Chapter Ten: Jealousy & Regrets

Luna's Pov

After Alexis told me that her and Leo talked and that he finally forgave her for what she did, I was ecstatic.

Truth be told, we all were ecstatic.

We all know that after what happened that day, Leo has never really talked to Alexis or approached her.

There were a few times where Alexis would try and approach Leo, but she would get nervous and not say anything at all.

It's crazy, right?

Alexis being nervous of something, especially trying to apologize to Leo for what she did.

But then again, all she ever wanted was for her friendship with Leo to return.

She was scared that after everything that happened, every hurtful thing she said to him he wouldn't want anything to do with her.

And, while it took a while, I'm glad that they're back to being friends.

Now, moving on from that...

Chase and I are currently at the beach together since we decided to get away from the academy for a bit.

And it has been a while since we last came to the beach.

Definitely the perfect place for us to go and have some alone time.

We decided to go in the afternoon. We decided we're going to stay until the sun sets, we want to be there to witness it in person.

I smiled as Chase and I held hands, swinging our clasped hands just a little.

"Do you know what's amazing about the beach?" Chase asked.

"The water? The sun when it sets?" I asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Yes, but I was talking about you" Chase told me.

"Me?" I asked, confused.

"Yes. The beach is beautiful, you're beautiful. I love the beach and I love you" Chase smirked, winking at me.

I blushed at that and let out a small giggle as I shook my head at my fiance.

I released his hand and grabbed his arm, wrapping it around my shoulder as he took the opportunity to pull me closer to his side.

"You're quite the charmer, aren't you?" I asked, smiling up at him.

"So I've been told" Chase winked at me.

I playfully rolled my eyes at him and chuckled slightly.

We continued walking while talking at the same time. We cracked a few jokes and laughed at them.

Some were funny and some were a little cringey, but we didn't care because all we cared about was having fun and being ourselves.

Not to mention we don't have to worry about getting any mission alerts.

Meaning we can relax and just have fun.

When we reached a nice area Chase took out the blanket he packed with us before we left the academy.

"I'm so happy we're doing this. It's been a while since we went somewhere and we didn't have to worry as much" I told him.

"Me too. We can relax and just be together and enjoy each others presence" Chase smiled.

I smiled at him and nodded.

"Hey, sweetheart, I think I saw an ice cream truck nearby. Do you want one?" Chase asked.

"Yes please, bubba" I smiled while winking at him.

Chase chuckled and fondly shook his head at me.

He leaned down to kiss my forehead before turning around and walking away to head over to the ice cream truck to get our ice cream.

I smiled before sitting down on the blanket. I smiled at what was seen in front of me before taking my phone out.

I want to try and call Ian, but he might be busy packing.

Oh, did I say packing?

Yep, I did.

Ian, his parents and, of course, Miles are coming over to Mission Creek for mine and Chase's upcoming weeding.

Sure, our wedding isn't for another few weeks but Ian and his parents and Miles want to be here on time so that we can have time to spend time together.

Especially Ian, Miles and I.

I've missed my boys so much and I'm so happy I'll be able to see them again.

"Luna?"

Startled, I broke out of my thoughts and turned around and picked my head up to see who had called out to me.

My smile disappeared within seconds when I saw who it was.

Tyler James.

My ex-best friend, the boy that I hated more than anything and the boy that I haven't heard from in years.

However, he looked completely different.

He had black bags under his eyes, his clothes were baggy and nothing like the clothes he'd normally wear, and he looked downright tired.

To sum it up, he looked awful.

"Hey, I knew it was you. I'd recognize you anywhere" Tyler smiled.

"What the hell are you doing here?" I bluntly asked.

I came here with Chase, my fiance, to just get away from everything.

I came here with Chase so that it could just be the two of us.

Just the two of us...

The last thing I want is to talk  or even acknowledge my ex-best friend.

Tyler looked taken aback, and hurt, by what I said before shaking it off.

"I came here to get some fresh air, and hopefully take a swim. And you?" Tyler asked.

"I'm here with Chase, my fiancé" I told him.

His eyes widened when I introduced Chase as my fiancé and not my boyfriend.

"F-fiancé? Are you serious?" Tyler asked in shock.

"Indeed I am" I grinned happily.

I proudly showed off my engagement ring to him, enjoying the way his entire expression fell.

I was so tempted to laugh in his face, but I held myself back from doing so.

"When did you two get engaged? Last time I checked you two were just boyfriend and girlfriend" Tyler asked, clearly confused.

"It's been a year since he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. And, of course, I said yes. I love him with all my heart and I've wanted nothing more than to marry him" I smiled.

I watched as he swallowed a lump in his throat and weakly nodded.

"Well, congrats" he managed to force out.

I rolled my eyes before simply nodding my head.

"And to answer your previous question, I'm here with Chase since we both needed time for ourselves. He left to get us some ice cream but he should be back soon" I explained.

Tyler simply hummed at that and nodded his head.

Silence took over us. Neither of us said anything.

If anyone were to pass by us they would be able to see and feel the awkward tension between the both of us.

Considering we aren't best friends, or even friends alone, anymore.

"So, uh, how have you been?" Tyler asked, breaking the silence we were in.

"Fine" I shrugged.

"Has anything interesting happened so far?" Tyler asked.

"My best friend Bree got married to the love of her life and they're on their honeymoon" I told him.

"Oh, well tell her I said congrats" Tyler smiled.

I rolled my eyes it nodded at him.

"What about you? How have you been?" I asked, slightly curious.

Tyler chuckled, awkwardly for that matter, and rubbed the back of his neck.

"Eh, not too good. College is hard, I've got tons of exams to study for and my relationship with my parents ever since I started college has gotten strained" Tyler explained.

"How so?" I asked, raising an eyebrow at him.

