"Wow, this is great!" Ever exclaimed, taking a bite of something from his plate. "What kind of meat is this again?"
I believe it's pork, but you would have to ask the chef to be sure" Fredrick told him.
It was dinnertime, and everyone was in the dinning room eating. It was pretty bare besides a window with red curtains, opposite the entrance, and a door leading to the kitchen, which was to the right of the window. In the middle of the room there was a large oak table that fit ten people, four on the sides and one on each end. On the entrance end of the table was Monsieur Fredrick, on his left were Ever, Anne, and Grim. Melanie (after serving everyone and making sure everything was to their tastes) sat in the chair opposite of Fredrick. To her left were three other hotel guests. The one sitting opposite of Grim was a girl named Riley. With her long brown hair and blue eyes, she could have been Anne's sister. On Riley's right was a guy with shoulder length brown hair and golden eyes, he also had blue rabbit ears.
"So Riley, are you sheltering from the rain as well?" Anne asked as she took a bite of her mashed potatoes.
"Actually, me and Happy are coming back from a long deserved vacation" Riley said, gesturing to the guy with the bunny ears.
"Oh, so are you two are a couple?" Anne inquired. Riley starting chewing on her corn on the cob, pretending that she didn't hear the question. Anne looked to Happy for an answer, but he was to busy stuffing his face to care about the conversation.
"What happened to the guy who was sitting here last night?" the girl across from Ever asked, pointing to the empty chair between her and Happy. She had long black hair and red eyes, she also had a broken mask covering the right side of her face.
Fredrick and Melanie exchanged glances. "He checked out early this morning, Madam Phan" Fredrick explained.
"Wait, Phan? What kind of name is that?" Ever sneered. "And what's with the red eyes and mask, are you some sort of demon?" Ever likes to joke with people sometimes, but people who don't know him well enough don't know that.
"What kind of face is that? Are you some sort of pig?" Phan shot back. Fredrick shrank into his chair, looking nervously between Ever and Phan.
While those two shot death stares at each other, Anne turned to Grim and noticed that he had barely eaten anything.
"What's the matter Grim? You would have been helping yourself to another plateful by now" Anne said with concern.
"Huh?" Grim said, looking down at his plate. "Is there something wrong with the food?" Melanie asked. "Oh no no no no, it's nothing like that" Grim exclaimed defensively. "I'm just not hungry is all"
Anne stared at Grim wide-eyed as he poked at his mashed potatoes. 'But anytime is meal time for Grim!' Anne thinks to herself. 'Him not being hungry is unthinkable'
"Well, you can at least try to eat, our chef put his soul into that dish, as of every meal" Melanie said, snapping Anne out of her thoughts.
"Yeah Grim, don't waste your food" Ever said. That's when he noticed the empty chair between Grim and Melanie.
"Hey, why isn't Malinda down here eating with us?" Ever asked with a frown.
Grim froze. "Um, she felt sick and decided not to come down" Grim said, stuffing his face with pork to avoid any more questions. Ever didn't look convinced, but didn't inquire further.
Anne watched Grim eat and grew more suspicious. 'For a guy who just said he wasn't hungry, he's scarfing that down like it's a contest' Anne thought to herself as she watched Grim finish his pork and start on his mashed potatoes.
"Who's Malinda?" Phan asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Ever's girlfriend" Anne said with a smirk. "It's not like that" Ever said a mouth full of mashed potatoes. "Then why do I have a picture of you two kissing at the library?" Anne said, nudging Ever with her elbow. "You mean there's a girl out there who actually wants to kiss this guy?" Phan asked, watching Ever shove a giant forkful of mashed potatoes into his mouth. "Shut up" Ever growled, some mashed potatoes flying from his mouth across the table. "Say it don't spray it, you animal" Phan told him.
Anne turned away from them to get the spray bottle she had hidden under her chair, and noticed Grim was out of his seat and walking toward the door. "Where are you going Grim?" Anne called out to him. Grim stopped walking and said nothing for a second. "I'm going to check on Malinda" he said, continuing toward the door.
"For someone who said he wasn't hungry, you sure packed it in" Melanie commented, eyeing Grim's empty plate. "You should see me at McDonalds" Grim responded. As he reached for the doorknob, Ever called out to him. "Hold up a second Grim"
"Yeah Ever?"
"If anything happens to Malinda, you're as good as dead"
"Y-yeah, got it" Grim stammered. "Catch you later guys" Grim said as he closed the door, not waiting for a reply

"You're turn Ever" Anne said walking out of the washroom.
"About time..." He muttered as he got up from the bed.
It was two hours after dinner, and Ever and Anne were getting ready for bed. After getting into a big argument, then another one over a rock paper scissors match, Anne had won the bed for the night. Anne sat down on the bed, wondering about Grim's strange behavior at dinner. 'Grim said that he wasn't hungry , but contradicted himself almost immediately after. What's he trying to hide from us?'
Ever stumbled out of the washroom gasping for breathe, snapping Anne out of here thoughts. "Oh good god, save me!" Ever sputtered, falling to his knee's and grabbing his throat. "Ever what happened?" Anne cried, rushing to his side. "Dammit Anne, what did you eat...?" Ever coughed.
Anne immediately stopped comforting Ever and narrowed her eyes at him. "Are you freaking kidding me?"
Ever coughed a few more times. "It smells like a serial killer stored his bodies in there for months on end" Then, he dramatically fell onto his stomach and rolled over onto his back, breathing heavily. "Please... open a window..." He wheezed.
Anne rolled her eyes and walked over to the window. She decided to open it just a crack because the storm was still raging outside. She moved the curtains to open the window when she spotted two figures outside. One was poking around in the bushes while the other waited impatiently. 'Who would be out in such a storm?' nne pondered as she watched the first figure give up and run toward the other. There was a flash a lightening, the identities of the figures were revealed. It was only for a brief moment but there was no mistake, Melanie and Grim were outside in the storm.
