Chapter One Hundred & Ten: Meeting The Biological Aunt
Luna's Pov
I'm not sure what happened. I'm not even sure how long I was out for. Maybe a few minutes or hours.
I was slowly coming back. My eyes fluttered open, a bright light coming into view, making me close my eyes.
When the slight pain went away, I reopened my eyes and they were fully open.
I tried sitting up but my body didn't move and I could feel a headache coming in.
What the hell happened?
And where the hell am I?
"Guys, she's awake" I heard Bree say.
Slowly gaining some energy, I sat up from the bed, bringing my hand up to my forehead and rubbing it since I could feel the pain there.
I looked around to take in my surroundings to see that I was in my room, lying in my bed.
I then saw that the others were here, huddled around my bed. Dad was sitting next to me on the right side and Chase sitting next to me on the left.
The others were standing off to the side, looking at me in worry.
"Sweetheart, thank goodness you're awake" Chase softly said.
He wrapped his arms around my shoulders and pulled me closer to his side.
I sighed and kissed his cheek and snuggled closer to his side, enjoying his warmth.
"Bubba" I whispered, looking up at him.
"I'm here, sweetheart. I'm here" Chase softly said, a small smile appearing on his face.
The others walked closer to my bed as dad scooted closer to me.
I looked at him and smiled, making him smile as he placed his hand on my shoulder.
"Pumpkin, are you ok?" Dad asked, worried.
"I'm fine. Other than a headache" I shrugged.
Dad and the others all sighed in relief, Chase placing a kiss to my cheek.
"Can someone tell me what happened?" I asked, looking at everyone in the room.
To my confusion, they all glanced at each other, worry written across their faces as they were unsure of what to tell me.
"What's wrong? Did something happen?" I asked.
"Sweetheart, you fainted and have been out for a few hours. It's already the afternoon" Chase said.
"Ok, but that doesn't explain why I fainted in the first place? And I want to know what the hell is wrong?" I asked.
Seriously, why the hell are they beating around the bush?
Is there something they don't want to tell me and that's why they're acting like this?
"Sweetheart, read this" Chase said, handing me a letter.
I raised an eyebrow at him and took the letter and began scanning it.
However, as soon as I was finished realization dawned on me as my eyes widened and my skin grew pale.
Now I remember. I remember why I fainted in the first place. Everything was soon coming back to me that I dropped the letter on my lap.
I was about to faint again when dad and Chase steadied me, keeping me from fainting.
Bree quickly walked over to me and handed me a glass of water.
I nodded at her in thanks and began drinking the water, taking big gulps because I felt really dehydrated for some reason.
When I was done, I handed the cup back to Bree who quickly took it.
"You remember, don't you" Leo softly said.
I looked at him and nodded, swallowing a lump in my throat.
"Ok, I'm just gonna say it. That letter is bullshit" Alexis angrily spat.
"Alexis!" everyone, minus dad, yelled at her.
"What? That's what we were all thinking" Alexis said.
"I have to agree" Dad nodded.
"Donny-" Douglas started but dad cut him off.
"No, Alexis is right. This letter is nothing but lies. Whoever this Emily person is must be lying because last time we checked the only biological family Luna has were Krane and Elizabeth. But they're both dead" Dad angrily explained.
I mean, that was true.
Krane was my biological father, he doesn't even deserve that title, he's nothing but my sperm donor.
Good thing he's dead.
Elizabeth Monroe Walker was my biological mother. And just like Krane she's dead too.
I snapped out of my thoughts when Alexis snatched the letter from my lap and looked at me.
"Don't tell me you believe anything this letter says. It's filled with lies" Alexis said.
"I...I don't know" I said.
"Luna, whoever this Emily chick is she has to be lying. For all we know she could be someone that used to work for Krane. Krane must've kept her hidden from us so we wouldn't know anything about her. And now that he's dead she's probably trying to use this to lure you to her and get revenge" Alexis explained.
"There's no way she worked for him. The only one that worked for him was Douglas" Chase said.
"Yeah and he never once mentioned someone named Emily" Douglas said.
"That's the whole point. Why would he want you to know? He probably never wanted you knowing something like that in case you ever betrayed him or something, he'd want her to be kept a secret" Alexis explained.
