XIII The Faeries Secret (The Real Story)

Glory

I will tell you the real story, to avoid punishment!

I'm afraid the 'man in the mirror' now knows I exaggerated some lines, as the bright sun in the sky has now turned into dark rainy clouds of doubt. Is it just me, or am I headed for doom?

I crossed my fingers since I heard that humans do that if they do that when they want to remain safe. The strike of thunder ⚡always scared me! But it does not appear that weather change will happen anytime soon.

It is said that when lightning strikes, the 'wise ones' have made a strike in a bowling alley. Or have they lost a game to the devil? I don't remember.

Wonder if that's true or if it is just a myth?

Hmph!

~~

It was Our Day of Freedom, a holiday that didn't really make any sense to me, but out of respect for the elders, I bowed in front of the ill-fated statue of an ogre near the pond that morning to say our fairy ritual of Independence.

Please don't make me say it again, it leaves a bad taste in my mouth! I whispered this statement out loud, as I folded my hands in agony.

I jolted as I heard that sound!

Sigh! I'll just have to repeat the allegiance again! I hate getting thunder bolted, but it's the only way the 'old man' speaks!

But the score is: Weather wins, Glory = 0 points!

It is a big disappointment as if all I threw was a gutter ball in the bowling lane. But here's the fairy allegiance at your service:

Oath to my dearest ogre, it's my deepest gratitude to have this part of the land as our own. Thanks to the ogres, we mythological creatures can call ... Faerymore - our home.

I barely choked on the last line because I know the truth. But it's not the time to explain what the 'secret' is all about. In time, it will be released.

There, I said it, oh wise one are you happy now?

🌝 Well, the sun shined, so I take that as a yes. What a relief! I flew in circles since I was excited that I didn't anger 'him'!

Besides the hairs on my skin are beginning to stand up since I might become fairy toasted!

Anyhow, we had to do that task every major holiday because Hyacinth and the elders before her forced us to show our gratitude to our unlikely foes.

And yes, my punishment for being late was to sit next to Leon, the elf who used to be my friend. We grew up together, much like the sibling relationship Jack had with his sister. But our friendship fell apart, once he fell into the deep spell of the ogre.

Somehow, this old, brown ogre statue was created by faeries of long ago. It was probably built like those Egyptian architects who created the Great Pyramids of Giza! Where they obtained the mud and paste are beyond me. Perhaps there was a secret place before my time where our ancestors found the tools.

And just between you and me, many say, "the Abyss is full of secrets". I also know that there will be traps lying around for these two siblings before they reach the labyrinth. Not sure where they are, but there's only one way to figure it out. And be prepared for this attack, is also a necessity.

Shh!

Do you hear that noise?

I'm whispering these words to you because I know someone upstairs would be upset with me.

I swore I heard a thumping noise, but it might just be my imagination.

~~

Anyway, as I mentioned before, I made my morning rounds and the ... um ... ogre allegiance.

My normal attire consists of a mini fairy dress, fish stockings, and ankle boots. I dyed my hair pink at times because it looked better that way! But to observe the holiday with my fellow companions, mind you I was doing this for their sake, I washed out all the dye.

I hardly cleaned my dusty white wings for I knew they would be dirty by the end of the day. So, what's the use? A few smudges here and there do not make a difference to me. They are still usable, so I can wash them later.

I always bathe in the lagoon near the forest when I can, anyway.

So, anyway let's skip to the part where I was running late for Hyacinth's gathering of all the wonderful creatures of Faerymore.

I wasn't that excited to leave a game of mud ball for a boring gathering, but eager Crescent had to yank me out of my youthful activities.

I flew like the wind, knowing that Destiny was galloping right behind me.

However, what was odd was that there were yellow markers in the forest signaling us to stop. But little did I know at the time, that they were there for a purpose - Hyacinth's warning that she didn't want any mischief going on in her gathering.

I missed the sign ... not on purpose but my speedy flying techniques were to blame. However, Destiny did not. She was neighing at me but ignored the noise.

But by the time I figured out my mistake, it was too late! I had to fall in line with the other mythical creatures on the ground, but accidentally landed on top of Hyacinth's brown hat! But how was I supposed to know that was not a landing station from above!

Faeries look like ants from the sky! Perhaps that was the same thing that you might see when you are on an airplane. Your view gets obscured from the high altitude.

And the rest is history, my punishment still lasts.

I was mad at Destiny for a while, and that is why she did not follow me when I greeted the Marquez siblings. But wherever Destiny wandered now, she'll find her way back home. Her hooves will take her back as I secretly placed a special powder on them and it will never wear out. Well, that was what I thought.

Ever since I took care of her since she was a mini - con, Destiny has always obeyed me. Branding her as a foal with my initials GLM, I knew I could trust her.

Thus, Destiny became my one and only true companion, my sidekick, and unicorn. Others have tried to catch her, but she always evaded them.

Destiny's dark coat was like her mother's Demeter; who perished in the hands of the ogres, while her wild streak came from Jaguar, a male unicorn that abandoned her.

So, I'm going to continue time now by keeping my hands together in a straight format and take these brats with me into Aurora's cottage.

As we stepped on her welcome visitor's mat, I took in a deep sigh of relief. There isn't any way I can back out now. It's now or never.

I hope Jack and Jill will soon thank me for saving their lives! And with that wish, I wonder what Aurora will have to say when she knows that I did not come alone.
