Harper is in the lab with Chase, the two are working on projects for Mr Devenport.

Mr Davenport walks in "hey guys" Mr Davenport says "hey Big D" Harper says, Mr Davenport looks at her

"you mean you gonna start calling me that too?" Mr Davenport says "yup sounds cool" Harper says.

"I don't know if we have that affinity yet Miss Krane" Mr Davenport says "honestly I don't care" Harper says.

"what are you guys doing?" Mr Davenport asks "no big deal just some routine checks" Chase says.

"by the way Harper if you want I can reserve that corner of the lab just for you" Mr Davenport says "really?" Harper smiles.

"yeah, you spend most of your day here and you'll be able to get closer to the rest of the team if you work here" Mr Davenport says.

"yeah that would be cool...we...we could be together.." Chase says, Harper frowns "can we!?" Harper says raising eyebrow.

Chase's eyes widen "No! I meant we were going to spend more time...together, all of us!" Chase says nervously he picks up some stuff and walks to the other side of the table, Harper shakes her head, she lightly bites her lip in the middle of a smile.

"What do you think Harper?" Mr Davenport asks "sure, I'm just going to need to bring some stuff over from my lab"Harper says.

"Do you have a lab?" Chase asks "Obviously where do you think i designed my weapons and studied your chips?" Harper says.

"Since you mentioned it, are you sure you're okay living alone in that house?" Mr Davenport says "yes, since my sisters left living alone has been heaven for me, I can do what I want, and if i want company I'll come over here" Harper says.

"Don't you think it's risky to live in a house without a responsible adult?" Mr Davenport "Do you know any responsible adults to live with me?" Harper says, Mr Davenport thinks "yeah, that's what I thought" Harper says.

"We can help you make the change" Chase says.

"by the wayI would love to see the study of the chips you did" Mr Davenport says "why?" Harper says "Cuz it's important" Mr Davenport "You can't accept the fact that I understand the Bionic chips better than you, right?" Harper says with a smug smile "Of course not..." Mr Davenport says.

"That's good, because I'm in the habit of not writing some things down on paper" Harper says "why not?" Chase asks "papers and files can be lost and easily stolen" Harper says.

"How are you going to remember everything?" Mr Davenport says "relax Mr Davenport everything is here" Harper says pointing to her head, she smiles and leaves.

The next day they go to Harper's lab.

"don't mind the mess, I haven't been in here for a while" Harper says turning on the light in the small and neat lab.

"did you do all this by yourself?" Leo ask "for the most part, the base of the lab was built by Krane but I've adapted it over the years" Harper says.

"it's really cool" Chase says "it looks like a place with a lot of pointless junk, It's cute though, it looks like a mini version of ours" Adam says.

"what do we have to pack?" Bree says "everything, not that much" Harper says, they start packing everything into boxes, and carrying to the car.

"hey Harper what is this?" Chase says seeing a project and a sheet of notebook with some sketches for a kind of a high tech boomerang "oh that's just a project based on na idea I had when I was younger, I tried to do it but gave up" Harper says.

"why? Sounds like a good project" Chase says "I don't know, something's missing but it doesn't matter anymore you can throw it away" Harper says "are you sure?" Chase says "yeah" Harper says but she looks unsure.

Chase scans the blueprints with his bionics.

"Hey Harper can I open this little door?" Adam says "what little door?" Harper says "uh this one!" Adam says pushing a cabinet in the lab revealing a sort of door in the wall.

"what is that?" Bree says "I don't know" Harper goes to the door "Have you never seen this door before?" Chase asks "never" Harper says "want me to open it?" Adam says, Harper nods.

Adam opens the door, Harper see what's inside "what's in there?" Chase asks "these are documents, but they're not complete" Harper says picking up a folder of documents.

"what kind of documents?" Leo says, Harper looks at the papers "these are adoption papers! My adoption papers" Harper says.

"you've never seen them before?" Bree asks "no" Harper says thoughtfully.

"So you don't know where you came from?" Leo asks "No but... do you know what that means?" Harper says "That you might have come from another planet!!" Adam says.

