Y/n's POV:
Right before school got out for the day, I received a text from Luz.
Luz: Heyyy, girl! I'm having a sleepover at my house tonight with everyone. Do you wanna come? We'll have lots of snacks~ 🙃😝🥺💕✨
I smiled with amusement, silently laughing to myself. Luz was so much fun to hang out with, no matter the circumstances.
Y/n: Of course! Should I bring anything? Food maybe?
I waited for a response from Luz, trying not to get caught having my phone in class. Then my phone quietly beeped.
Luz: If you want to, you can bring extra snacks. You can never have too many snacks!! Please come over at 6:00 pm. We'll be waiting for you!! 🥰🤪😎⭐️💘
I quickly shut off my phone and shoved it back into my pocket. The classroom clock read 3:57, meaning we had four more minutes until the final bell rang. That would be enough time to finish the first section of my newly assigned Vocabulary packet.
I always found it annoying that my English teacher would hand these packets out on Friday to do over the weekend. There's no way I'd ever do my homework over the weekend! I always did my English homework during my other class periods since I had English last. Call it lazy all you want, but I'm not wasting any of my weekend slaving away to unnecessary school work.
Time Skip
As I carefully swung a grocery bag full of chips and candy, I stared into the evening sky, admiring its beauty. The bright orange and red hues were what attracted me the most. It was almost 6 pm, and I was currently walking over to Luz's house. This sleepover was going to be so much fun! I could tell already.
Before I met all my friends from the Demon Realm, I never liked to go out much. The thought of introducing myself to new people and having to BS my way through small talk terrified me to the bone. Recently, I've been slowly getting out of my comfort zone little by little, and it's been helping me socially. It's been nice getting together with all my friends- especially Hunter.
Out of everyone else, I spend more time with Hunter. He's what you would call a close friend. Although, I would prefer if it later became something more. I've had a crush on Hunter ever since I saw him without his Golden Guard mask on. While everyone else was skeptical of him, I was immediately enamored. I mean, who wouldn't fall for him? His ash blonde locks and his deep magenta eyes are to die for! Thankfully, he turned out to be a kind person as I got to know him a little better over time. It's nice having someone to talk to from time to time, and I'm hoping he feels the same way.
I snapped myself out of my thoughts once I realized I was approaching Luz's neighborhood, smiling to myself. I couldn't wait to meet up with everyone again!
However, the sound of approaching footsteps stopped me dead in my tracks. Was somebody following me?
With a cold sweat starting to form along my forehead, I turned my head around, a sense of paranoia building up within me. I was confused when I saw no one behind me.
I gulped. "Um, hello? Is... Is anyone out there?"
No response.
This was starting to get real creepy. I glanced around the area, scanning for any possible danger lurking around. I'd have to tell Luz about this once I arrived at her house in case there was someone dangerous on the loose around town.
Just as I was about to return on my path to Luz's house, something rough was quickly placed over my body. It felt like a... burlap potato bag?!
What the heck is going on here?!?!?!
I struggled to escape from my burlap prison, but the person responsible for this had already swung me over their shoulders and was carrying me away from my destination. I wanted to scream, cry for help- anything- but the burlap bag was starting to close in on me, making my journey extremely uncomfortable. I felt around my surroundings with my hands, and realized that I had dropped my grocery bag upon my capture.
At least that'll leave some evidence, I decided.
Soon, I was removed from my kidnapper's shoulders and was tossed somewhere unrecognizable. This caused me to hit my head against whatever was placed inside my new location.
I blacked out.
Hunter's POV:
It was now 6 :30 pm. Everyone was present and accounted for at Luz's sleepover... except for Y/n.
Luz told me she was coming, so why wasn't she here yet? Y/n usually makes it to things on time, so I found it strange that she wouldn't already be here.
I tapped Luz on the shoulder. "Hey, isn't Y/n supposed to be here?"
"Yeah, she is," Luz replied. She glanced around the room. "Now that I think about it, I never saw Y/n come inside. That's... odd..."