I'm seriously unsure of how to feel at the moment.
Part of me wants to believe Alexis. Part of me wants to believe that this Emily person is lying and most likely worked for Krane and wants revenge since Adam, Bree and Chase killed him.
But...another part of me believes that this Emily person is telling the truth.
That she's really my aunt, my biological aunt and that she's my mother's sister.
I want to believe that I really have a living family member. That after all these years I have a living family member that's out there.
My mother is dead. Krane is dead. I thought that since they were both dead I was officially an orphan, which in a way is still true.
But finding out that I could have a possible aunt is truly shocking. This is probably more shocking than when we found out Douglas is Adam, Bree and Chase's father.
"Look, real or not this letter is going in the trash" Dad said.
He snatched the letter from Alexis and got up to dump it in the trash when I quickly snatched it away from him.
"No!" I yelled, gaining everyone's attention.
"What do you mean no?" Dad asked, confused.
"I said what I said. No" I sternly said.
Everyone looked at each other before looking back at me with a confused look in their eyes.
"Luna, please don't tell me that you believe what this letter says" Nick said.
"A little" I whispered, rubbing the back of my neck.
Everyone gave me looks of disbelief and my cheeks turned red.
"Luna, you can't be serious right now" Adam said, wrapping an arm around Alexis's shoulders.
"Pumpkin, for all we know this women worked for Krane when he was still alive. She's probably using this as a trap to lure you to her. She can't be trusted" Dad angrily said.
"I know that, trust me I do. But what if what she wrote in this letter is real? What if she's real too? What if she's telling the truth?" I asked.
"I doubt it" I heard Leo mutter under his breath.
I glared at him and held in a chuckle when Douglas smacked him upside the head.
"Pumpkin, for all we know she's lying. There's no way she's your biological aunt, your mother didn't have a sister" Dad said.
"We don't know anything about my mother! I don't know anything about her! The only damn thing I do know about her is her name and the fact that Krane killed her because she gave me up to protect me!" I angrily snapped.
Dad flinched at my outburst, along with everyone else.
I closed my eyes and took a few deep breaths, wanting to relax myself before I do something I'll regret.
I sighed and reopened my eyes and looked at dad.
"Dad, I know that you're worried that this woman could be lying and would want to hurt me, but you need to understand that I can protect myself. I know how to defend myself. And if Emily is telling the truth, I need to meet her. I need to know what she knows" I softly but sternly said.
I don't want to get my hopes up in case this is all lies.
But I also don't want to miss the opportunity to get to know Emily, if she is my real aunt, and know more about my past.
I got up from my bed and walked over to dad. I stood in front of him and gently grabbed his hand.
"Dad, please. If this woman is telling the truth, I need to meet her. I deserve answers" I softly said.
I understand why dad is acting this way. He thinks this could all be a trap and doesn't want me getting hurt.
But if this isn't a trap, I need to meet Emily and get to know her and get some answers from her.
I looked at my dad with a pleading look in my eyes. Begging him to let me do this. To let me go see Emily.
He saw the look in my eyes and sighed, nodding his head.
"Alright. If this is something you want to do, I won't stop you. You deserve answers and I'm not going to stop you from getting them" Dad softly said.
I smiled brightly at that and quickly hugged him. He sighed and hugged me back.
"Thank you, dad. I love you" I whispered.
"I love you too, pumpkin" Dad whispered, kissing my head.
The Next Day
Today was the day.
Today was the day that I would meet my biological aunt.
And hopefully get more answers about my mother, and maybe even find out what she was like and what she looked like.
I obviously don't remember what she looks like since she was killed when I was just a baby.
I really wish I got to meet her, but she's gone. My mother is gone and I can't do anything to bring her back.
Although dad let me go, he said that Chase had to go with me.
I didn't mind, I wanted some moral support and as much as I wanted dad to come with me, it was probably for the best he stayed.
Knowing him, he would've let his anger get the best on him and lashed out on my biological aunt.
And that's the last thing I want.
I want answers, and if this Emily says that she's really my biological aunt, I need to know more about my mother.
So, right now me and Chase are in dad's car, driving to the location Emily gave us.
