I stepped out onto the back patio, feeling the cool summer breeze hit my neck. The darkness of night engulfed me, sending shivers down my spine, but I continued down the path in my gym shoes. With my headphones blasting music into my ears, I found myself lost in thought as I strolled down the silent street, stopping for a moment under each streetlamp to check my surroundings. I wouldn't stop for long, as the memories would come flooding back; rivers cascading over my mind painfully, refusing to let up. A sigh emitted from my mouth, reminding me to keep going. Seeing as I walked the same path each time, I decided to take a longer route home, just for the heck of it.

Some time passed, bringing me to another streetlamp. As I stood under it, I felt a buzz coming from my pocket. My phone had just run out of power, and I was left in the deafening silence. That is, until I heard faint playing in the distance. My curiosity got the better of me, though I knew how all the horror movies played out. As I grew closer to the sound, I heard the vibrating strings of a violin, the emphasis of some notes and softness of others. The song was familiar, but, I couldn't put my finger on it exactly. My eyes focused on the silhouette of a very tall man wearing a fedora and long jacket. Still, I drew closer, having him turn to me in response. He soon finished the song.

"A beautiful rose, for the beautiful lady," he pulled out a picture perfect rose, bright red in color. Fear paralyzed me, so many things in this context were wrong. The very air around us was painfully suspicious. I looked down, staying quiet. With a step back, I grabbed my arm, letting my hair fall over my face. "Shy? How about blue, a color for confidence." The stranger pulled out a similar rose, only this time it was baby blue. I didn't move.

He pulled back, replacing his rose in his pocket. Leaning down, he examined me, giving me a chance to look at his face. But he didn't have eyes or a nose. Just a long, toothy grin, which had formed into a frown. I kept my head low, fear beginning to envelop me along with shyness. "So strange. You, my dear, are intriguing. Come with me~" before I could run, the man grabbed my arm, and I blacked out.
