Chapter Fifty-Seven: The Jet Wing

Luna's Pov

I was sitting on the couch with Chase and Bree.

Bree sat on my right side looking at her phone while Chase sat on my left side.

He had an arm wrapped around my shoulder as I rested my head on his chest.

I smiled and snuggled closer to him.

'I missed this' I thought.

I looked over at the kitchen to see Leo and Adam hovering over dad as he tried fixing an invention of his that somewhat managed to survive from the explosion.

While trying to fix it the thing sparked, shocking dad's hand as he winced in pain.

"Great! Everything in the lab is officially useless, and I don't have enough money to repair it" Dad said in annoyance.

"I know my mom didn't marry you for your money, but I haven't been putting with your antics for nothing" Leo said as he walked away.

Dad rolled his eyes as me, Chase and Bree made our way over to them.

"Mr. Davenport, take your time with the lab. I don't mind staying up here" Bree said as she sat on a chair by the counter.

"Of course, it won't make up for living in a basement for sixteen years, but it's a start" Bree said with a smile as Adam nodded.

"Yeah, I don't mind sleeping in the same room as my sweetheart" Chase said while smirking at me, causing me to blush.

"You two better not be doing anything in there" Dad said while pointing a finger at us.

I scoffed and rolled my eyes at him.

"Relax dad, all we do is cuddle when sleeping. Nothing else" I reassured him and he sighed in relief.

"Not yet at least" Chase whispered in my ear.

I shivered at his voice and I heard him let out a small chuckle.

"We don't have time. Your capsules have regenerative capabilities. They're crucial to your bionic infrastructures" Dad explained.

"Huh?" Adam asked in confusion.

"Let me help you" Chase said as he slowly got closer to Adam.

"Capsule, good!" Chase said in a deep voice, causing Adam to nod and for him to roll his eyes while I giggled.

"But I haven't been in my capsule all week, and I feel fine" Bree said.

"Well, it's only a matter of time before your bionics go haywire" Dad said.

"Do you know when exactly? Because I have a haircut on Tuesday and if I glitch in the chair, I'm just gonna end up like that trainwreck" Adam said, gesturing to Chase.

"Adam, there is nothing wrong with Chase's hair" I said while glaring at him.

"I get it! I'm short, I look like a lady golfer, and I have a terrible haircut! What else you got?" Chase asked in annoyance.

"How long do you have?" Adam asked with a smirk.

Bree and Leo laughed while I scoffed and rolled my eyes at him.

"Look, the longer you go without your capsules, the more likely you'll glitch, so don't use your bionics until I can get enough money to rebuild the lab" Dad explained.

"Uh oh, I feel a glitch coming on!" Adam said as he slightly started shaking.

Then he punches Chase's arm.

Chase groaned in pain while Bree and Leo laughed.

"Ow!" Chase said as he gave Adam an annoyed look.

"You know what? I feel one coming on too!" Chase said while glaring at him.

He then shoved Adam off the chair as he fell to the ground.

I smirked and leaned more into him while Bree and Leo laughed.

Adam then got off the floor and glared at Chase.

"Hey, it's not funny when you hurt me. It's just rude" Adam said, looking like he was about to cry.

Adam left the room while Chase continued grinning.

A Few Minutes Later

Soon Tasha came downstairs so now we were all together.

"Okay everybody, family meeting time" Dad said as we all walked into the living room.

I sit on the couch right next to Chase as Adam raised his hand.

"Adam, you don't have to raise to hand to speak, just talk" Dad said.

"Oh, I've got nothing to say, I'm just airing out my pits" Adam said and we all cringed in disgust.

"The reason I called this family meeting is because we have to make some cutbacks in the family budget, starting with losing our cellphones" Dad explained.

All of us gasp and our eyes widened.

He can't be serious.

"Did you not hear me?! I just moved out of the basement! I need this phone!" Bree said and I nodded.

"Yeah, I need my phone too. It's for important reasons" I said.

"Oh really. Like what?" Dad asked.