And can I just say that I'm nervous as hell right now.
Why am I so nervous? I'm hardly ever nervous.
Maybe it's because after 18 years I found out about my past. I find out who my biological parents are.
I find out that my biological father was a power hungry maniac that wanted to take over the world and get rid of anyone that would stand in his way. And I find out that he never gave a damn about me and only wanted to turn me into a bionic solider when I was just baby.
I find out that my biological mother was a scientist like dad, that she figured out bionics and planted a chip in me when I was just a baby. And I find out that she loved me so much she gave me up to protect me and got killed because of it.
Those two were what I thought was shocking out of everything.
But I was dead wrong.
Because I find out that I have a biological aunt. I have a living family member and I never about her until now.
"Sweetheart, are you ok?" Chase softly asked.
I sighed and turned my head around to look at my boyfriend.
"I'm honestly not sure. I'm not sure what to feel or think about any of this, bubba" I said.
"Sweetheart, believe me when I say that all of this is shocking for not only you but everyone else" Chase said.
"I know" I sighed.
"Sweetheart, I know that you're nervous and that's ok. Everyone gets nervous at one point in their lives. But understand that this is something you need to do. You need to know more about your mother after learning that Krane killed her. You deserve to know more about her and Emily is the only one that can give you those answers"Chase softly explained.
Damn, he was right, like always.
Despite how I'm feeling, I deserve to know more about my mother.
I deserve to know what she looked like, what she did in her life before dying.
And I need to know what the hell she ever saw in someone like freaking Krane.
If this Emily is telling the truth about being my aunt, nothing is going to stop me from getting the answers I need.
"You're right, bubba. No matter what, I need to know more about my past. Sure, I got some information out of Krane, but that's not enough. I know about him, but I barely know anything about my mother other than her name and that she was a scientist. Emily is the only person that can give me those answers" I sighed.
Chase smiled softly at me, reaching out to place his hand on top of mine.
"And you'll get them, I know you will. And remember that no matter what happens, I'll be with you every step of the way" Chase softly said.
I smiled softly at him and nodded. I grabbed his hand and brought it up to my mouth, kissing the top of it.
"I love you" I said.
"I love you too" Chase said.
I sighed and leaned more into my seat. All I had to do was just wait before we get where we need to be.
A Few Hours Later
After a few hours of driving, me and Chase finally arrived to the place.
When Chase parked the car, I took time to take a look at the house in front of us.
I had to admit that the place was really pretty. It was big, the colors were nice and the decorations were nice too.
I sighed before taking off my seatbelt and opening the door to get out of the car. Once I was out, I shut the door and walked a bit closer to get a better look.
I took in my surroundings. So far everything looked normal, but you can never be too careful.
I felt Chase's presence next to me. He gently slid his hand into mine, snapping me out of my thoughts.
"Are you ready?" Chase softly asked.
"Ready as I'll ever be" I sighed.
Chase gave my hand a gentle squeeze, something that I was really grateful for, before we began walking to get to the front door.
When we were at the door, I took a few deep breaths before bringing my hand up and knocking a few times.
Me and Chase stood there, waiting for someone to open the door, specifically Emily since this is her house. At least we hope.
Because if this actually was a prank, I'll find whoever wrote that letter and beat them up.
We were both startled when the door opened and we looked up to see who it was.
It was a boy. He had hazel eyes, curly brown hair and I could guess that his height was 5'9.
He looked older, maybe near his twenties. He wore a black blazer, white shirt, black pants and black shoes.
"Hi, can I help you?" the boy asked, raising an eyebrow at us.
Me and Chase glanced at each other before looking back at him. I cleared my throat and sent him a small polite smile.
"Uh, hi. I'm looking for Emily Walker. She sent me a letter telling me to meet her here" I said.
As soon as I said that his eyes widened in realization, and for some reason I can see sadness in them too. As if he wanted to cry.
"Are you...are you Luna Walker?" the boy asked.
"Uh, yes, I am. This is my boyfriend, Chase Davenport" I said, nodding at Chase's direction.
Chase didn't say anything, he just nodded his head, scooting closer to my side.
