Chapter X
Jareth Everild's POV
I caught Roselea before she could hit the floor and carried her to her room. Jareth Eden following close behind me.
We reached Roselea's room. Jareth opening the door, I carried Roselea in and placed her down on the bed.
"Roselea? Roselea! Please wake up!" The other me was freaking out, shaking Roselea lightly, yet forcefully on the bed.
I walked around the bed and placed my hand on his shoulder, pulling him back into a seat near the bed.
"It's ok Jareth. She'll be fine. I've only known her a day and even I can tell she's a strong one. We'll help all we can, we just need to figure out what has happened."
He nodded slowly, his eyes never leaving Roselea.
I picked the notes up that I had placed down on the bedside table, opening them up.
A series of liked up dots were written on the paper.
The paper also had a strange smell to it.
I lifted the paper up to my nose to smell it better.
"No, surely not."
The other Jareth looked up at me, confusion written all over his face.
I would probably regret this later, and it wasn't really something I often did, but I needed to know if I was right.
I touched the paper to the tip of my tongue.
A foul taste entered my mouth and I spat it out of the window next to me.
I looked up to Jareth and saw more confusion on his face.
"Faeavane."
He looked looked towards his daughter, but before he could start freaking out again, I stopped him.
"Not much, she should wake soon. She just needs to get it out of her system."
He nodded and looked back to his daughter.
I sat in the seat on the opposite side of the bed, staring at the notes in my hand. They were identical, right down to the calligraphy 'V' in the bottom right corner. The same 'V' that was drawn on the note that was attached to the mirror that brought me and Sarah to this world.
Sarah... I had to find her. I couldn't help but blame myself. If I had been there, I might have been able to stop her from being taken. I soon pushed those thoughts aside. If I kept thinking about how this was all my fault, I would never find her. I would never figure out the notes. The notes that, somehow, some way, would lead me back to her. They would help me find and save my love and her look alike from this world.
"I'm sorry." I looked up to see Jareth Eden staring back at me. "About your Sarah. I'm sorry she was taken."
I sighed and sat straighter in my seat. I had no desire to lounge across them like normal, it just seemed... Wrong.
"What about you? You're Sarah?"
He coked his head slightly and looked back to Roselea.
"What do you mean?" He said flatly.
He knew exactly what I meant.
"Come on Jareth. You and I are so alike that it scares me. Right down to the part where we both tried to create a daughter of magic, only difference being you succeeded. My Sarah is the love of my life. She is my eternity. And it is tearing me apart, her being... Taken. So you are not telling me, that you don't care if your Sarah is missing-"
"Of course I care!" He snapped, cutting me off from my sentence.
He took a deep breath and answered again. "I do care she is missing yes, I'm just worried about my daughter now." He said, in a calmer and more even, yet blank tone.
I nodded my agreement.
"I know you are. She will be weak when she wakes, but she will wake. Of that I am certain."
He nodded and looked down, placing his head in his hands. It was strange seeing myself, in a way, do that. Sure I had seen Gareth do that, many times. But this was different. He was actually me.
"You love her too. Don't you." I stated. It was more of a fact than a question.
"It doesn't matter."
I stood and walked over to him.
"Of course it matters. It matters a lot. More than you would think. Love is thee most powerful kind of magic there is. And it may just be the key to finding the Sarah's. If you are going to keep lying about such things as this, then you are of no use to me." I barked the ending at him. My Sarah was missing and, yes Roselea was ill, but his attitude was starting to be a liability.
He sighed and looked up at me.
"Yes. I've loved her since I first laid eyes on her. But when I said it doesn't matter, I say that in meaning that she does not feel the same way."
I smiled slightly and placed my hand on his shoulder.
"The hardest thing in life to do, is admit you're wrong. And you may not know it, but I do. And seams as we're the same person, I guess it counts. You're wrong. It may not seem evident, and it might have been buried deep within her, but trust me. She loves you."
He shook his head slightly and I patted his shoulder a few times before walking back to my seat.
"The Sarah in your world, is the same as the one in mine, except she's younger. Give her time, and she will realize. And you will be there when she does."
I sat for a few hours trying to decipher the notes, but they made no sense. They were just dots.
.... .... ... .. .. .... ..... . ..... .
... . ... .. .... .. . ... .... . .. .... ..... . ... ...
.... ... . ..
.... .... ... .. ..... .