"Well how else am I going to look at all the photos I have of Chase" I said.

Everyone looked at me weirdly while Chase had a smile on his face but I could also see him blushing.

"You have photos of Chase on your phone?" Leo asked.

"Of course I do. It's kind of like my wall of Chase" I said while shrugging.

Once again they gave me weird looks and all I did was glare at them.

"Oh shut it. If you three had boyfriends or girlfriends you'd do the same as me" I said while pointing at Adam, Bree and Leo.

The three of them looked at each other and nodded.

"I don't get it. Why is this happening?" Adam asked.

"Phone gone! We poor now!" Chase said in his deep voice from earlier, causing Adam to gasp.

"Guys, stop complaining. This is what you do for family. You make sacrifices" Leo said as he stood next to dad.

Dad nodded as he patted his back.

"This goes for you too" Dad said, causing Leo to look at him.

"I barely know you people! I'm keeping my phone" Leo said as he walked away from dad.

Tasha smiled as she got up and stood next to dad.

"Don't worry, Donald and I will be giving up our phones, too" Tasha reassured us.

"Well, you will" Dad said, causing Tasha and I to glare at him.

"Either you give up your phone or I will not hesitate to ruin that pretty little face of yours" I warned him.

"Not my face" Dad said while touching his face.

"You know I'm serious" I said and he nodded.

"Yes mam" Dad nodded, making me smirk even more.

"Look, the sooner we get money, the sooner we can get back to our regular lives. We need cash. Ideas?" Dad asked.

"Ooh, I can make some desserts, and we can have a bake sale" Tasha said with a smile.

"Great, that'll buy us a lamp" Dad said, causing Tasha's smile to fade.

"Hey, why don't you do a stunt like that guy on TV? You know, the one who made a whole bunch of money for walking on a tightrope across the grand canyon" Leo explained.

Hmmm, that's not a bad idea.

"Oh, I see where you're goin' with this. We find that guy and rob him" Adam grinned, causing us to give him a 'what the hell' look.

"Or... Big D can do a similar stunt" Leo said.

"We can't rob Mr. Davenport. He's broke. Were you not listening?" Adam asked.

"That kind of stunt could attract a huge sponsor that would have enough money for us to build a new lab. That's a great idea, Leo" Dad praised him.

"Just give me my cut when you get your money" Leo said as he walked away.

"You know what? I've been working on a prototype fiberglass jet wing that uses two micro-jet engines to allow a human being to fly like an airplane" Dad explained as he picked up his tablet.

"Check it out" Dad said as we all huddled around him to see.

When dad pulled up the design of the jet wing I had to admit that it looked really cool.

"This is it. I, Donald Davenport, will attempt the first ever jet wing flight over Mission Creek" dad grinned as he placed his tablet down.

"Oh, no. I'm not letting my husband do something that dangerous--" Tasha started but he cut her off.

"You could host the exclusive pay-per-view webcast" Dad said.

"Up, up and away!" Tasha grinned as she held up her hands in the air.

"Alright" Dad grinned.

"Are you sure about this? That thing hasn't even been tested" Chase asked in worry.

"I can't let my family suffer anymore" Dad said.

"Then skip the jet wing and give us our phones back" me and Bree said together while high-fiving at the end.

"Look, we need to find sponsors quickly, though" Dad said.

"I'm on it. You're looking at the top donation collector for the school's "Save the Gym" campaign. Four dollars and 16 cents" Leo grinned.

"That's just sad" I said, causing Chase to chuckle.

"Okay. Leo, you can hunt for sponsors" Dad nodded.

"Yeah, we're gettin' our lab back!" Adam grinned.

We all cheered as he got up and raised his arms in the air as we all high-fived him but he stopped us.

"No, you guys, again, just airin' them out" Adam reminded us.

We all cringed in disgust as we backed away from him.

The Next Day

Today was the day of the jet wing and honestly I was nervous.

Part of me wants dad to do this, but the other part me of doesn't want dad to do this.

He could get hurt, or worse if things go wrong.

Not much I can do now is there.

