I woke up. It's June 16th. Marks 22 years clean from self harm. I smile to myself, sitting up and heading to the bathroom.
I quickly comb my hair out and brush my teeth. Looking in the mirror, I go with with short, poofy purple off-shoulder dress with black flats. For makeup, I do some concealer, nude eyeshadow, mascara, blush, and some tinted lip gloss.
Taking a look in the mirror, I gasp. "I actually look pretty!"I whisper-yell. After doing my little dancey dance, I exit the bathroom to see Alcina already ready, reading a book.
She looks at me and her jaw drops. " You look lovely, dear, but what is the occasion?" Alcina asks, smiling. "It's been 22 years! 22 years since I last self harmed. Today marks 22 years." I say excitedly, trying not to cry. "That's wonderful, dear. I'm so proud of you. Would you like to throw a small party?" She asks. I nod in excitement. "We can invite Karl, Donna+Angie, and Mother Miranda." I say, practically looking like Jeff The Killer with how my smile was basically ear to ear.
Alcina laughed. "What about Moreau?" She asks. I immediately frown. "I don't really want him to come. I know it's rude but-" Alcina cuts me off," I know, dear. I know. This party is for you. You say who comes and who doesn't." I smile slightly and nod.
"Now, I'll go tell the maidens to prepare for the party then call the others. In the meantime, go tell our daughters about the party." Alcina says, standing. "One more thing", I start," Don't tell them what the party is for. I want to announce it." Lady Dimitrescu nods before we go our separate ways. Now to tell the girls.
First Bela. I knock and hear a 'Come in'. I walk in to see all three of them. 'This is going to be easier.' I think to myself. "Hi, Mama!" The girls say in unison, smiling. I smile back. "So, girls, tonight we're having a party. You'll find out why when it's time for the party. Karl, Donna, Angie, and Mother Miranda will be there." I say, grinning.
Daniela gasps. "A party?! Here? We haven't had a party in years!" She says, practically bouncing off the walls. I chuckle. "What about Uncle Moreau? Will he be coming?" Cassandra asks. I shake my head no, my smile turning into a frown. "I would rather he not come." I state. The girls nod, understanding.
I clear my throat. "So, when does the party start?" Bela asks, cocking her head to the side. Before I can reply, someone answers for me," Around 9pm." I turn to see Alcina. "Well, you didn't have to scare the Hell out of me." I say jokingly. Lady Dimitrescu laughs. "I didn't mean to, dear." She says.
"It's 12pm, so we have 9 hours till then." Daniela says. I turn back towards the girls and nod. "I think I'll wear a red, long, flowy dress with black flats to match my pendant." Bela says. "I'll wear a green, short, poofy dress with black flats to match my pendant." Daniela says. Cassandra hums, thinking for a moment. "Maybe I'll wear a yellow/gold short, body-con dress with matching heels since we're matching our pendants" Cass says, shrugging. I smile at them. "Those are wonderful choices!" I say enthusiastically.
The girls nod, smiling. I turn and look at Alcina. "I suppose I'll wear something different." She says, pausing before continuing, "I'll wear a long, white, flowy, elegant dress." I smile at her and she returns it.
I look at the time. 2pm. "How time flies." I say, giggling. The four women follow my gaze. "It sure does." Alcina says. "I'll be in our room, getting ready." She says before walking to our room. I turn towards the girls. "We'll get ready soon." Bela states. I nod and exit the room, closing the door behind me. I sigh. Maybe I should make sure my makeup doesn't need freshening? Yeah, that sounds good.
I make my way to a different bathroom, looking in the mirror. Makeup looked fine so I left, heading to the ballroom where the party will be held. As soon as I walk in, the maidens look at me, bowing before going back to work.
I smile and look around. The decorations and snacks were set up. All that was left was the music and places to sit. I grin, imagining what it'll be like. Like the girls, I haven't been or had a party in years. Since my 14th, or 15th, birthday.
I was snapped out of my thoughts when a knock came from the main door. "It's a bit early for guests." I mumble quietly to myself before going downstairs and answering the door.
To my surprise, it was Mother Miranda. "Oh, hello Mother Miranda! You're here early. Come in, come in." I say, moving so she can enter. Mother Miranda smiles, walking in. I close the door behind her, turning towards her. She smiles at me. "Please, just Mother or Miranda is fine. After all, you're my daughter in law." Miranda states, continuing, "As for being here early, I wanted to make sure everything was doing well. A party hasn't been thrown for over a decade or two so I was surprised when I got a call from my daughter about a party being held her." I nod.