"Could you try calling her?" I suggested. "Maybe something happened, and that's why she's late."
"Of course." Luz removed her phone from her pocket, dialed Y/n's number (I noticed that Y/n's contact name was "Precious Bean Who Must Be Protected"), and waited for Y/n to pick up.
After several minutes of ringing, Luz ended the call without saying a word.
"What happened?" I asked.
"It went straight to voicemail," Luz replied, "which is strange. Y/n is usually on top of all her calls and texts."
I had never felt more anxious in my life. Something must've happened to her!
"Do you think she might be in trouble?" I wondered.
Luz was starting to look worried too. "Let's go search the neighborhood. She might've gotten lost again."
"Yeah, maybe."
Y/n was known for getting lost in places after daydreaming for a long time. She really needs to pay attention to where she's going.
Luz gathered up everyone else. "Hey, has anyone seen Y/n tonight? She hasn't arrived yet, and Hunter and I are starting to get worried."
Everyone shook their heads.
"No, I don't think I even saw her come in," Gus answered.
"Me neither," Willow said.
"Do you think she'll be ok?" Amity inquired.
"Hunter and I were just about to go on a search through the neighborhood," Luz announced. "Do any of you want to come with us?"
"Of course," Amity agreed. "I'll do anything for Y/n."
Thankfully, the others decided to join us as well. We all made our way outside once we had gotten Camila and Vee to help us out. I had a feeling that we'd need them.
"Y/NNNNN!" Luz shouted.
"Y/N, WHERE ARE YOU?" Willow cried out.
"Y/NNNNN!" I hoped my voice would reach her. It had to.
"Hey, guys! Check this out!" Gus summoned all of us over to him. "I found something!"
In front of Gus sat a pathetic grocery bag filled with chips and candy. Some of its contents had been spilled out of it, and the bag was crumpled.
"Y/n asked if she could bring snacks, and I said she could," Luz informed us. "Do you think that could be hers?"
"I think so." Gus bent down and got a closer look at it. Then, he pulled out the receipt and handed it to Camila. "Here, Miss Noceda. I've heard that these pieces of paper can have the buyer's name on them."
Camila carefully examined the receipt and gasped softly. "This does belong to Y/n!"
Something within me began to bubble inside me. Anger? Fear? A mix of both, maybe? Whatever it was, I was ready to start punching whoever did this to Y/n. There was no way she could've simply vanished.
"We have to do something, Mami," Luz cried. "Y/n could be seriously hurt!"
Camila wrapped Luz up in her arms. "We'll find her, Mija. I promise."
"I think I might be able to help," Vee addressed. "I might be able to track her down just by sensing her magic."
"But Y/n's human," Willow pointed out. "How can you know for sure whether she has magic in her or not?"
Vee smiled. "Trust me, Y/n has a little bit of magic inside her. It may not be a lot, but it should be enough to track her down. Besides, Luz is human, yet I can sense some magic from her right now."
"That's perfect! Finding her should be easy, then." Amity sighed with relief.
"Let's go," I decide. "Y/n needs us now."
Y/n's POV:
I was awoken by a strange voice calling out things to me. I could barely understand what they were, due to my half-asleep state. Feeling groggy, I rubbed my eyes to wake them up a little. My mind was still a little confused.
"It's about time you woke up," an unfamiliar voice drawled. "I was hoping you'd be awake much earlier than this, but I guess there's nothing I can do about it now. You're awake and ready to get started."
"Huh?" I was now starting to see clearly. I was in a small room filled with research books and weapons. In front of me was a man with swooped back, brown hair, glasses, and a brown research coat. "Where... am I...?"
"Oh, you're inside the Gravesfield Historical Museum," the man replied. "My name is Jacob Hopkins."
(You remember this guy?)
I notice that I'm trapped inside a cage, separating myself from Jacob. "Why am I here? Let me out please!"