The boy didn't pay any attention to him. He was busy staring at me with a longing look. I had to admit that I was getting uncomfortable.
I opened my mouth to say something before he extended his hand for me to shake. Reluctantly, I shook his hand.
"It's nice to finally meet you, Luna. I'm Kevin Walker. My mother is Emily Walker" the boy, Kevin, said.
As soon as he said his name and who his mother was, mine and Chase's eyes widened and our jaws dropped.
Don't fucking tell me...?
"Does that mean you're my-" I started but he cut me off.
"Yes, I'm your cousin" Kevin nodded.
What the freaking hell?
Not only do I have an aunt, but now I have a cousin, are you freaking kidding me?
"Uh...is your mother here? I really, uh, need to talk to her?" I asked, rubbing the back of my neck.
"Yes, she's here. Come in, come in" Kevin said, urging us to come inside.
Me and Chase reluctantly entered the house, once we were in Kevin closed the door behind us.I swear I could feel him staring at me even with my back turned.
I began looking at the inside of the house and just like the outside of it, everything was nice.
"Wait here and I'll go get her. She's in her room" Kevin said.
Me and Chase nodded and with that he walked off to get Emily.
When he was gone I turned to look at Chase, only to see that he was still in shock, trying to process what we just learned.
"What the hell? Not only do I have an aunt, but now I have a cousin too. What's next? Do I have grandparents?" I asked.
This was all too much. I seriously don't know what to think about all of this.
I was semi alright when learning that I had an aunt. But learning that I also have a cousin wasn't something I was prepared for.
Chase noticed my nervousness and gently cupped the sides of my face.
"Sweetheart, don't worry, everything's going to be ok. I promise that you'll get your answers soon" Chase softly said.
"But...how the hell can I be calm over something like this? I learned that I not only have an aunt, but also a cousin. Like come on, that's too much to handle" I said.
Before I could ramble on even more, Chase quickly leaned forward and cupped the sides of my face and closed the distance between us, his lips pressed against mine.
I let out a small squeal of surprise, but that soon went away as I melted into the kiss.
I began kissing him back, wrapping my arms around his waist and closing my eyes.
I swear everytime he kisses me, I always calm down. It feels like it's just me and him. Nobody else but us. And I love every single moment of it.
We slowly pulled away, needing to catch our breath.
We were both panting quietly, our cheeks red, our lips slightly swollen and our foreheads pressed against each others.
"Calm down, sweetheart. I promise that when Emily comes, you'll get your answers and everything will make sense soon. I promise" Chase softly said.
I didn't answer that. I settled with just smiling at him and placing a gentle kiss to his nose.
Chase chuckled softly and pecked me on the lips, making me smile even more.
We heard footsteps and pulled away from each other, but we slid our hands back into each other.
When we turned around, we saw Kevin again, but he wasn't alone.
A woman, who I guess is Emily, was with him. She had long brown hair, brown eyes and my guess had the height of 5'7.
She wore a black blazer, a short blue dress that stopped at her knees and black heels. She looked absolutely beautiful.
Emily hadn't said anything to me. She was staring at me with wide eyes and jaw drop. Then tears gathered in her eyes and streamed down her cheeks.
"Luna? Is that really you?" Emily asked, taking a few steps towards me.
I nervously gulped but before I could even say anything she beat me to it.
"Oh who am I kidding, of course you're Luna. You look exactly like your mother" Emily said, walking more closer.
I seriously felt my forehead begin to sweat. I didn't even know what to say to that.
But before I could even say a single word, she lunged forward and wrapped her arms around me in a tight hug.
I was startled, I seriously didn't expect that. And I sure as hell didn't know what to do, because even if she is my aunt, I barely know her.
I didn't hug her back, I just let her hug onto me with all her might, as if she was afraid I would disappear.
I'm not sure if it was rude to not hug her, but can you blame me when I barely know the woman. I literally only found out about her through the letter she sent me.
Emily must've realized I was uncomfortable and quickly pulled away. I quietly sighed in relief before taking a good look at the woman. Her eyes were red, her cheeks were puffy and tears were still streaming down her cheeks.
"I'm sorry about that. I shouldn't have done that" Emily said, wiping her tears away.
