She Was Me

She likes you,
I can tell as she brings you with her,
In every room she enters,
In every conversation she takes part in,
In every thought that brightens her crystal blue eyes.

She likes you,
I can tell as she takes a room,
Bold and brilliant entitled eyes locked on mine.
Trying to see how far she can push her boundary,
How far she can push me.
All the while knowing she can break my buttons, when you aren't there to see.

She likes you,
I can tell as she takes her glances across the crowded room.
And my cheeks burn scarlet as cool blood rushes to my face to trying to calm me down,
Trying to tell me 'He won't fall into her, like he fell in love with me.'
And my eyes choke back tears as I wait for you to come over and tell me 'this isn't what I want anymore.'
That I'm not what you want anymore.

She likes you,
I can tell as she smiles at you like the sun does to its Earth, in multiple light beams.
And it makes me want to scream,
"He doesn't need you,
Not when he already has me."

And I know she likes you,
I can tell because I know what it looks like to be in love with you.
I can tell because I was her once.
Under different circumstances,
With different choices,
But nonetheless,
In love with the same you.

I just can't bring myself to forgive her ruins,
Not when she's trying to be the other woman.
And I've vowed never to pursue,
Not when the one you want, isn't in love with you.