"I'm sorry, but I can't do that," Jacob apologized. "You see, I'm a man of research, and I've been studying the history of witches. 'What are they?' and 'Where did they come from?'- that sort of thing. Anyway, I've seen you hanging around with a group of kids whom I suspect are witches, yourself included."
"Wait, I'm not a-"
"Oh, yes you are!" Jacob interrupted me. "You are in fact a witch! I've seen you performing little magic tricks with your friends, and your ears are even pointed."
While it's true that my ears have a slight point to them, they look nothing like my friends' ears. This guy must be delusional.
"You're crazy!" I accused. "I am not a witch! I've lived here in Gravesfield my entire life, and my friends aren't witches either."
I had to protect my friends' identities somehow.
Jacob didn't seem to buy it. "That's what they all say. Anyway, I'm just going to do a little bit of testing on you. Hope you don't mind."
"I do mind!" I snapped irritably. "Get me out of this cage!"
Jacob pulled out a sharp needle, making me wince. "Nope."
He then injected the needle into my arm without any warning. I help still, but I started to breathe heavily and tear up. I absolutely hated needles!
"Just had to collect a blood sample, sweetie," Jacob explained. He carefully squirted my blood into one of those disks you have when using a microscope. "I'm going to examine your blood to see if there's anything unusual about it."
As Jacob looked at my blood through his microscope, I started to cry. The pain in my arm wouldn't go away, and I really missed my friends. I prayed that they had come looking for me. Maybe I could text them!
I reached my hand into my pocket, then realized that my phone wasn't there.
"About your phone, it's right here on my desk," Jacob said. It was almost as if he was keeping a close eye on me. "I didn't want you calling your friends just yet."
I raised my leg up and kicked the cage door as hard as I could. Unfortunately, my legs aren't all that powerful, so my kick didn't make any kind of impact to my situation.
"Oh, and would you mind not damaging the cage?" Jacob requested. "It was expensive."
Suddenly, I could hear a pounding noise coming from outside the room. Jacob and I turned our attention towards the door.
"What is that?" Jacob asked himself.
Just as he was about to open the door, Camila burst inside the room. Everyone else was with her too!
"What a pleasant surprise, Mr. Hopkins," Camila spoke in a deadly tone. "I never would've guessed you'd try something like this again."
Hunter jumped out in front of Camila, looking just as angry.
"Get away from my Y/n!" he commanded.
His Y/n? I blushed. He never called me that before.
"Stay back!" Jacob demanded. "This is strictly for research!"
"I'll show you what's strictly for research!" Camila reached down to where her foot was, slipped off one of her chanclas, and smacked Jacob directly across the face.
Jacob fell to the floor, unconscious. Camila must've hit him hard.
"Y/n!" Hunter cried. He forced the cage door open and helped me out of it. "Did he hurt you, Y/n?"
I nodded. "Just a little. He took a blood sample from me."
Hunter's brow furrowed in anger. "How dare he! He shouldn't have done that to you."
He reached his arms out to me. I was confused.
"You look tired. I'll carry you," Hunter offered.
Blushing like crazy, I accepted and allowed Hunter to scoop me up into his arms. I held my arms around his neck, being careful as to not choke him.
Hunter carried me outside. In the distance, I could see Camila's car parked outside the Museum. Everyone else started to get inside the car, making Hunter and I the last ones to enter it. I looked up into Hunter's eyes. He was still furious at Jacob. Without a second thought, I held my head up to Hunter's scared cheek, then gave him a kiss out of gratitude.
"My hero..." I whispered.
Hunter's face went crimson red after I kissed him. "It was nothing. I just wanted to make sure you were safe."
I snuggled my face into Hunter's chest. "I want this moment to last forever..."
"I do too," Hunter admitted.
"Then let's never forget it."
I gave Hunter another kiss- this time on his pursed lips. He was surprised for a moment, then returned the favor with a kiss of his own, landing on my lips.
As we approached the car, I could hear several squeals of excitement coming from the others, but I didn't mind at all. As long as I had Hunter with me, I knew for sure that I would have a good time.