"No, no, it's fine. I get it. You don't need to apologize" I softly said, not wanting to be mean.
"It's just, you remind me so much of your mother that it hurt" Emily softly said, no longer crying but there were tear streaks on her cheeks.
My breath hitched at that and I tried my best to remain calm.
Did I really look like my mother?
"I didn't know you had a son" I said, not knowing what to say.
"Oh, yes I do" Emily nodded.
"Where is he?" Chase asked.
"He just left, he had plans to meet up with some friends" Emily said.
"Do you have any other kids?" I asked, not sure how I'd feel if I had more than one cousin.
"No, just Kevin" Emily softly said, shaking her head.
I nodded at that and played with my fingers. I didn't know what else to do. I was still trying to process everything.
"How about we head to the living room and sit down? We've got lots to talk about" Emily said.
"Sure, that sounds good" Chase said, moving closer to my side.
I nodded and with that the three of us walked into the living room to sit down. Me and Chase sat down on the couch while Emily sat down on a nearby couch chair.
Before she could say anything, I beat her to it.
"I'm sorry if this is going to come off as rude, but are you really my biological aunt or are you lying?" I asked.
I wanna get straight to the point. No beating around the bush or anything, I need to know the truth.
To my slight surprise, Emily giggled at that and shook her head.
"Getting straight to the point, just like your mother" Emily said with a small sad smile.
Damn, I really did inherit almost everything from my mother.
Thank lords I got nothing from Krane.
"To answer your question, yes, I am your biological aunt. Your mother was my sister" Emily said.
Me and Chase glanced at each other before looking back at her.
"How do I know you're not lying?" I asked.
As much as I wanted to believe that she really was my biological aunt, I still need some proof so I know she's telling the truth.
I still have doubts and I just want them to go away but for that to happen I need solid proof.
Emily sighed and gently ran her hand through her hair. She looked at me with a soft look in her eyes.
"I'll tell you everything. I promise that everything will make sense, but please just hear me out and let me explain" Emily softly said.
Chase reached over to grab my hand and gave it a gentle squeeze.
I looked at him and smiled. I sighed before looking back at Emily and nodded.
"Tell me, everything" I said.
Emily sighed and nodded. She clapped her hands together and placed them on top of her lap.
"First, let me start by introducing myself. As you know, I'm Emily Walker, your mothers sister" Emily said.
"It's nice to meet you, Emily. Especially in person. I'm Luna Walker Davenport. My adopted father is Donald Davenport, and this is my boyfriend" I said.
I nodded towards Chase, who looked at Emily and flashed her a small nervous smile.
"It's nice to meet you" Chase said, extending his hand for her.
Emily flashed him a small smile and shook his hand.
"Nice to meet you" Emily softly said.
They both nodded at each other before pulling away. Emily sighed and gently ran her hand through her hair.
"Now, I'm going to start from the beginning. From when your mother met, Krane" Emily said.
She spat out Krane's name like it was a disease. She said his name with so much anger and disgust that I had to keep myself from laughing.
Good to know she hates him as much as I do.
"Your mother met Krane in college. It was her first day and she happened to encounter him first. He showed her around and soon they became friends. After months of being friends they started going on dates, and then he asked her to officially be his girlfriend and your mother said yes. She was happy and he was happy too" Emily explained.
Emily sighed and shook her head, an angry look in her eyes.
"But things began to change. He started to change" Emily said.
"Change how?" Chase asked.
"He became possessive of her. He would never allow her to go anywhere without him. She had to wear the clothes he picked for her. And he made her stop hanging out with her friends. He was completely controlling her life" Emily explained.
I gritted my teeth in anger and clenched my fist.
Looks like Krane didn't tell me the full truth. But what the hell could I have expected when this is Krane we're talking about.
Chase gently placed his hand on top of mine, trying to clam me down.
It worked and I took a few deep breaths to control my anger. When I felt calm enough, I turned to look at him and smiled softly.
I sighed before looking back at Emily, only to see her smiling softly at us.
"Sorry, continue" I said.
"It's fine, don't worry. Anyways, I started to realize that their relationship was becoming unhealthy and talked to Elizabeth about it. I begged for her to call it quits with him but she refused. She said that she loved him and he was only looking out for her. She was so naive" Emily explained, sighing.