. ... . . .. . .... ..... .. .... .... .. ... ... .... .... ... ..
Just 4 lines, with dots lined up.
"It doesn't mean anything." I said, starting to get annoyed.
"It has to mean something." Jareth Eden said, holding the other, identical, note.
"Maybe it's a code, like morse."
We looked over to see Roselea pulling herself up on the bed.
Our notes were forgotten and on the floor as we rushed over to help her.
I held out a glass of water to her, which she took steadily.
"Thank you." She smiled and I nodded.
"Can I see?" She gestured to the notes on the floor behind us.
"Ok, but I'm going to hold it. The notes are lined with Faeavane, and it's... targeting you." I said as I walked over and picked up the notes.
"Targeting me? How is that possible?" She asked, cocking her head to the side slightly in the most innocent of gestures it made me wonder if she was aware she did it.
"Yes. It looks like someone has put a very old spell on the notes, a spell I haven't heard of being used in thousands of years in my world, where the Faeavane can be changed so that it will only effect one person. In this case, you."
She cocked her head a little more, but then shook it and looked at the note I held out.
"It's not morse, but I think your right." Jareth Eden said, sitting beside Roselea on the bed.
She mmm'd a reply as she studied the note.
"It never goes above 5..." She said in a low voice.
"What?"
"The dots." She pointed, careful not to touch the paper. "They never go above 5.
I looked up, turning the note back to me as I stood from the bed.
"Tap code..."
"What?" The Eden's said in unison.
"Tap code. 5x5." I said frantically. "Pen and paper?" I asked Roselea and she gestured to the desk behind me.
"What's tap code?"
"It's a type of code, created to replace morse. Where letters are placed in a 5x5 grid and dots are used to create sentences." I explained as I scribbled on the bit of paper.
"But there's 26 letters in the alphabet."
Roselea pointed out.
"Not if you get rid of K. Because C and K sound the same, therefore only one of them is needed, making it 5x5." I replied as I handed her the piece of paper I had just drawn on. I drew a grid.
X 1 2 3 4 5
1 A B C D E
2 F G H I J
3 L M N O P
4 Q R S T U
5 V W X Y Z
She looked at it and smiled wildly at me. I returned the smile and took the paper from her and began to decipher the note.

"Three children of the Labyrinth? That makes no sense."
I said confused as I studied the grid again. It didn't make sense to be wrong, it made a sentence.
"Yes it does." Roselea said, sitting up again. Her father placed his hand on her shoulder to push her back down but she stopped him.
"Please father. Help me if you must, but I need to get to the library."
He nodded and helped her out of bed, her leaning on him for support and we started forwards to the library.
We walked through the door and she pointed at a shelf.
"That one." She said and Jareth Eden helped her over.
She reached up and pulled a red, leather bound book with golden engraving, off of the shelf.
She sat at one of the seats and flipped through the pages until she found the one she wanted.
"A-ha." She said turning the book around and pointing at one of the pages. "I knew this sounded strange when I first read it. Now I know why."
I leaned over the book to read the scripture.
"The prophecy of the three children of the Labyrinth." I read aloud and looked up at her questionably.
She nodded for me to continue.
"Three children of the labyrinth shall answer the call,
Two of the same and one magic born,
To save the champions imprisoned in chains,
Ones soul to be tested at moon's remains."
She nodded and I understood.
"Two of the same. It didn't mean twins like I thought, it meant two versions of you." She said gesturing to myself and Jareth Eden.
"And the magic born being you." Jareth Eden stated.
"To save the champions. As in the champions of the Labyrinth. The Sarahs'." I said and Roselea nodded.
"You, my dear Roselea. Are a genius." I said ruffling her short, uneven, brown hair.
"Of course she is." Jareth Eden said proud next to me. "She's my daughter." We laughed lightly at that as Roselea slapped him playfully.
"Looks like we've got our starting point." I grinned and Roselea smiled wildly back.
Hi guys. This is a long chapter I know, but it all needed to fit. :-)
Tap code is in fact a real thing, and something I use sometimes, so that was easy to write for me. And the prophecy was written by me, myself and I! So I'm proud! Hahaha.
Thanks so much for reading and I was super exited to see that Pixies56 commented telling me how she took her tea! Thanks!!!!!!! Love it when you guys play along with my nuttyness hahaha.
Thanks again!