Clearing my throat I say," Well, the party is currently still being set up in the ballroom. I was just there before you knocked and things seem to be going well. All that's needed to be set up is the music and for there to be places to sit." Miranda nods.
"I heard you're inviting most lords. Except Moreau. Is that correct?" Miranda asks. I nod. "I don't want him to be there." I state with a blank face. Mother Miranda nods in understanding.
"Mother, I didn't expect to see you here early. I suppose you're the one who knocked?" Alcina asked from bottom of the staircase. Mother Miranda turns to face her. "Hello, Alcina. Yes, it was me. I just came to make sure everything was doing alright." Miranda says, softly smiling up at Alcina. Lady Dimitrescu smiles back.
Mother Miranda clears her throat. "If I may ask, what is this party for? Or who is it for?" She asks, glancing between me and Alcina. "You'll find out what the party's for when the party begins. As for who it's for, it's for me." I say. "Ah, well, I look forward to it. I must be on my way, it's getting late Miranda says, waving goodbye as she walks out.
Once she's gone, I sigh and began to fidget. Alcina notices and walks to me. " What's wrong, dear?" She asks, petting my head. I look up at her. "Oh, I'm just nervous. What if something goes wrong?" I ask. Lady Dimitrescu cups my face. "Sweetheart, if something goes wrong, you have us. Me, my daughters, the other lords, and Mother Miranda. You'll be safe. I promise." She says, giving me a soft smile. I give her a small nod.
Glancing over at the time, it's now 8:55pm. "Christ on a stick, time really flies." I say, my southern accent slipping. Alcina looks at me confused. "Did you just say 'Christ on a stick'?" She asks. I laugh and nod. Alcina just rolls her eyes playfully.
After a minute of laughing, I stop when a knock comes from the door. "Alcina, could you please go see if the ballroom is ready?" I ask. She nods and walks away.
I open the door to see Donna and Angie. "Oh, hello! Come on in!" I say, giving a soft smile. Angie is in her usual outfit while Donna is wearing a flowy black dress, off the shoulder, and no veil.
The two come inside. "So, where's the cake?" Angie asks. "Angie! We just got here. Don't be so rude." Donna scolds Angie. I just laugh. "You'll get cake later, I promise." I say. "If you say so!" Was Angie's reply. I just chuckle as another knock erupts from the door.
I turn and open it to see Mother Miranda and Karl. "Hey! Come on in!" I say. The two walk inside. Karl was wearing a white dress shirt tucked into black dress pants with a black belt with gold accents, and black dress shoes. Miranda was wearing something similar to Donna except hers was long sleeve off the shoulder, where the sleeves cuffed her wrist but were flowy on her arm.
"Where's Big Bitch at?" Karl asks. I roll my eyes playfully. "Karl, don't start." I say. He rolls his eyes. "Right here." Alcina says as she comes from the direction of the ballroom. The three sisters buzz down here, morphing into their physical selves.
I run over to them. "You all look amazing!" I practically shout. "I agree, you four look stunning." Miranda says. Donna nods. "This is new." Karl says looking at Lady Dimitrescu. "Well, I thought I'd try something new." Alcina says, adding on," Besides, it looks wonderful because Donna made it." Donna shushes her.
"Well, shall we get this party started?" I ask. Everyone nods. Well, Karl says 'hell yeah'. Anyway, we go to the ballroom and begin to conversate.
After an hour, Alcina gets everyone to quiet down. I clear my throat. "So, you may be wondering 'What's this party for?' or 'Who's this party for?'" I begin, taking a deep breath before continuing, "Well, today, June 16th marks 22 years since I last self harmed. I wanted to celebrate and what's better way to celebrate than being with those you love and care about? What's a better way to celebrate than being with family? Blood or not."
Mother Miranda walked up to me, as did the others. "I'm proud of you, honey." Miranda says in a motherly tone. Karl chimes in," Yeah, same. You've been through some shit but you're still here. So yeah, I'm proud of you, shorty. " Angie floats up to me and boops my nose before saying, "Proud of you!" and floating back to Donna. "I'm very proud of you." Donna says in a genuine, caring way. I smile at them.
The girls approach me. "We're proud of you, Mama!" They say before tackling me with a hug. I laugh as Alcina tells them to not suffocate me. They get off me, giggling. Alcina walks to me, holding me close.
From there, we had the best night. There was no arguing, Karl didn't get drunk, Karl and Alcina didn't try and kill each other. It was wonderful. Angie was happy to get cake, the girls danced, Donna and Alcina chatted here and there as did Miranda with all of us. Angie really liked the cake. Like, REALLY liked the cake.
