To those who don't know this story
It all began in St. Louis, Missouri
Back when Prohibition was in full effect
It was the 1920s, what did you expect?

It was called the roaring twenties
The underground world of speakeasies
Drinking alcohol was considered illegal
Getting caught with one made you a criminal

The only way to get one directly
Was going through a speakeasy
An underground club for customers
A hubspot for bootleggers and gangsters

They provide the disitilled spirits
At the risk of fighting rubes and misfits
How did a homeless cat like Rocky
Wind up in a place like Lackadaisy?

He returned one day to St. Louis, Missouri
After travelling across the country
The only thing he had was a violin
Day in and day out he practiced all over again

He sat on the pavement and began to play
Until the day he played a tune for Mrs. May
He came one day with a fiddle in hand
And wound up performing in Zib's band

He worked as an errand boy during the day
Then played the violin at night for Mrs. May
He found his true home at Little Daisy
And chose to lay down his life for Lackadaisy