"No, with this I can try to find my real parents!" Harper says "I didn't know you wanted to meet them" Bree says "I've always wanted to know what they look like but never had a clue but now I do!" Harper says.

"are you sure this is a good idea?" Chase says "why wouldn't it be?" Harper says "you might be disappointed with reality" Leo says.

"and imagine if you come to the conclusion that Krane was a better father to you than they would have been" Adam says "unfortunately that can happen" Bree says "I'm sure they won't be any worse than Krane" Harper says.

"we just don't want to see you get upset" Leo says, everyone agrees "I can take it, I just want to know" Harper says.

"Why did Krane hide this from you?" Adam asks "just so I don't go after my real parents" Harper says "How awful" Bree says.

"yeah but there's not much difference from Big D that hid the fact that he wasn't your real dad so you guys wouldn't go after your real dad" Leo says "we get it we all have family issues!" Bree says.

"we have to go Mr Davenport is asking us to come back" Chase says, everyone goes back to Mr Davenport's house.

Douglas is in the room when everyone comes in.

"So how was it? Did they bring everything?" Douglas asks "yeah, lots and lots of boxes" Adam falls on the couch.

Harper comes in looking at the documents "What's that?" Douglas asks "Harper found her adoption papers" Chase says.

"seriously?" Douglas says "yeah, now she wants to go after her parents" Bree says "hey, don't talk in that tone, Like that's a crazy idea!" Harper says "but it's a crazy idea" Leo says "it's not!" Harper says.

"let me see" Douglas says "look it says I was born in Los Angeles, still in California so i can go there, see it's not a big deal" Harper says "So you're from Los Angeles?" Adam says "apparently" Harper says.

"yeah, here's the paper that reported a child genius in Los Angeles, that's when Krane found out about you and went after you" Douglas says "wow did they find out about your IQ at such a young age?" Bree says looking at the paper.

"yeah, but Douglas listen, I need to know why, why I ended up in the orphanage and where I came from" Harper says "we already know, Los Angeles!" Adam says.

Douglas looks at the papers "Douglas
I need to go" Harper says, he looks at her thoughtful "Do you want me to drive you to Los Angeles?" Douglas says "If you don't want... I'll go anyway" Harper says.

"Harper it's dangerous to go alone" Chase says "I'll manage" Harper says "Calm down! Fine! we'll go with you" Douglas says.

"Oh sorry to interrupt but, I don't have room in my schedule to travel aimlessly right now" Leo says.

"It's a big trip over there" Bree says, she thinks, she looks at Chase, he frowns at her, Bree smirk "I've been busy unfortunately but Chase can come with you" Bree smiles "what?" Chase says.

Adam looks at Chase and then at Harper "oh I just remembered I can't make it because I have to....Plant carrots" Adam says "what?" Harper says "it's planting season" Adam says.

"well so let's just be me, you and Chase huh?" Douglas says hugging Harper, she and Chase look at each other.

"uh ..unless you don't want me to Go" Chase says "I want!" Harpe say excited she notices and clears her throat "you can go" Harper says "then hit the road!!" Douglas says.

Harper, Douglas and Chase take Mr Davenport's car and drive to Los Angeles, Davanport's car is automatic and driverless so the three of them are in the back of the car.

Harper looks at the documents "So what do you know about them so far?" Chase asks "Not much, Krane deleted a lot of important information, but I know the street they live on" Harper says looking at the papers up to the light.

"But those documents are like 12 years old how are you sure they haven't moved?" Douglas says "it's a possibility" Harper says, Chase looks at her thoughtfully.

"you think that's crazy right?" Harper says feeling his gaze "yeah but...i'll go with you anyway" Chase says, she looks at him and smiles, Douglas watches the two, he gives a slight smile.

"Relax girl, you'll find what you're looking for" Douglas says.

They arrive in Los Angeles and go to the street where Harper's parents' house would be.

"what were their names?" Douglas says "my mom was apparently named Melody, and my dad is hard to tell" Harper says.