Anyways, I'm in my room right now while putting on some lipstick.

Bree was on my bed fixing her hair.

Her and Adam weren't going to come actually, they're going to the school because apparently Principal Perry needs them for something.

"Man, I wish we didn't have to go to school. I'd rather see the jet wing thing then go help Principal Perry at school" Bree whined.

I giggled and shook my head at her.

"I know it sucks but if you guys hurry and do whatever Principal Perry wants you to do. You can arrive back on time before everything ends" I reassured her.

"Yeah, I guess you're right" Bree said.

I finished putting on the lipstick as I started fixing my jacket up.

"So, what do you think?" I asked her while turning around.

"Oooh, looking good girl. I especially love the shoes" Bree grinned.

"Thanks. I mostly love the jacket" I said with a smile.

I then handed her the lipstick so she could put some on.

"Thanks" Bree said.

"Anytime" I said.

It was quiet for 3 seconds before Bree broke it.

"Hey Luna, can I ask you something? And you don't have to answer if you don't want to" Bree said.

"Sure, what is it?" I asked.

"Do...do you ever think about your real parents?" Bree asked.

I stopped what I was doing as I slowly processed what Bree had just asked me.

Sighing I turned around and slowly made my way over to my bed.

"I...I honestly don't know to be honest. I don't ever really think about them all the time, but when I do I just feel nothing but pain" I said as I sat down on the edge of my bed.

"It sucks not knowing who they are, doesn't it?" Bree softly asked.

"I mean, I guess. But if I'm being honest I don't really care about them" I said.

"Really?" Bree asked in shock.

"Yeah, I mean whoever they are they must've not cared about me since they left me on dad's doorstep with nothing but this necklace. No note or anything" I said.

"Really? No note or anything?" Bree asked and I shook my head.

"Nope, I mean the only thing they left was a piece of paper that had my name on it. Nothing else" I sighed.

"What would you do if you ever met them?" Bree asked.

"Well, I would want to talk to them and just ask them why they left me at dad's doorstep in the first place. I've always wanted to learn the truth about my birth" I said.

"And after that?" Bree asked.

"I'd tell them to go to hell" I shrugged as I got up.

"What, why?" Bree asked.

"Because, I don't want them in my life. No matter what the truth is it's not going to make me leave you guys. You guys are my family, dad is my dad whether he's my biological father or not" I explained.

"Awww Luna" Bree said as she got up from the bed and hugged me.

"You're not only my bestie, you're my sister. Adam and Leo are my brothers, Chase is my boyfriend, dad is my dad and Tasha is my mother" I said as we pulled away from the hug.

"I would never leave you guys" I reassured her.

"I'm glad, because I don't know what I'd do without my sister" Bree said.

I smiled and nodded.

"Now come on, I've gotta get to the jet wing while you and Adam have to get to the school" I said.

Bree groaned and let her head fall back a bit.

"Don't remind me" Bree said in annoyance, causing me to giggle.

"Come on" I said as I grabbed her hand and dragged her out of my room.

At The Jet Wing Launch Site

Everything in the launch site for the jet wing was all set up.

The decorations were ncely set up, along with the table for a few snacks.

Tasha in her professional clothes so she can video all of this.

Chase and Leo were by the controls for when dad has to go all up in the sky.

And there were already enough people here to watch the jet wing, so I think everything is going well so far.

"I still can't believe you only landed one sponsor, Leo" Dad said in annoyance.

"You're lucky I got one. Do you have any idea how hard it is to get a sponsor for an old guy who thinks he can fly?" Leo asked.

"The best you could do was Go-Go Global Pack and Ship? Yep" Dad asked.

"Now you only get paid if you survive. But if you don't, they'll ship your remains to your home state for free. Alaska and Hawaii not included" I explained.

Leo nodded as dad's eyes went wide.

"You're also contractually obligated to say "Go-Go Global Pack and Ship" throughout your flight" Leo said.

"That's gonna be hard for him. He's not used to promoting anything but himself" Chase said, causing me to giggle as Leo nodded.

