surfaces of the box glistened slightly in the moonlight. They were my weapon. My defense. I couldn't go back now.
Unclasping one box, I drew out a quiver of arrows placing it on the bed on my other side. Ten arrows. They had better be enough.
Out of the second box, I drew out my silver bow. It shone dully, almost as though it was aware of what was going to happen.
"Sorry, Ichiru," I whispered into the air. He wouldn't hear me, but it was just a thought.
Standing up, I slung the quiver over my shoulder, the bow in my hand. There was one way to get to the top of the roof, through the fire exit.
Shoving open the heavy door, I made my way up a flight of stairs. With each step, the realisation of my possible doom grew, engulfing me until I felt ready to quit. I can't chicken out though. He was expecting me, I knew.
At the top of the stairs, I pushed open a second door, the wind blowing through slightly, and sending strands of hair in my face.
"I was expecting you," Senri's voice drifted over the roof. He stood with his back to me, on the other side of the roof. "Always so stubborn."
"Is there something wrong with that?" I challenged the vampire. "I'm still going to destroy you." My knuckles clenched as my grip tightened on my bow.
"How scary," Senri turned around to face me at last. "A challenge must be answered." With exaggerated boredness, he raised a finger to his lips. A pale fang pierced the skin on the tip of his finger, drawing out a bead of blood. As I watched with horrified fascination, the blood slowly dripped out in a length, extending to become a whip of blood.
"Scared are we?" Senri taunted, his red-brown eye overflowing with glee. With a twist of his wrist, the whip sliced through the air at me.
Immediately I jumped back, trying to avoid the blood-red whip. Bringing up my bow, I let an arrow loose, hearing it whistle through the air.
With ease, Senri let his whip knock the arrow off course, sending it tumbling over the edge of the roof.
"It wasn't going to hit anyway," Senri remarked as both of us watched silver-tipped arrow disappear. "The wind blew it off course."
"I don't care," I retorted hotly. "I'll finish you off anyway."
I pulled out another arrow, the mother metal on the tip of it glistening. Instead of firing it, I held it in my hand like a dagger.
"I won't let you hurt anyone I care about," I snarled out as I ran towards Senri, the arrow poised to slash at the mahogany-haired vampire.
"That's a bit brash," Senri remarked. With a casual swipe, he sent the blood whip snapping towards me. Instinctively I struck out at it with my bow, the silver metal flashing.
My heart sank though, as soon as I saw the whip coil itself around the bow, yanking it out of my hand. With a clatter, the bow fell to the ground, out of my reach.
"Oh dear," Senri mocked. "A little girl, trying to attack a pureblood with an arrow, tipped with hunter metal." I gritted my teeth at his words. I wanted to kill him, tear him to pieces. It sucked though, since I knew I had even less of a chance than Ichiru at defeating Rido.
"I'll keep trying," I promised, more to myself than anyone else.
"Stupid and stubborn," Senri sighed, shaking his head. "I'll teach you the hard way." The whip flickered out to slash at my head. Immediately, I ducked, beginning to sprint towards Senri again.
"Your reflexes aren't too bad," Senri commented as I reached him. "But a pureblood's is much better. Even an aristocrat's far surpasses your ability." He leapt up as I slashed at him, the arrow swiping thin air. "You'll have to wait a million years before you can even think about scratching me." His arms suddenly reached around my waist, holding me against him.
"Don't be afraid," the treacherous voice purred as I gasped. "I'm only trying to help you."
"Get lost," I tried to scramble out of his grip, but his arms held tight, refusing to let me go.
"I'm hungry," Senri suddenly decided. His grip around my waist tightened as fangs pierced my neck. Feeling his bite only scared me more as I screamed aloud. Frantically trying to struggle, I managed to get one hand free, the one holding my arrow. Twisting as much as I could, I buried the arrow into Senri's side behind me. The smell of blood immediately burst into the air, as the metal bit into him. Senri's grip fell away as he retreated, his eyes murderous as he clutched the wound in his side.
"You'll pay for that," he spat, my blood still trickling down his chin. His whip suddenly lashed through the air, spinning a deadly arc towards me.
Before I could react, the blood whip struck my in the chest, cutting through my jacket and sending me flying. I landed hard on the concrete rooftop, my chest throbbing and my head aching. My quiver dug into my back, the remaining eight arrows resided loosely in the leather hold.
"Not so cocky now," Senri's face loomed into my view. "A level D like you can't match up to me. A helpless little girl, holding some metal arrows her mummy gave her. Or was it her daddy? Oh wait, he's dead. I killed him." Hearing him mention Dad made my blood boil. How dare he mention him so callously. I would give him a piece of my mind.
My muscles screamed as I tried to pull myself to my feet. My arrow was still clutched in my hand, dripping with Senri's blood, pooling in a dark, gooey mess on the ground.
"Stay down," a foot stepped carelessly on my wrist. "There's no point in you getting up. You'll just fall down again." The foot crushing my wrist pressed down harder, putting on pressure. He was trying to make me let go of the arrow.
"Stay down," he repeated, his foot digging in further. "And drop the arrow."
"No," I gritted my teeth. "You can't make me." It was no use. Eventually my hand unclenched and the arrow fell to the ground with a clatter.
"You're useless, you know," Senri's hand grasped my neck, lifting me into the air. I dangled there helplessly, slowly choking as his grip tightened. "Just like that pureblood."
I'm going to die.
What made me attack Senri in the first place? Why? Just why? I'm so stupid. How could I even hope to survive a battle with him? And now, I'll lose Ichiru. Either way, one of us will leave.
A tear trickled down my cheek as I realised how stupid I was.
An idiot.

Hey everyone! So, just as a first up, I'm sorry to all of you who like Senri. Don't get me wrong, I like him as well, he's one of my favourites. It's just that I was out of ideas so I decided to go by the manga/anime, and have Rido take over Senri. So, like the cliffhanger? Best one I've done so far I think XD Yeah, I know, Saki was stupid and decided she would take on Rido/Senri alone. Stupid Saki- oh, wait, I made her do that DX Stupid me. Don't worry, she'll survive (hopefully) ^.~. Thanks for reading and don't forget to comment/vote. See you later!!!