"Melody!?" Chase smiles "Shut up I know what you're thinking!" Harper says smiling "that apparently your family was in an orchestra?" Douglas laughs "You guys are ridiculous" Harper rolls her eyes and goes to the door.

Chase and Douglas stand at the gate, she knocks on the door and a lady opens the door.

"hello can I help you?" She says "yeah I'm looking for a couple, it's a woman called Melody" Harper says "I don't know no Melody, but you must be looking for the former owner of the house" the lady says.

"yeah what do you know about her?" Harper asks "I don't know much, all I know is that she and her husband got divorced and moved out of here" the lady says "oh"Harper says thoughtfully.

"could you tell me where they went?" Harper asks "Hard to say but I think the lady moved near a school downtown, here" the lady hands over the school Flyer.

"and her ex-husband?" Harper asks "they say he left the city but I don't know where" she says "thanks for the info" Harper smiles slightly.

Harper goes back to Chase and Douglas "how was it?" Chase asks "they don't live here anymore, they got divorced" Harper says "aw I'm so sorry girl" Douglas hugs her.

"No, it's ok, she said Melody lives downtown, we'll go there tomorrow" Harper says "are you sure?" Chase puts a hand on her shoulder "yeah" Harper says "it's late so we're going to sleep and tomorrow we're going downtown" Douglas says "okay" Harper says, she walks to the car.

Chase looks at her "Chase can I ask, what's going on between you two?" Douglas says "uh...nothing" Chase laughs nervously.

"come on I see the way you look at her" Douglas smirk, Chase looks at him nervously "are you in love, huh?" Douglas laughs nudging Chase, who has a serious expression.

Chase rolls his eyes and leaves.

Douglas fell asleep in the car, Harper sat on top of the car looking at the sky.

Chase sees her up there he climbs in the car and sits next to her.

"Hey" Chase says "hi" Harper smiles, Chase and she look up.

"the sky is beautiful here" Chase says "yes it is" Harper says "you can clearly see the constellations, over there the big dipper and the little dipper"Chase says pointing at the stars "yeah they're beautiful" Harper says looking at the stars.

"Did you know..." Chase starts to tell various facts about the stars and space in general, Harper looks at him as he explains and smiles.

He feels her gaze "You already know all this, right?" Chase laughs "yeah, I know" Harper says Chase agrees.

"This is the part of the conversation where people tell me to shut up" Chase says "No, go ahead" Harper says.

"you already know everything" Chase says "yeah but...i like to hear you explain stuff" Harper smiles "you do?" Chase asks confused "Yes, I really do!" Harper says, Chase looks her in the eyes, she smiles.

Chase looks away and takes a deep breath, Harper notices his nervousness and looks up at the sky.

Chase continues to explain things about space, talking non-stop, Harper just looks at him as he talks.

She takes a deep breath and lightly lays her head on his shoulder, Chase pauses when he notices but then goes back to commenting on the stars.

When Chase stops he notices that she has fallen asleep on his shoulder, he remains motionless for a while, he slowly leans his head against hers, and dozes off lightly.

After a while, Douglas gets out of the car.

"Good morning Chase" Douglas says in a mocking tone "shhh!" Chase says irritably.

Harper then gets in the car to get some more sleep, while Douglas stands outside with Chase.

"how do you defend yourself now?" Douglas laughs "That doesn't mean anything" Chase says.

"No!?" Douglas says "We were talking and she fell asleep" Chase says "oh yeah that makes sense, it really could happen to anyone" Douglas says, Chase looks at him seriously.

They go downtown, they go near the school the lady had said about.

"this is it!" Harper says "Harper promises that whoever she is, you won't be too upset about it" Chase says "Relax Chase" Harper says "girl just know if it doesn't work out we'll be here" Douglas says "okay" Harper says getting out of the car.

She walks up to a woman in front of the school "hey excuse me" Harper says "can I help you?" The woman says "I'm looking for a woman named Melody she has long lived in this condo" Harper shows her the condo brochure.