"All right, two minutes to launch" Leo said.

I walked over to the controls to take my spot next to Chase.

Before I could sit down I could see dad's scared expression.

"Big D, are you okay? You look a little nervous" Leo asked.

"I'm not sure I can do this, Leo" Dad said.

"Of course you can. You're Donald Davenport, and the Donald Davenport I know doesn't let anything get in the way of protecting his family" Leo said and I nodded.

"You're right, Leo. I'm doing this for my family. I got this" Dad said.

Soon Tasha walks over to us.

"Okay, guys, we're about to start the webcast. Tasha Davenport presents, Look Out Below: A Jet-Wing Catastrophe" Tasha said.

"Oh, for--" Dad started but she cut him off.

"It's just for ratings" Tasha said as she walked away.

"Your helmet-cam is up and running. I'll man mission control, and cue you when it's time to release your parachute for the landing" Chase explained

"Okay" Dad nodded.

"Ready to roll, Big D?" Leo asked.

"I can do this. I can do this" Dad said as he put on his helmet and walked over to the middle.

Soon music started playing as Tasha and her camera guy walked over to him as everyone in the audience quieted down.

I took my spot next to Chase as he wrapped an arm around my shoulder.

"The world waits with bated breath, as Donald Davenport, husband of witty, yet personable reporter Tasha Davenport, prepares to launch for the first ever jet-wing flight across Mission Creek" Tasha happily said to the camera.

Everyone started clapping and cheering for dad as he smiled at them,

"Before I launch, I would like to take a moment, maybe longer, and, uh, thank everybody for coming out today. It really means a lot, and I see a lot of familiar faces in the crowd" Dad said while pointing to us then to some people in the crowd.

"And since I have time, I would like to mention you all by name" Dad said.

"Why the hell is he stalling?" I asked in annoyance.

"Doesn't really matter to me. I have the launch button" Leo said, causing me and Chase to nod.

"Cynthia Forrester. Wow! How are the kids?" Dad asked.

Then Leo pressed the launch button as dad was shot into the air as he started screaming while the audience was in awe.

A Few Minutes Later

Everything was going great.

Dad was doing well up in the sky and everyone was loving it so far.

Things were going pretty well so far.

Right now me, Chase and Leo were by the controls as we each had a our own headsets as we were watching dad through the monitors.

"Whoo!" I heard dad yell through my microphone.

"You doin' all right up there, Big D?" Leo asked.

"Yeah, I don't know what I was worried about. This is awesome" Dad said as a grin appeared on his face.

"But not as awesome as the low, low prices at Go-Go Global Pack and Ship" Dad said and I giggled.

"We are gonna make a fortune. Tons of people are tuning into the live webcast" I said and Chase nodded.

"Of course they are. I'm amazing. But not as amazing as shipping your valuables with Go-Go Global Pack and Ship" Dad said.

I smiled as I laid my head on Chase's shoulder.

"Alright, enough coasting. It's time for some extreme free styling. All right, world, let's slather up this stunt with some Davenport butter" Dad grinned.

Soon he boosted himself more into the air and i was getting worried.

I could see that Chase was the same as me.

"Mr. Davenport, I wouldn't–" Chase started but was cut off.

"Whoa, turbulence!" Dad yelled as he started moving around in the air.

My eyes widened when I saw his parachute drop and fall out of the sky as an alarm went off.

"What was that?" Dad asked.

"That was your parachute" Chase said.

"Aah!" Dad screamed.

"Not to worry. You'll be fine for the moment. You'll just continue at jet speed until your wings run out of jet fuel" Chase explained.

Me and Leo looked at him nervously as Leo covered his microphone.

"What happens then?" Leo asked.

Chase looked over at us with a nervous smile.

"Then he'll crash" Chase said while fidgeting with his fingers.

Mine and Leo's eyes widened as we looked back over to dad to see that he was nervous as well.

"Oh, no. I'm gonna fall. Faster than the prices at Go-Go Global Pack and Ship" Dad said while slightly crying.