What I don't understand is why she dated him in the first place?
Who cares if he was somewhat decent in the beginning, he turned into a maniac in the end.
"I thought that when they got married he would've changed for the better, but I was wrong. She came over to my house one night and told me that she had discovered something amazing that she couldn't share with anyone else. She told me she discovered bionics. At first I was confused, until she explained it more to me and I was amazed that she discovered something so amazing" Emily explained.
Me and Chase glanced at each other before looking back at Emily.
"I was stupid to think she would just keep something like this between us. But I was wrong because she ended up telling Krane about it. And because of it he became worse and worse. The idea of bionics fascinated him way too much. Almost as if he became obsessed with it" Emily explained.
"Tell me about it" I whispered to Chase, who nodded.
"When Elizabeth created her first bionic chip, Krane wanted to test it on someone rather than something. He turned down Elizabeth's idea, wanting to use a robot, he said he wanted to use it on humans. I told her that it was a bad idea, and she agreed that it was, but in the end Krane got to her and managed to convince her to use it on a human" Emily explained.
"Yeah, me" I bitterly said.
I wasn't angry at Emily or my mother for that matter.
I was angry at Krane for getting to my mother and convincing her to put a bionic chip in my neck when I was just a baby.
Emily looked at me and I saw guilt in her eyes.
"I'm sorry, Luna. I tried my hardest to convince my sister not to put the chip in you, I tried to tell her that it was an insane idea for her to put a bionic chip on her own daughter, but she took Krane's side and did it anyway. At that point I was close on giving up on her because of all the times she took Krane's side and not mine" Emily explained.
I frowned at that and shook my head.
"It's not your fault. And it's not my mother's fault either. The only one to blame is Krane" I softly said.
Emily smiled softly at me and nodded, making me release a small smile.
"Anyways, one night she came over and told me that Krane had gone insane. She said that he was thinking of turning you into a bionic soldier. I was shocked and angry. How could he ever think of turning his own daughter into a bionic soldier, did he not realize that you were just a baby at the time" Emily angrily said.
"No, because he only cares about himself" I scoffed, rolling my eyes.
Chase scooted closer to my side and wrapped an arm around my shoulder, pulling me to his side.
I sighed and snuggled into him, kissing his hand.
I looked at Emily, only to see her smiling at us, yet again.
"What else did she say that night?" Chase asked.
"I was shocked when she said that she had enough of Krane and wasn't going to go through with his idea. For the first time in forever she finally realized that Krane was doing wrong. She finally opened her eyes and realized he was completely messed up in the head. She told me that you were more important to her than he was, and I have to tell you that made me more happy than ever" Emily explained, smiling.
Despite already knowing this, I couldn't stop the smile appearing on my face.
It made me really happy that my mother chose me over Krane. That she didn't agree with him when he wanted to turn me into a bionic soldier.
It shows how much she really loved me and wanted me to be safe.
Chase took notice of my smile and smiled back, placing a kiss to my temple, making me giggle.
"Continue, please" I said, turning to Emily.
"She told me that when Krane was sleeping she would take you out of the house and we would run away together, somewhere where Krane wouldn't find us" Emily said.
She sighed and ran her hands through her hair, sadness flashing over her eyes.
"If only I had known she had a different plan in mind" Emily sighed.
I raised an eyebrow at her, Chase doing the same, the both of us looking at her in confusion.
"What do you mean?" Chase asked.
"I hadn't realized that she had no intention of bringing you to me. That night I waited for her to come with you so we would run. But she never showed up. I waited for hours and hours but she never came. I didn't want to wait anymore so I left and went over to look for her. However, when I got there I was met with police and an ambulance by their house. The cop explained to me that a neighbor called when he heard screaming from inside" Emily explained.
She turned her head the other way, biting her lip as her eyes slowly turned red.
"I didn't expect for one of the paramedics to bring out a body bag from the house" Emily said, nearly in a whisper.
I swallowed a small lump in my throat, feeling a bit sick, already knowing what was coming.
Chase noticed this and squeezed my hand tighter.
"It's ok, remember, I'm here" Chase whispered, kissing my cheek softly.