Tyler was always so close with his parents, he loved them with all his heart just like they did with him.

Just what happened that caused them to be distant? What happened for their relationship to be strained?

"Well, because I got arrested a week before entering college" Tyler sheepishly replied.

I allowed myself to stand up, slowly, as my eyes widened slightly at the reveal.

"You got arrested? For what?" I asked.

"After graduation, I went with the guys from football and the girls from cheerleading to a bar so we could party and get drunk since we were all practically adults. At around midnight we all were heading back to the hotel for the after party. I was drunk as hell, everyone was, but I was the most drunk. And, like the idiot I was and am, I drove us back to the hotel" Tyler explained.

He let out a sigh and ran his hand through his hair.

"I accidentally hit another car. A man and his daughter were inside the car. They both suffered severe injuries but they survived. Unfortunately, for me, because I was driving while under the influence I was arrested. Luckily, my parents bailed me out but due to my arrest the college I got accepted into withdrew my football scholarship. My parents, especially my father, were disappointed in me" Tyler explained.

I frowned at that, but I couldn't bring myself to feel bad nor offer him comfort.

He should've known better and he should've let someone from his friend group, that was sober, drive.

But, he didn't.

And, because of his stupidity, two people could've died.

Something dad has always told me is to have control when it comes to alcohol.

He always tells me that there's no harm in drinking whenever we want to. But, he always reminds me that there are limits and that everyone should be aware and responsible.

Which is why I control myself when it comes to drinking anything with alcohol.

Same goes with everyone else.

We may enjoy it but we know when to limit ourselves.

"Well, as long as you and everyone else is alive that's all that matters" I told him.

"I know, but I still hate myself for my mistake" Tyler sighed.

I simply pressed my lips together and crossed my arms over my chest.

Silence took over us as neither of us said anything.

Tyler opened his mouth to say something when he stopped, his eyes wandering behind me.

I furrowed my eyebrows together and turned around. A smile immediately appeared on my face when I saw that it was Chase.

Two ice cream cones were in his hands and he had a smile plastered on his face, his eyes never leaving mine.

When he was close he stopped in front of me, handing me the strawberry ice cream cone.

"Hey, sweetheart. Sorry it took so long, there was a pretty big line" Chase told me.

I giggled and took the cone from him.

"It's fine, bubba. No harm done" I reassured him, smiling.

He smiled at me and leaned in to kiss my forehead, causing me to smile more.

His eyes wandered behind me and his expression hardened when he saw Tyler.

"What is he doing here?" Chase asked, looking at me.

Tyler out a huff and rolled his eyes.

"Good to see you too, Chase" Tyler nodded.

Chase simply ignored him and kept his eyes on me, waiting for an answer.

"He just came here to talk. But, now that we're done talking, he's leaving" I told him.

I turned my head around to look at him and Chase's eyes wandered back over to him.

Tyler awkwardly cleared his throat and nodded his head.

"Uh, yeah, I'm leaving. But, it was good to see you again, Luna" Tyler said.

"Wish I could say the same" I rolled my eyes.

Tyler frowned before sighing. He nodded at us one last time before turning around and walking away.

When he was gone I sighed and turned back to Chase, who was staring after Tyler's retreating figure.

"I don't like him" Chase scowled.

"What else is new?" I rolled my eyes, chuckling in amusement.

Chase playfully rolled his eyes as he looked at me.

"I don't like the way he was looking at you. He looks at you the way I look at you" Chase told me.

My eyes widened at that before I chuckled.

I soon started giggling as I looked at Chase with an amused and loving look.

I leaned in and pecked him softly on the lips.

"Don't worry about him, bubba. You know I love you and only you" I smiled softly at him.

Chase let out a sigh before a soft smile appeared on my face.

"I know. I love you too, sweetheart" Chase smiled.

I giggled before using my free hand to cup his cheek before pressing my lips onto his.

Chase hummed into the kiss before using his free hand to rest it on my shoulder, kissing me back.

God, this boy has me wrapped around his finger. I love him so damn much.

Nobody's Pov

While the engaged couple was caught up in their moment together, Tyler was watching them from the sidelines.

Tyler frowned as he swallowed down whatever anger, jealousy and rage he was feeling.

Seeing Luna with Chase made him so angry that he wanted to storm back over to them and beat Chase up for taking Luna away from him.

However, he knew that he couldn't do that. Especially when Chase has done nothing wrong.

All he has done is be there for Luna and has made her happy.

An example would be her smile.

The way Luna smiles whenever she was around Chase was nothing compared to how she smiled in the past.

When they were friends, her smile may have been happy and huge but there were tons of emotions missing to make it 100% real.

When they stopped being friends because of his stupidity, her smile had disappeared and she closed herself off.

But, her smile reappeared when Ian showed up into her life and they became best friends.

Her smile had been strained when Ian left.

But, when Chase showed up into her life, her smile returned but it was filled with tons of emotions.

Whenever her and Chase were together and hung out she would smile all the time. She would laugh and would have the time of her life whenever he was around her.

And when they made it official, her smile became 100% real.

Her smile was nothing compared to how she smiled whenever he was with her.

And that made him realize that Luna and Chase were meant for each other. It was fate that brought them together.

Even though they went through a ton of shit, they remained together and never let anyone or anything get in the way of their happiness.

Tyler knows that now...

And he regrets letting popularity get in the way of his friendship with Luna.

He regrets letting his stupidity and need to be known to everyone at school break up his and Luna's friendship.

Maybe, just maybe, him and Luna would still be friends.

Maybe...he would have had Luna's love, he would've been the one to be with her instead of Chase.

But, he's not...

And he has to live with it for the rest of his life...

Tyler let the tears fall down his face as he turned around and walked away, not wanting to look at the couple anymore.