After a few minutes we tried coming up with a way to get dad back down here safely but we haven't thought of anything yet.

Soon Tasha walked over with her camera guy.

"Famed reporter Tasha Davenport here, bringing you one of the most tense moments in television history. A live jet wing crash!" Tasha slightly grinned.

"We have exclusive access to mission headquarters, where I'm sure they have everything under control" Tasha said as she walked over to us.

The camera guy placed the camera on us as Chase lifted his head up and looked nervous.

"We're, uh... We're mulling our options" Chase said and I nodded.

Tasha's smile faltered as she gave us a small glare as she covered her microphone with her hand.

"Mulling your options? That is my husband up there" Tasha said.

"Hello. Somebody needs to come up with a solution fast. There is jet fuel leaking inside my flight suit" Dad said.

Then a few seconds later he shakes his head.

"Nope, not jet fuel" Dad said and I shuddered in disgust.

"This is all my fault. I had the idea of sending him up there" Leo said while looking up at the sky.

"No argument here" I said.

Leo looked back down to glare at me while Chase chuckled.

"Mr. Davenport, we're just gonna have to use our bionic--" Chase started but stopped as he looked up and realized the camera guy was still there and recording.

"Hi" Chase quickly said with a nervous smile.

"Chase, you can't show the world your bion--" Leo started but I punched his shoulder and pointed to the camera.

"Hi!" Leo quickly said.

Tasha quickly guided the camera guy to the other side just in case.

"Stop saying bion-a-hi, call Adam and Bree, and get me out of the sky!" Dad yelled.

"Well, we'd love to, but someone took away our cell phone service" Leo said, causing me and Chase to nod.

"Really? Guilt? Now?" Dad asked in annoyance.

"Alright dad, just calm down" I said as I took off the headset.

"Me and Leo will get to school and get Adam and Bree" I said and Leo nodded.

"Keep his hopes up" Leo said and I nodded.

We quickly ran away from the site and once we were nowhere near the audience I quickly grabbed Leo's hand and geo-leaped us to the school.

We ended up in the cafeteria and Leo stumbled back a bit.

"Ok, next time use your superspeed. Geo-leaping is still not my thing" Leo said.

I scoffed and rolled my eyes as we ran out of the cafeteria to the hallway.

Then all of a sudden Principal Perry ran to me and Leo.

"Ah, Dooley, Walker, help" Principal Perry said as she hid behind me and Leo, mostly me.

"The machines are turning against us. We've gotta get my cats, and make for my bunker in Sacramento" Principal Perry said.

I turned around and saw Bree superspeeding into the lockers and then superspeeding into a pole.

"Adam, what is going on?" I asked.

"We've been using our bionics for Perry all day and now we're glitching" Adam said.

"I am starting to think that Mr. Davenport was right about our capsules" Bree said as she nearly fell to the ground but Adam caught her.

"Okay, okay, okay. Everybody focus. There's an emergency. Big D needs you" Leo said.

"Ooh, that's good. Use him as bait so us humans can get away" Principal Perry said.

I rolled my eyes at her as me and Leo managed to pry her off of us.

"They're not machines. And my dad needs their help, or he's a goner" I said and Leo nodded.

"What? No, he can't be a goner. Don's my cash cow, and I'm not done milking him yet" Principal Perry said as me and Leo looked at her weirdly.

"We gotta get there fast. Saddle up, Bessie" Principal Perry said as she ran over to Bree and tried getting on her back, but failed.

"You know what? What do you say we all just run?" Bree suggested.

We all nodded and quickly ran out of the school, leaving Principal Perry behind.

We stopped at a place to shield Adam's head because his heat vision was acting up.

We made it back to the jet wing site as we walked over to Chase who was still by the controls.

"Okay, Okay, we've got some serious problems. Adam's heat vision's glitching out, Bree's bouncing off the walls" I explained and Leo nodded.

"And I saw Principal Perry's bare feet. And can I just say--" Leo started, only to cover his eyes as he screamed.