I closed my eyes and took a few deep breaths. When I was calm enough I turn back to Emily.
"Please, tell me what happened next, I need to know what happened to my mother" I said.
Emily looked at me with sad eyes but she nodded either way, knowing that I had the right to know.
"When I told the cops that I was a family member they handed me an ID of the victim's body. I hoped that it was Krane, that your mother was strong enough to fight against him, but I was wrong. Because the ID was your mothers" Emily said.
This time she didn't hold back her tears anymore, she let them come out.
I bit my lip to try and contain mine, Chase squeezing my hand for more comfort.
"Did you see the body?" I asked in a soft voice.
"I did, and I realized why they showed me the ID instead of letting me see my sisters body. Her face was burnt, every inch of it. And her body was covered in bruises and blood. I'm not sure what the hell went down between her and Krane, and I really don't want to know" Emily explained, looking scared.
Mine and Chase's eyes went wide at that. I felt like my oxygen supply was running out.
Krane burnt my mother...?
"Are you sure it was her? Sure, you saw her ID but was there something else that could confirm that it was really her" I softly said.
"Yes. They showed me a bracelet that was on her arm. It was the bracelet I gave her when she graduated high school. That was enough for me to know that it was my sister" Emily explained.
I pressed my lips into a thin line and looked down.
I clenched my fists tightly and bit my lip as hard as I could to stop myself from crying.
Krane burnt my mother.
He burnt my mother. I'm not sure if she was still alive at the time but he burnt my mothers face.
He left her with bruises and made her bleed.
Just imagining her in that state made me sick to my stomach, I felt like throwing up.
I hid my face in Chase's shoulder. He quickly wrapped his arms around me and rubbed my back up and down.
"It's ok, it's ok. I'm here. I'm here, sweetheart" Chase softly whispered in my ear.
I nodded against his shoulder and wrapped my arms around him. I felt him peppering my cheeks with kisses and I could only lean into his touch.
When I felt myself calming down a bit, I slowly pulled away from his embrace.
I looked up at him and smiled.
"Thank you, bubba" I smiled.
"Of course, anything for you" Chase smiled.
He leaned in and gently kissed me on the lips. I smiled and kissed him back before we pulled away.
I sighed and turned around, only to see Emily smiling at us.
I sent her a small smile before shaking my head, wanting to get back on topic.
"What happened after that?" I asked.
"After that I asked the police if you were at the house, but they said they didn't see you when they arrived. They started a search party for you and Krane, but no matter how hard they tried they couldn't find you or Krane. After 2 years of searching they had to stop, assuming that you both were dead" Emily explained.
She rolled her eyes at that and clenched her fist.
"I knew that they weren't going to help because of how long they searched looking for you and how they were unable to find anything. But that didn't mean I was going to stop. I held onto hope that you were still alive. I lost my sister, there was no way I was going to lose my niece too" Emily explained.
I'm not sure why but my heart fluttered just a bit when Emily said 'niece'.
It felt...nice.
"I searched for you. I never stopped searching for you. I even traveled around the world, thinking that Krane had taken you to another country. For years I continued searching for you and didn't rest until I knew you were safe" Emily explained.
She released a small sigh and shook her head.
"So many years had passed and all that searching led me to nowhere. But before I could lose any hope, I saw on the news that four bionic teenagers were revealed to the world. And when I saw you, when I locked my eyes on you, I knew that you were my niece. Everything about you reminded me of Elizabeth" Emily explained.
"But you could've been wrong, I could've been someone else" I said.
"Yeah, with all due respect, how are you so sure Luna is really your niece?" Chase asked.
"I know that you're my niece. Here, this will prove it" Emily said.
She quickly grabbed a picture frame that was near her and handed it to me.
I raised an eyebrow at her before taking the frame and looking at it.
My eyes widened slightly and I looked at Chase, I gestured to the picture and he looked at it. When he saw it his eyes widened as well.
It was a picture of Emily holding a baby. And that baby was me.
I know very well that's me because dad has lots of pictures of me when I was a baby.
He took all those pictures of me as a baby because he wanted to keep them and make a scrapbook. For memory purposes.
