As the Festival of Lights comes today,
I pray that all darkness fades away.
These faces full of smile make me say,
Life is beautiful, so why this dismay?
I hold your hand and look up at the sky,
I feel the lanterns dancing up on high.
Your presence quenches my thirst,
I feel the song as the crackers burst.
And as the music takes me in,
My soul sings and dances from within.
Because these lights let my darkness unmask ,
I feel that perhaps I too have a task.
I hold your hand and in happiness I dwell,
Just for a day, I have a happy story to tell.