Chase gave him a weird look before looking at Adam.

"What's on his face?" Chase asked.

"It's a hubcap. It's the only thing I could find that would shield my heat vision" Adam said.

Then I could hear his heat vision firing inside of his hubcab as Adam winced in pain.

"Ow! Ow! Ow! Ow! Ow!" Adam winced.

I grabbed my headset and placed it back on so I could hear what dad was saying

"Chase, I can't keep circling above you. I'm almost out of fuel. What's the plan?" Dad asked.

"I'm working on it" Chase said before covering his mic and turning to us.

"I've run through every possible scenario, and they all end with the Donald Davenport memorial bridge" Chase said.

"Bubba we can't just let him fall. Can't you use your magnetism app?" I asked but he shook his head.

"I can't. The jet-wing is made out of fiberglass, not metal" Chase said and I sighed.

"Well, We have to do something. The whole reason he did this ridiculous stunt was to get the lab back for you guys" Leo said.

"Leo's right. Mr. Davenport put his life on the line for us" Bree said and Adam nodded.

"Yeah. Plus, he's our dad" Adam said before realizing something.

"Wait, technically, he's not our dad. Why are we here again?" Adam asked.

"He's still my dad and I'm not about to let him get hurt or die like this" I said.

"You guys are gonna have to use your bionics, but not with all these people around" Leo said and we nodded.

Then he walked over to the audience and stood in the middle.

"Okay, attention. I'm gonna need everyone to clear this space out immediately" Leo said, but nobody moved.

I rolled my eyes and stood next to him.

"There are free snacks inside!" I yelled, and this time everyone ran.

Once they left it was just us, Tasha and her camera guy.

Luckily her camera guy would be focused more on the sky where dad is at and not us, so we're good.

"Hey, guys, good news. If he does crash, we've got this adorable little tote bag we can collect his pieces with" Adam said with a smile.

Mine, Chase's and Leo's eyes widened when we saw that he was holding dad's parachute.

"Adam, where'd you get that?" Leo asked.

"I found it on the side of the road next to the hub cap" Adam said.

"Adam, that's not a tote bag. That's the parachute that fell from Mr. Davenport's jet-wing" I said as I grabbed it from hime.

"We gotta find a way to get this to him" I said.

"Why don't we just give it to him when he land?" Adam asked and we all gave him annoyed looks.

"Hey, what if Adam uses his strength to launch it back up to him?" Leo suggested and Chase nodded.

"Yes. I'll calculate the coordinates, and guide his throw" Chase said.

"Here" I said as I handed the parachute to Adam.

"All right, dad, be on the lookout. Chase and Adam are sending up your parachute" I said into the microphone.

"Copy that. I'm ready" Dad said.

Soon Chase and Adam got into position as Adam was in front holding the parachute in his hand while Chase was behind him, getting ready to guide his throw.

"All right, here we go. Three, two, one" Chase said.

Soon Adam threw the parachute really hard into the sky and by the looks of it, it was working.

"Adam, great job. It's heading straight for him" Chase said and I nodded.

"Cool, let me see!" Adam grinned as he took off his hubcab, only for his lasers to shoot out into the sky and cut off a part of the jet wing.

Our eyes widened as I heard dad screaming in fear through my headset.

"Whoops. I think I'm just gonna pull this back down" Adam said as he put his hubcab back on.

"Relax, Mr. Davenport, I have a plan" Chase reassured him.

"If your plan was to be fatherless, it's working!" Dad yelled.

Soon Tasha walks over to us, looking really worried as well.

"Why aren't you saving him? Can't any of you fly?" Tasha asked and we all looked at her weirdly.

"What do you do in that basement all day?" Tasha asked in slight annoyance.

Soon we heard running as we turned around we saw Principal Perry running towards us, looking really tired and out of breath.

"Thanks for leaving me behind. Why'd you use your super speed?" Principal Perry asked in annoyance.

"I didn't" Bree said and I nodded.

"I can try to use my molecular kinesis to slow his descent, but he's still gonna hit too hard" Chase said.