I've seen a bunch of my baby pictures to know that the baby in this picture is me.
"It's you, isn't it?" Emily asked, already knowing my answer.
"Yes, yes that's me" I said.
I couldn't believe it. I didn't want to truly believe it.
But it's true. All of it was true.
Emily really is my aunt. She's my mother's sister.
I have an aunt. I have a cousin. I have two living family members.
Emily smiled softly at me and gently took the picture frame from my hands.
"Is this for real?" I asked, nearly in a whisper.
When Emily set the picture frame down she turned back around to look at me.
She smiled softly at me and gently took my hands into hers.
"Yes, I promise that this is all real. I'm your aunt, your mother was my sister" Emily said.
I had no words.
Absolutely no words.
I was shocked, clearly shocked, about everything that was happening right now.
"I don't know what to say. I don't know what to do" I said, trying to fight back tears.
Chase gently rubbed my back, giving me comfort, which I was extremely grateful for.
"It's ok, sweetheart. Everyone goes through similar things like this and they're filled with different emotions" Chase softly said.
"He's right. It's ok to be shocked and it's ok to not know what to do in a situation like this. It's normal" Emily softly said.
I glanced at Chase before looking at Emily.
It took me a few seconds to figure out what I wanted to say before opening my mouth to speak.
I sighed and gently ran my hand through my hair.
"Thank you, Emily. Thank you for continuing to search for me all those years and never giving up on me. I know that we don't know each other that well, but hopefully we can get to know each other from now on" I softly said.
"I never stopped looking for you. I made a promise to Elizabeth that I would find you and wouldn't stop until I knew you were alive and safe. And I look forward to getting to know you too, Luna" Emily smiled.
I found myself smiling back at her, a small smile.
I glanced at Chase, who was smiling softly at me, and smiled at him and leaned in to kiss his cheek.
He pulled me closer to his side and kissed my temple, making me smile and giggle.
We both turned back to Emily and saw her smiling at us, fondness in her eyes.
I opened my mouth to say something but Emily stopped me, raising her hand, almost as if she knew I was going to speak.
She pulled out some paper and glanced at me a few times. She released another sigh before handing me the paper.
I raised an eyebrow at her, confused, before taking the paper from her.
When I took a closer look at it, I realized it wasn't just paper, it was a photo.
And it was of someone I never would've expected.
My eyes widened as I released a gasp. I looked at Chase who was looking at me with wide eyes too.
Is this who I think it is?
I looked back at Emily and saw her smiling softly at me, small tears streaming down her face.
"Is this my mother?" I asked.
I expected her to say no, maybe it was just someone else she knew, a friend perhaps.
But she didn't, instead she nodded her head, the smile still on her face as more tears streamed down her face.
"Yes, it's her" Emily nodded.
My jaw dropped and I looked back down at the photo in my hands. I hadn't even realized that tears were beginning to form in my eyes.
My mother...
I'm actually looking at my mother's face for the first time. I finally know what my mother looks like.
She's so beautiful...
"Oh my gosh" I whispered, more tears streaming down my face.
Emily stood up from where she was sitting and walked over so she was in front of me. She crouched down and gently grabbed my hand.
I looked at her and saw she was smiling softly at me.
"You look so much like your mother. Everything about you reminds me of her. You have her beautiful smile, her beautiful laugh and personality too" Emily softly said.
My lips trembled as Emily gently placed her hand on my cheek.
I leaned into her touch without even knowing it. She gently caressed my cheek and smiled softly at me.
"You're the only thing I have left of her. I promised Elizabeth that as soon as I found you I would make up for those years we lost. And I intend on keeping that promise" Emily softly said.
That did it for me.
I burst into tears and sobs and lunged toward Emily and engulfed her in a tight and desperate hug.
Emily giggled softly and hugged me back. She released a few sobs of her own as she hugged me back tightly, not wanting to let me go.
I may not know much about Emily, but that's going to change soon because I will get the chance to know her.
With time, I'll get to know more about her and slowly warm up to her and my cousin.
Because after all these years, I actually have two living family members.
And I'll make sure I spend enough time with them and get to know them more.
Mom, I hope you're seeing this. Because after 18 years your daughter and sister finally reunited.