"I've been looking for her and I hear she lives nearby" Harper says "oh yeah I know her I see her around here all the time" the lady says "really!?" Harper says.

"yeah if you wait a minute, You will be able to meet her when she comes to school to pick up her son" the lady says "what?" Harper says with a worried look "oh her son goes to this school" she says.

"does she have a son?" Harper says"yes, as far as i know she works at a university" the lady says "okay thanks" Harper says with a forced smile "You're welcome" the lady says.

Harper gets back in the car "what's up?" Chase says "she actually lives here" Harper says "great!" Douglas says "yeah but she...has a son" Harper says thoughtfully.

Douglas and Chase look at each other "This is...complicated" Douglas says "are you ok with this?" Chase asks "she...why did she leave me behind?" Harper says, Chase looks at her upset.

"Chase could you give me a moment to talk with her?" Douglas says, Chase hesitates for a second but he nods and leaves.

"why did she replace me? Wasn't I good enough? Wasn't my dad good enough? Why?" Harper says confused "I know it must be hard, and I'm so sorry" Douglas says.

"I just wish..." Harper sighs "What?" Douglas says "A family, I've been in two and they both left me or I left them because they were terrible" Harper says.

"I understand" Douglas says "no you don't" Harper says "i do, and girl can I be honest with you?" Douglas says, Harper looks at him.

"I don't know what happened in these people's lives to not be with you, but I don't even need to know that to say with certainty that leaving you was the worst mistake of their lives" Douglas says.

"I feel sorry for them for not getting to see the amazing, strong, brilliant girl that their daughter has become" Douglas says "you're just saying that" Harper says "no I'm serious! They don't deserve you like Krane didn't" Douglas says.

"you think?" Harper says "I'm sure, and I know family-wise I'm not very good, my own kids don't think of me as a father" Douglas says, Harper nods.

"But you deserve the experience of a real parent who truly loves and cares for you, and I promise I'll do my best to give you that experience" Douglas says.

"What do you mean?" Harper says "I'll be here, to pick you up when you do something wrong, to make you laugh when you're sad, to give you advices, everything a father would do...If you
want to slam the door in my face once in a while, I'll accept it." Douglas says.

"why would you do that?" Harper says "Because we both deserve a second chance, a chance to understand
what a family is" Douglas says.

"you don't have to do this" Harper says "but you need me to" Douglas smiles, Harper laughs, she takes a moment, rolls her eyes and hugs Douglas "thanks" Harper says.

Chase opens the door "So are you going to wait for her?" Chase asks, Harper looks at him and then at Douglas "no, I already have what I was looking for" she smiles at Douglas "okay so let's go back to Mission Creek!" Douglas says.

In the car Chase and Harper are sitting side by side, Chase looks at her from the corner of his eye, Harper has headphones on looking out the car window.

"Chase!" Douglas whispers in the front seat, Chase looks at him, Douglas points to Harper's hand on the bench, Chase shakes his head no.

Chase waits for Douglas to be distracted, Chase slowly moves his hand closer to Harper's hand.

She feels his hand on top of hers, Harper smiles slightly but pretends not to notice.

Chase holds her hand lightly.

Until Douglas looks at them and he takes his hand away shyly, Harper looks at Douglas understanding what happened.

They come home "Hey how was the trip?" Bree says "well I didn't meet my parents as planned but" Harper looks at Chase and Douglas "it was a nice trip" Harper says, they both smile at her.

"so you gave up this thing of knowing about your past?" Leo says "yup, the only important thing in my past...is that was essential for me to become who I am today, and more important meet the people I know today" Harper says.

"who!?" Adam asks "my real family" Harper smiles "aw!" Bree says hugging Harper "who are they?" Adam says "us!" Leo says "aw!" Adam says and hug her too.

"Wait did you find out that Douglas is your father too?" Adam says "No!" Harper says "oh no Mr Davenport is your father you are our cousin!?" Adam says scared, everyone looks at him confused.

"Adam...oh it's not worth explaining to you" Harper says.