"Wait, we are in the parking lot of a shipping store" Leo said and my eyes widened.

"Yeah. And we can use cardboard boxes to break his fall" I said.

"And tape... to put him back together" Adam grinned as I glared at him.

"You heard him. Let's go" Principal Perry said.

A Few Minutes Later

Soon we placed as many boxes as we could into the middle of the site so that when dad falls he'd fall on the boxes.

"Guys, I'm out of fuel. I'm trying not to use my scared voice" Dad said.

"But it's slipping out" Dad said in a really high pitched voice.

"Mr. Davenport, I'm slowing you down and they're building a crash pad. Try to aim for it" Chase said into his microphone.

"It's working. I'm slowing down. I'll release the jet-wing so it won't crush me on impact" Dad said.

"Good idea" I nodded.

"All right, we're good to go. Boxes are set up as a crash pad" Bree said before she stopped and she started to shake.

"Oh, no. I feel a glitch coming on" Bree said and Leo nodded.

"Got it" Leo said as he walked away.

"Oh!" Bree said as she started shaking more.

Soon Leo walked back over and placed a box over her.

"I bet she looks stupid" Adam said while laughing.

I rolled my eyes at him as I dragged him to the box that was covering Bree so he could hold it so it wouldn't move and she wouldn't get free.

Me and Leo turned around to see Chase struggling.

"Chase, what's wrong?" Leo asked.

"I think my bionics are glitching, too" Chase said.

"What's happening? I'm free-falling again! Five hundred feet! Four hundred feet!" Dad screamed.

"Do something!" Leo yelled at Chase while shaking him.

I got annoyed and shoved him off of him as Chase continued what he was doing.

Dad continued screaming and as much as I love him his screams were getting annoying.

So I just took off the headset and threw it to the ground.

"Aim for the boxes, money bags!" Principal Perry yelled while looking up as dad was slowly coming to our view.

"I can't control him anymore" Chase weakly said before dropping to the ground.

Dad got closer as well as his screams and I thought he was going to land on the boxes but because Chase was no longer controlling him he moved a little bit and was heading straight for Principal Perry.

She screamed as well as dad before dad dropped onto her.

All of us cringed as the others quickly ran over to them.

Chase was waking up and I sighed in relief as I helped him off the ground.

Soon we walked over to where they were.

"I think we've learned something today. Nobody covers a story like Tasha Davenport" Tasha grinned while looking at the camera.

Dad looked fine for the most part but Principal Perry could barely keep her eyes open.

"Is he dead?" Principal Perry asked.

"No" me and Chase said together.

"Am I dead?" Principal Perry asked.

"Unclear, but just to be safe, we should probably proceed with a burial" Leo said and I nodded.

The Next Day

After the whole jet wing thing yesterday dad only had a broken arm and a broken leg.

Principal Perry, well I can't say the same about her but she'll live.

We were back home as me, Leo and Tasha helped dad into the living room.

"I can't believe the media is hailing Principal Perry as a hero just for breaking my fall" Dad said in annoyance.

We looked at his tablet to see Principal Perry in a full body cast.

"The real heroes are the nurses who made that body cast" I said and they nodded.

Dad looked at me and Leo and smiled.

"I'm really proud of you pumpkin, and Leo. If it wasn't for you two, I probably wouldn't have gone through with that stunt" Dad said as he kissed my temple.

I smiled and kissed his cheek.

"It was nothing dad. There was no way in hell was I about to let my dad get hurt" I said.

"She's right. But words are cheap, and I still want my cut" Leo grinned and dad rolled his eyes at him.

"Look, the good news is, we raised enough money to build a new lab, and Adam, Bree and Chase will be back in their capsules in no time" Dad explained as he sat down on a chair by the kitchen coutner.

"Yeah. The sooner, the better" Leo said as we looked over to where the trio were.

They were all sitting on the couch and they were not doing well.

Chase has utensils all over his fae, Adam still has the hubcab on and Bree was still inside the box.

I really hope we get that new lab soon.
