1: A "Normal" Day
Nadwe breathed quietly, pulling his blankets closer. A small grin was splayed on his sleeping face. The smile didn't last very long, though, as Nadwe's alarm suddenly rang out in it's loud, obnoxious manner.
"BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!" it crowed into the child's ear.
Nadwe groaned, flinging his covers off and sitting up. He glared annoyedly at the alarm clock, then sighed.
/Why can't it just be a little bit quieter? I don't need a damn siren screaming at me every morning!/
He slammed his hand down on the Off button, which had been misprinted as "Oof". Nadwe's friend- Muffin- had pointed the mistake out, and Nadwe- who'd had no idea how damn noisy the thing would be- had bought it for the laughs. He sure wasn't laughing now, though.
Stretching his arms in a wide arc, Nadwe slipped out of his bed with a yawn. He walked over to his closet to get ready for school, grabbing his favorite T-shirt off it's hook and pulling up a pair of black jeans.
The shirt was pretty basic. Black with a big white strip across the middle. Nothing too special. But Nadwe still loved it. Muffin had gotten him it for his 13th birthday, but it'd been kind of big. Now, the shirt actually fit Nadwe, and he wore it every day he could.
Nadwe grabbed a blue zip-up hoodie off of a hook, putting it on as he laced his grey sneakers. Then he stood, opened his bedroom door, ran down the stairs, and shoved a piece of bread into the toaster.
He tapped his foot impatiently, glancing at the front door. When the toast popped out, Nadwe grabbed it and ran outside, ripping his backpack off of a kitchen chair a he did so.
/Don't wanna be late. Don't wanna be late. Don't wanna be late/ Nadwe's brain buzzed as he ran down the sidewalk.
He reached the corner of the block and turned, continuing a few houses down until he stood in front of a faded ice blue building. A boy with light chestnut hair and blue eyes was trudging down the white, wooden steps of the house.
"Muffin! Come on! If we're late again we're gonna get a detention! This is the third time this week!" Nadwe called to his friend.
Muffin glanced his tired eyes up from the floor, and- seeing his friend- smiled and jumped off of the small stairway to meet Nadwe. He let a slow, mumbled stream of words spill from his mouth.
"Sorry. I was talking with Woolf and TBH last night, and I stayed up way later than I should have. Feeling a bit dead right now, and I-"
"That's great, but we don't really have time right now!" Nadwe said, clutching onto Muffin's arm and dragging his friend towards the school.

Nadwe and Muffin went to Faith Lake Middle School, both of them being in 10th grade. The teachers there were actually pretty nice. They didn't give a lot of homework, were great at explaining lessons, and were fair about late or missing work.
The students, however, were not so great. There was a lot of bullies and obnoxious idiots. Ever since their first day at the school, Nadwe and Muffin had both pretty big targets, and neither of the fifteen-year-olds knew why.
It was alright, though, because they had each other for company, along with a couple of the friendly kids at the school. They also had a bunch of other awesome friends. Well, online friends. Nadwe hadn't met any of the SockSquad in person- other than Muffin- but they were really supportive, and that was enough.
After school, Nadwe would play with the gang until it was about 7:30, recording videos for YouTube and streaming the SMP to Twitch. His parents weren't around very often, so homework could wait until the very last second if Nadwe wanted it to.
But Nadwe was a good kid. He did his homework early and helped out around the house whenever he could... which was a lot of the time. Not having parents around meant ten times more responsibility.
Nadwe cleaned the dishes, picked up after Astro, his dog, and Milli, his cat, and did plenty of other chores to keep things running. Muffin always made Nadwe's lunch for him because his friend was so busy that he didn't have time to do the job himself.
The two now sat in their second class period- science. Mr. Skaggs stood next to a white board, explaining yesterday's homework. Nadwe sighed, boredom dulling his eyes. He glanced out the window next to him, then squinted.
/What the heck is that?/ he thought, blinking in confusion. He closed his eyes and shook his head, then opened them and looked out past the glass once more. /Am I hallucinating?/
Nadwe turned to his left and was met with the sight of Muffin's head face down on his desk. Nadwe sighed and tapped his friend's shoulder.
"Muffin. Look. Can you see that?"
Muffin groaned quietly and lifted his head from the desk. "Can I see what?"
Nadwe pointed to the window. Muffin sat up to get a better view, his eyes widening as he looked out to the school's field.
"What's that?"
"I don't know, you tell me."
"Well-"
"Fin. Nad. Please, pay attention," Mr. Skaggs said.
"But there's a-" Nadwe tried.
"Do I need to give you a detention?"
"... No..."
"Alright, good. Anyways- class, can anybody tell me how many bones are in an adult human body? Neil, go ahead."
Nadwe sighed, then glanced back out the window. A figure stood in the shade of a tree. It was tall and compact, and it had a few glowing slivers on it's body. It had moved from it's original spot, and now lifted what Nadwe thought was it's arm.
The end of the limb looked like a stump, and it suddenly glowed as well... Glowed like L4FF's arm-gun in animations of the SMP.
"N- Nadwe... what is it-?" Muffin stuttered quietly.
A blast of light suddenly shot away from the figure and towards the school, striking the building in the side. Muffin screamed- along with many of the other kids- and Nadwe stood, grabbing Muffin's arm and running for the door.
Muffin gladly let Nadwe drag him, and once outside of the classroom, the two ran towards the school exit. Dozens of other kids from many different classes had the same idea, and a crowd of panicked students pushed Nadwe and Muffin towards the school's front doors. An alarm went off, making the situation all the more frightening.
The duo clutched each other's arms, neither wanting to loose their friend in the sea of students. Nadwe was thrust out of the building and he pulled Muffin out after him, the two of them running down the street.
/WHAT THE FUCK IS HAPPENING?!/ Nadwe's brain screamed, his face paved with terror.
Muffin repeated Nadwe's thought aloud, but Nadwe didn't respond. He continued down the street and past Muffin's house. Muffin didn't argue- his parents would probably be confused on why he'd come home so early- and the two ran all the way back to Nadwe's place.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Nadwe opened the door and pulled Muffin inside, Muffin slamming it when he stepped passed the doorframe. The two stood by the entrance, panting and out of breath. Then Muffin looked up into Nadwe's fear lit eyes.
"What the fuck was that?"
"... I don't know..."
The two stared at each other for a couple moments longer.
"... L- let's pretend that d- didn't happen," Nadwe whispered. He didn't want to try to make sense of the event and sure didn't want to confront the fact that it'd been real.
Muffin nodded agreement. "Y- yeah..." He blinked at Nadwe. "Y- you wanna do some M- Minecraft?"
Nadwe nodded as well. "Y- yeah."
