Grim yawned, then looked around in confusion at the strange room he had woken up in. Then he remembered that he was staying at a strangely operated hotel, and the events of yesterday. Coming to the Labinnac and learning about the storm, Malinda disappearing, and meeting Melanie.
Grim smiled at the thought of Melanie as he got up to do his usual morning routine. Walking into the washroom he remembered that he didn't pack toiletries, but found a large towel with toothpaste and a packaged toothbrush sitting on top. There was a note attached to the toothpaste, 'I left some for your friends as well, Melanie'
Grim graciously accepted and used the gifts, brushing his teeth and showering. After stepping out of the shower, Grim went to get dressed into the clothes he had crumpled in a ball and thrown in the closet. Instead he found a single set of clothes hanging up in the closet, a note was taped to them as well. 'Found them last night, hope they fit. Melanie'
"When did she do this?" He thought to himself. It occurred to him that because she was the only maid working here, she would have the keys to almost every room in the hotel. The thought of her sneaking in while he was sleeping both excited Grim and creeped him out.
Grim took them off the hanger and tried them on. A pair of baggy black cargo pants, a long yet slim white t-shirt, and a crimson fleece vest.
"Sweet threads" He said to himself as he posed in front of the mirror. Adjusting the collar of the vest, he turned and headed for the door. He then noticed the absence of someone. Grim scanned the room for any sign that Malinda had been there. Besides the things that he had moved, nothing was out of place.
Grim thought back to the night Malinda had disappeared, replaying it in his mind like he was rewinding a scene in a movie. He then realized that the circumstances around Malinda's disappearance were extremely suspicious. He let out a sigh, he had been kidding himself thinking that she would come back. Grim rushed out of the room only to crash into something right outside the door. With cries of surprise, Grim and someone else were sent toppling to the floor.
There was a few seconds of awkward silence as Melanie stared up from underneath Grim, and Grim stared down at Melanie from his position on top of her. "G-get of me, you moron!" Melanie said angrily. He got up and brushed himself off. "Chill, it was an accident" He replied, offering her a hand up. "Besides, that isn't how you talk to your guests" Grim added after Melanie accepted his hand up. "Yeah? Well you aren't supposed to be running in here" She shot back as she wiped off the back of her skirt with her free hand. "I was in a rush..." Grim said, looking away awkwardly. When he did he saw Ever and Annie, watching from the sidelines.
"Yo guys, what's up?" Grim called out to them, as they were still standing by their room door. "Oh, we were just about to crack out the popcorn" Ever said, walking up to Grim and Melanie.
"How long have you guys been-"
"Long enough" Annie said, cutting Grim off. Melanie let out a cough "Did you two sleep well?" she asked in a monotone voice. 'Must be back to her expressionless robot maid routine' Grim thought to himself.
"Not as well as you two" Ever said slyly. "Pardon?" Melanie asked sharply. "Well since you guys were getting into your little spat while you were still holding hands, I assumed you guys got it o-". With a swift elbow jab to the stomach, Annie cut off Ever before he could say anything else. (not that anything else needed to be said)
"Holding hands?" Grim and Melanie said in sinc. They turned toward each other and noticed they hadn't let go of each other after Grim help Melanie up. Melanie pulled her hand away in disgust. "Why didn't you let go earlier?" She cried. "I kind of forgot" Grim said simply. "Besides, you could have pulled away at any time"
"Whatever, breakfast will be ready shortly" She said, sashaying away.
"Tsundere confirmed" Grim said when she was far away enough that she couldn't hear them. "No kidding dude, that's the sassiest piece of ass I've ever seen" Ever commented.
"Ugh..." Annie groaned. "Cold you stop being so grumpy, you've been like this since last night" Ever told her. "No I haven't" Annie pouted. "We can't help if we don't know what the problem is" Grim said. "Look, just leave me alone for a while" Annie huffed. Then she stormed away, leaving Grim and Ever in a state of confusion.
"What the hell?" Ever muttered. "Maybe shes on her period" Grim pondered out loud. Ever looked over at him, shocked and appalled. "Did you actually just say that?"
"Sorry dude, it just slipped out" Grim shrugged. "Yeah, that seems to happen a lot with you" Ever grunted in reply. "Don't I know it..." Grim sighed. "Maybe we should just go and eat" Ever suggested. "Sound good to me!" Grim said cheerfully, skipping toward the stairs like a little girl. "That's because you don't know when to stop shoveling food into your fat mouth" Ever muttered under his breathe, following Grim to the dining room.
-------------------------------
There wasn't much talk at the table that morning, the only sounds that were heard were the clinking and clattering of silverware on plates, and Melanie and Grim's whispers.
"So they fit you?" Melanie asked. "Yeah, and there just my style too" Grim replied. "Great, there's boxes of them in storage that the manager wants me to get rid of to make room" Melanie told him.
Down at the other end of the table, Annie was getting angrier by the minute. Ever is quietly eating his pancakes and exchanging awkward glances with a girl across the table named Riley, the Snnie look-alike who has picked up on Annie's behavior.
Wanting to be alone to her thoughts, Annie finishes her pancakes as fast as she could and got up to leave. "Finished already?" Fredrick asked from his chair at the head of the table. "I'm not very hungry" She replied with an edge in her voice. Picking up on it, the majority of the table watched as she left the dining room. Fredrick, Riley, and Happy turned to Ever, who only shrugged his shoulders.
The rest of the meal was pretty quite. After everyone had finished and Melanie had finished cleaning up the dishes, she heading for the dining room door when Grim suddenly entered.
"We need to talk" Grim said. He closed the door gently behind him and locked it. "Um, what about?" Melanie asked. "My friend, Malinda" Grim said solemnly. Melanie tensed up "The one that went missing?"
"And still is" Grim added. "Not surprising due the circumstances of her disappearance" Melanie furrowed her brow. "What circumstances?"
"I neglected to tell you before" Grim said quietly. "The night she went missing, she had gone into the washroom for a shower" Grim continued, starting to slowly walk toward Melanie. "Almost immediately after she entering the washroom, my spikey haired friend barged in, needing to use it. Before I could say anything, he walked into the washroom. I rushed over, only to find Ever was the only person in the washroom and the window that wasn't opened before was now opened" Grim was now standing directly in front of Melanie, staring into her eyes.
"Melanie, I need your help with something"
