Chapter 3

⚠️Warning-Foul Language⚠️

1st P.O.V.

"Come on, I know you can do better than that!" yelled the scientist.

I stiffened silently in the darkness. Even though the lights were on as high as they would go, everything was still black. It was because I was blind.

Now, being blind isn't as bad as one might think it would be. All one must do is remember where things are. Quite simple, it really is.

"I said again!" Barked the scientist. I stood silently, pulling my gun back out from its position on my hip. The FN 5.7 fit perfectly in my hand.

I could feel the ground shift beneath me, signaling that the course was being reset. Running my metal thumb across the barrel of my gun, I felt all of the engravings etched into it. A simple feather outline could be felt carved into it.

Grunts and huffs and cries could be heard as the M.E.C.H. soldiers dragged in a new load of targets and dragged the fallen ones out.

"Barrel ready!" Yelled the soldiers, diving out of the way I case I tried to shoot.

"Time begins...now," said the scientist. I could hear the ticking of a stopwatch. I breathed in, and moved.

"Give me a letter!" I yelled.

"V!" Yelled a voice. I ran through the trees and across the mud. I pulled the trigger on my handgun.

The screams and shouts that were previously being made were cut short almost as quickly as they had started. Only the echo of the boom could be heard, bouncing throughout the digital forest.

There was a fizzing sound. The mud and grass beneath my shoes disappeared and was replaced with the hard, cold metal flooring of the training room.

"26.69 seconds. Not bad, TS666." Pencil hitting paper hit my ears.

Continuing to stand still, I waited for my next orders.

"That will be all," said the scientist. "Back to your cell!" He barked. My oversensitive ears caused me to mentally flinch at the tone. Of course, I gave no physical indication that I had did so.

"Yes sir," I said, walking out of the room. I went to the corner where I had left my walking stick and went to grab it. Only one issue: it wasn't there.

"Alright, bitches. That's how we're gonna play now, is it?" I hissed through my teeth. "Alright! Which one of you MoFos took my stick!" I shrieked. Hearing a whiz and feeling a slight disturbance in the air, I spun and snatched my walking cane right out of the air.

"Thank you, that will be all," I sneered sarcastically.

I hissed as I passed two M.E.C.H. soldiers.

"How did it-" one started to say.

"Don't ask, it just does," finished the other one.

I stopped and turned towards the voices. "And this it is a she, and she may very well kick you damn ass for calling her an it." I could practically see the men jump back in shock. "Now, if you don't mind, I have to get back to my cell. Good day."

I waved my walking stick in front of me, successfully knocking a fallen something out of the way. 'That's why I carry this thing with me, damnit,' I thought.

Puttering slowly through the facility's hallways, I began to let my mind wander, which wasn't something I could do a lot due to lack of personal time.

'It's past time I make a brake for it,' I told myself. It was true, too. Every some few months I would give the soldiers and guards the slip and run. It had been nearly half a year since the last escape attempt and the men were becoming anxious, wondering when my next escape would be put into action.

But tonight would be different from most nights. I entered my cell and heard the door slam shut behind me. Tonight I was making a run for it and was going to get out of the hellhole they call a laboratory and a facility of science. I had everything set into motion. All that I had to do now was wait.

Ack! Sorry for being so short! Next one will be longer, I swear! No hate please? Thank you to all who have read!
